This is one of the things I love about playing EVE. When I first started playing, I was flying my first ship which is super tiny. I had a friend who was showing me around the game when we ran into a Titan. It was a Gallente Titan, and compared to my ship it was enormous. When I saw it I was like, "Holy fucking shit!" It was great.

I still love the way this illustrates the scale of the things. If you had a model of a Magnate that was a fairly chunky desktop model an Avatar would be bigger than a bus!

There are definite benefits, some rather massive ones depending on the ship (One of those large ships listed was a freighter) But they also make you a juicy target if your just trying to roam around solo and pick off other pilots.

Ships in EVE are mechanically hooked up to the pilot via a goo filled pod. This allows the ship to react as fast as the pilot can think. However many ships have small skeleton crews that handle tasks such as loading and ejecting cargo or reloading guns.

@londomollari The avatar is one of the largest ships in EVE. It is a Titan-class ship from the Amarr race (the others are the Gallente Erebus, Caldari Leviathan and Minmatar Ragnarok). They do indeed take hundreds, if not thousands, of man-hours to build. Also, the avatar was the first Titan lost in battle (it might not have been its first battle, however). In EVE, 90% of everything is produced by the players, including these enormous capital and supercapital ships.

I like the look of eve and the sound of it's music, it's just I'd love to be off exploring abandoned space stations in it, doing surveys of planets, meeting alien races face to face, experiencing mysterious alien artefacts, having a crisis on board a space ship as someone is the carrier for a mysterious space plague, which mutates and melts everyone rather than flying around playing war.

@londomollari You are most likely refering to the first titan ever lost. It was an Avatar (the titan in this video, last ship) piloted by Cyvok, especially back then they were priceless (well converting ingame money to real money around $10.000) It took their entire alliace (1000's of people) working together to make one and took several months to construct. It was lost when he logged off while he was agressed, scanned down before the ship dissapeared and blown up by a hostile capital fleet.

Only "too impractical" for people who need instant gratification. There is so much great game play in EvE without needing to be one of the old-guard or elites. I was having a blast my first week, zipping around and helping my corporation while still flying a "lowly" destroyer (takes about one day to train and earn/buy one.) If you like sci-fi, spaceships, and about as open sandbox as they come, you'll enjoy EvE. Most people who have played for years aren't even interested in flying titans.
@Svartsejd11 жыл бұрын
Well that's mainly because the player who already were veterans when the new ones started, already had those ships. And it's only the big alliances who uses those ships. The Carrier and Mother ships can be found in the the large corps and in the militia which you already should know if you've played long enough.
@FrostbitexP13 жыл бұрын
@MrFel99 he controls it in his pod. the pod allows 1 man to pilot the ship BUT, theyre are crews on the ship too but they dont do much (reload guns etc)

i like it, just try not to get a mirror image of the ships, Omen and Cruci are both mirrored. Then again its nothing a small image swap wont fix. Awesome work by the way
@Xalthir12 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's kind of interesting. The way that ships are flown in EVE is that they are plugged directly into the neurological systems of your pilot and all systems on the ship are controlled by your brain functions, which means that yes, with the proper knowledge you could actually fly a Titan alone in this universe! :D
@TehParadocks13 жыл бұрын
@SuperSonicPsykic Basicaly, it is a capital ship. What it means? Heavy defenses, heavy source of energy, room to place tremmendous weaponry, energy, resources and space to place a so called doomsday device, which can pretty much anihilate any target (its so awesome you stand still for 10 minutes after firing it), and it also has plenty of supportive systems such as a hangar for fellow players, a "Clone vat bay" which means that when a player dies, he can respawn in it (correct me if im wrong)
@LKDesign14 жыл бұрын
Cool display. They certainly have created some nice designs. Though I would have liked if the biggest ship wouldn't look like a weird rock and more like a techno-ship like the Providence where you can actually fly into its geometrical details and caverns.
@PSPSMITH202211 жыл бұрын
I agree. The only disagreement I have is with the OP comment of them being "...too impractical." They have their place and purpose, but yes; for the most part, they'll only be used by big corps/alliances. Other capital ships are typically sighted much more regularly in EvE.

Wonderful video displaying these ships. Have you done any faction specific work? Would be a kick to see them import this video into the game to show players how to progress to bigger ships. Calling a ship a certain name doesn't give players an idea of just how massive or minuscule your ship really is, if its the same size in the hanger no matter what you do at default zoom. Would love to see a Caldari build of this, but thats personal preference.
