@@factsmatter6980 did you mean this? 65% after 7 years. is that bad? Battery degradation test results The discharge test from about 100% to about 4% state-of-charge (SOC), down to the turtle mode, revealed a range of a bit over 100 km (62 miles) and energy consumption of 163 Wh/km (262 Wh/mile). According to Bjørn Nyland, it means that the car has available about 17 kWh, which is roughly 65% of the initial net battery capacity.

@@electricfamily7713 The money you would typically save from gas (especially with prices now) should be more than enough to get a replacement. I'm pretty sure the Tesla Model S costs roughly 14k for a battery replacement which isn't cheap but if you drive A LOT (full tank of gas every week) than it would be worth it imo.

We're just about at 5000 km with our Preferred RWD LR, and the biggest issues we have with it is the lack of forward facing parking sensors, side cameras. Driving wise, it's the perfect hwy car. It is sprung pretty well, but does wallow a bit over bigger bumps, soaking them up, but clearly being more on the comfy side than sporty. Range-wise, we've seen the same during the winter, but now that it's over 10C we're seeing in the 13-17kWh/100km, which pushes the range back towards 450ish total, and that's driving on 401/427/DVP.

I didn't really like this design when I first saw it, but after seeing the NV74 (Hyundai's sexy 1974 Pony inspired rolling lab), this design has _really_ grown on me. Also, having a lighter colour for an interior option is nice for Southern Canadian summers. My current vehicle, a 2008 Honda Civic, gets turned into an oven when it's sunny out. Maybe the lighter colour will reduce the overall inside temperature. Currently, the AWD Long Range package is around $60000CAD. The price _should_ go down in a few years for future models due to the supply chain relaxing a little.

We preordered one at the beginning of March and was told by the local dealership to expect delivery around October. Not sure if you have a similar ETA, but I can say that I did test drive one and was blown away by how good it was. As for charging, I expect the Ioniq 5 has not been added to certain of the networks. My understanding is that they have electronic identifiers that need to be added to the chargepoints for the full 350kw. I expect Petro Canada, Electrify Canada, among other have not updated their chargepoints with the Ioniq 5 electronic identifiers, capping the chargepoint at 150kw. I could be wrong though, but I bought it fully expecting the charging to get better over time. Great review and looking forward to seeing some videos of your own Ioniq 5!

I've watched a few reviews of this new Ioniq 5, and yours is very informative and honest. But of all of those reviews I've come to the conclusion that the biggest mistake Hyundai made in designing this car is the lack of a rear window wiper. This car was evidently designed in California and not Canada. I currently own a Kia Stinger GT Limited (Canadian version) and to get the equivalent features with an Ioniq 5 (AWD and all the bells and whistles) I would have to get the Ultimate trim which would cost more than my Stinger.

I have an Ioniq Blue 2018, I found last year at the dealership, it was a lease someone had, very low miles. I was looking at a Toyota Prius Prime, at the time, and during my research I found that the Ioniq is the competition for the Prime. and the Ioniq was 10k cheaper. My Ioniq is front wheel drive, and I have the option to take the traction control off, to make it one wheel drive. I'm in Iowa so we have 4 seasons, and get our share of cold and snow. Just loke the 5 your testing, the milage in the winter is less, A coworker has a prime and even he says he gets less in the winter, and he says wait for the warmer months you will get better. On a high wind day I get about 44 mpg, on a calm day I get about 50 to 55, mpg. If the wind is at my back and pushing me I get 63 mpg. My gas tank is just under 12 gallons, In a 3 hour drive on the interstate at 72 mph, I will use about 4 gallons of gas, thats non ethonal. If these manufacturers are wanting people to buy electric, maybe lower the price. I did see the Ioniq 5 is about 40k here in Iowa. and going up from there. A loaded Prime I can get for 34k. When will these cars get 4 to5 hundred mile range .

Great review. I liked the EV6 a lot better and was able to get a GT-line in matte grey at MSRP -$500. The car has been amazing and bullet proof and have already over 18k and have been from CT to Memphis TN and Florida. I had the limited Ioniq 5 on order and when it came in did not love it as much as the ev6 thus bought that instead.

I'd have to say, for me at least, the lack of a rear wiper is a deal breaker. Sincerely. It honestly amazes me it doesn't have one. It seems like a safety issue, in my opinion. I was digging this car until that was mentioned.

It's really not as bad as it sounds. I drove with my Renault for years without one, and first I thought "WTF??" but cars without wiper usually have an angle of the rear window that prevents rain/snow from actually falling on it while you drive. If you stop, yes, but again, I really never missed it.

The review was well done and with quality. Over the past ten years Hyundia and Kia has decreased in quality as fast as their cars have increased in style and tec gadgets. I have owned a 2009 Hyundai Sonata - great car and very good quality. style was OK for the cars of its class. I traded for a 2011 Hyundai Elantra - better milage (gas was approaching $4.00 a gallon) and the style was fantastic. The quality of this was not as well as the 2009, but it was not the Sonata class. We moved to a 2015 Kia Sportage because of the experience of value with the two previous Hyundai cars. At first this seemed a good car, bur just as we reached 30,000 miles we took it in for an engine management software update as suggested by the Kia conpany. Well our 2015 was the one that had one of those bad engine. After three months waiting for an exchange and finding out our replacement was not to arrive for another three months. The dealership purchased our car because it was in great shape, low mileage, and just waiting for a new motor. This was in 2018. We have found out that many of the replacement engines were also bad. Also Hyundia/Kia has had many fire problems - the recalls go on. So how will the new IONIQ 5 EV work for Hyundai? If they have not turned their quality around, the experience will not be great. If you want a new Hyundai, good luck.

This is a pretty good car with incentive and if no dealership markup. I checked it out this past weekend and the dealership marks it up 7k-10k, which made it a lot less appealing. I think for people who already own a Model Y. This car is a good secondary car for commute and local short trip, only if u can get the 7500 credit and no dealer markup. Otherwise, just pay a bit more for a Model Y or get Hybrid suv like Rav4 prime.

Most of Hyundai's driving assist is from the camera at the mirror. Keeping the windshield clear should keep it working just fine....with the proviso that the road is clear enough that the lane markings are usually visible. Keep the washer full of defrosting fluid in the winter.

Tested both Ioniq 5 and EV6 the same day on the same route that I do everyday with a Kona EV. EV6 won hands down. Main gripes with the Ioniq 5 : construction quality (many noises in the cabin) and front suspension, especially on speed bumps. I also expect a better efficiency from the EV6 because it's 10cm/4 inches lower.

@@sebastianorye2702 Model Y is maybe more efficient, but a car also has to look good for me. The Ioniq 5 looks way better than the model Y (in my opinion). The Ioniq 5 gives me the same feeling a modern Mini Cooper S in a funky color gives me, playful and something that stands out instead. The Model 3 and Y I see on every street corner in black or white. Also the lack of HUD and driver display in the Tesla are one of the reasons I will never buy one.
@sebastianorye2702
@sebastianorye2702 Жыл бұрын
@@tubejorrit Yes, the Model 3 & Y are a standard sighting on the road nowadays. If a unique car, better looking to many, is what you'd like and prioritise, Ioniq 5 is a great choice. That being said, on pretty much every other front the Model Y wins by far. Efficiency, Range, Performance, Price, Safety, Software, Hardware, Future Proof, Tesla Ecosystem, and more. While there is no HUD, thats one of the only things they are lacking relative to the Ioniq. That being said, while from a purely numerical standpoint, Tesla Model Y dominates, the Ioniq really is a great alternative if you want a "Mini Cooper S" style car. Unique, Fun, Playfull but not economic. Id still give the Model Y a test drive though. After all, its so widely loved.

13:34 The front motor only disconnects when it's deemed not needed by the computer, otherwise, it stays engaged. So flat, dry conditions, it'll likely disconnect. Hills, rain, snow, it'll stay engaged for stability control. The 'sluggish' acceleration feeling is due the the acceleration pedal mapping to conserve power in eco mode. SIdenote, the EV6 IS a ioniq still, fundamentally.

Congrats man on your new Ioniq 5 purchase, hopefully you'll make video about it when it finally arrives. I couldn't agree more with you, despite all the hot rivalry in this particular EV segment, Ioniq 5 is easily the coolest and one of the best in its class. While it's not perfect, it's the best EV from mass manufacturer car brand to fight against the Tesla imo. Also you're officially cooler than your peers since you're not another typical tech KZbinr who drives a Tesla 😆😁

Same experiences here, very accurate review. We have an RWD 220HP 77kWh on the 20 inch alloys. I do about 40 miles of highway driving every day and in winter (around 0 to 5 degrees C here) I got around 310-320km of range and now in spring with temperatures around 15 C it's getting up to 350km. The highway driving assist is very good, but it can be very dangerous too for example when you take a swoopy exit and it lets go mid-corner and fires you straight at the barrier rails without warning. But overall it's just such a practical car, so much space for our kid in the back, large trunk, very comfy, accelerates fast if you need it to, corners nicely... And it looks great!

The one reason for the USB-A ports is that if you have an older device which is not a C-C cable configuration, then it's more flexible (like the Samsung 10+, etc. which I'm still using along with the 22). Same if you have a tablet which uses a micro-A type of plug config. It would have been nice to have at least one or two C-C type config in the front console, though.

"For me every port being USB A is a plus for now " I haven't used USB-A in years. I get that some people still have old stuff, but once you caught up you don't want to be forced back to old and outdated kit, and that is exactly what Hyundai are doing to their customers. For people like me who are already all USB-C, this is really backwards. Just wanted to add one note regarding the lack of entertainment features on the car displays. Android Auto has a "Game Snack" icon that allows you to play several nice games while the car is stopped (I personally like the puzzle type games). I have never installed this on my phone and was able to find it one day in my car, so I suppose it is a built-in app for Andoid Auto. Not sure if there is similar thing for Apple CarPlay.

I’ve had mine for 6 months and love it. Like most online reviewers you are talking about the absolute top of the line i5, which has many features most buyers won’t be getting. My second level i5 doesn’t have most of the cameras and seat functions you love. The rear wiper isn’t just a problem when parking. Driving on rain soaked dusty/dirty roads the rear screen becomes opaque within minutes. I’m not really happy guessing what the vague shapes on the road behind me are in a car at this elevated price bracket. If you live in a drier climate - yeah, it’s not really a problem.
