Differences from a Explorer perspective Elite dangerous vs. Eve Online ED: you are the pilot😊 EVE: you are the navigator🙄 ED: the loss of your ship means the loss of all your not delivered exploration data 😓 ED: the loss of your ship means the loss of the ship😑 Elite dangerous: 0.1% of the map has been discovered😲 Eve online: 100% of the map has been discovered multiple times😕 Elite dangerous: you can make a lot of money as an Explorer. About 1.5 billion credits for me so far.🤗 Eve online: ? 😁 Bonus in ED: systems that you discover first get your name stamped all over it.😍😍😍😍😍 Btw. I quit Eve after 6 years because my home system with all my stuff was flipped by the Triglavian invasion from 0.5 to -1.0. That gave me the opportunity to play Elite dangerous, which waited for me on my PC for about two years. And i never looked back.😊

Main difference is, in Elite Dangerous it's easy to make money so you don't really need it. In EvE, they employ an actual economist to keep an eye on things and money is really REALLY important, so how fast you make it makes a big difference as to what you can do in-game.

Nice introduction, though there are a couple of small inaccuracies - understandable as you haven't been playing long. In low sec, Concord won't come to your aid. The only assistance is from gate guns or station guns if you get attacked in the vicinity of either of those. In nul sec there is no Concord at all. It's the wild, wild west and anything goes. You didn't mention wormholes, areas which can provide great rewards, but at great risk. Two things to remember when playing Eve : only fly what you can afford to lose, and if you are trying to make ISK, generally the greater the reward, the greater the risk.

I played for years, got the golden old, and just didn't have time for a second job anymore. I love the art and world but to make real isk you need a group that is on when you are ready to play. I spent hours in wormhole space waiting for a big enough fleet to form and take on the pve content. I spent so much time probing out wormholes and sites that I didn't get to run due to a lack of fleet members. Same happened in null only to have the front line move while I worked so I spent that next night moving to the next staging area instead of playing. The most instant action I could get was faction warfare in low sec but it was a big money sink too when I lost my logistics ship or a run goes poorly. I eventually floated back up to high sec to run missions solo and incursions with my now limited game time but that gets old fast. I left right before the free to play change happened. I miss it but I can't go back.

CCP should bring back "Captain's Quarters" and actually do something with it, instead of letting it die like before. This game is great, and despite probably being the best space MMO out there right now, this game can still be better.

Even if you are just paying ISK for your ships in eve that ship has an equivalent value in USD. 1.5b ISK Is roughly equivalent to 15 USD.

Don't be fooled by the "director" nature of the ship manoeuvring. "Manually piloting" is required for the higher end of combat. There is a "manual" mode, but most people mean "clicking in space", aligning to tactical things, controlling range, controlling traversal. Honestly though, I wish Eve online some how incorporated the ED "hands on" dogfighting combat style.

11:00 he's trying to press Q when his active window is a chat bar, probably why it's not working. btw, it's a two part command where you choose a horizontal location (azimuth) and then you choose the vertical angle, before the command is complete....fyi, you can also double click anywhere in space and your ship will fly in that direction (it won't be a "point and click" experience though since its going infinitely in one direction) pvpers are mostly experienced in exploiting the latter system over a n00b's default "point and click" choices like a default "orbit" or "keep at range"

IMO elite is great for a hundred hours or so then you start noticing how repetitive and stagnant it is, as well as most of the game breaking for a year or so every time the devs put out a minor update.

12:30 in low sec the only police are static guns next to stargates/stations, and those are easily cheesed by pvpers (u just warp off to a 'ping' and back while your wingman keeps the target locked down)

you're at the stage where you do something fun, and risky, thinking it's profitable. which is cool. sadly, ccp has never addressed that core component of gameplay (it's like they've never played the game for real) and those "11 jumps" to and fro just killed your profit right there and then. you'd have been better off finding a system that has mostly dense veldspar (instead of basic & concentrated) asteroids in all its asteroid belts, on paper. actually, knowing how to blitz mining missions, for a solo player, is also profitable. but, i'd be curious as to how you went about it. gas mining in a venture...did you use a hauler to transport the gas, leaving the venture there?
@thetryhardgamer83872 жыл бұрын
No, all you need are "gas scoops" on a venture to then grab and store the gas.

wrong on star citizen, pretty much all it’s flyable ships can be bought in game. Eve is enjoyable and fleet battles is great. but it’s character skill mechanics are useless time syncs just to waste ur time micromanaging and does nothing but time gate. It will take months of skill point training to be effective pvper especially solo
@ickebins69482 жыл бұрын
It takes alot more time to be a "effective" pvper then the training time for the skills... Right now its laughable, when 6 month old toons want to pvp in a battleship... They might have the skills learned but they dont have the experience they need...

I've tried getting into Eve Online 5-6 times, and every time bounced off of the clunky user interface. I want to like this game, but I don't think I have the time to properly get into it any more...
@SlimThrull2 жыл бұрын
Yeah.... I played EVE for quite a few years (mostly off and on). The UI, by today's standards, is quite clunky. But on the other hand, if you can get by the UI, you might find you really enjoy the game. It certainly isn't for everyone, but the people that stick through the rougher/older edges of the game enjoy it enough.

so initially you and yours had the concept of eve online being like Star Citizen, just not vapourware. For myself, i also mocked eve online back in 2003, since me and mine would talk about its "point and click" gameplay.

I disagree, EVE online devs are a bunch of control freak sadist's who enjoy causing pain to the player base! What do I mean by that? I spent 14 years playing EVE and saw many times how the devs would weasel control over the most powerful 0.0 alliance just to harass the player base. Then they added the NPC super alien invaders, they had one the Triglavians that are still harasing empire space. Empire space is supposed to be the safest space in the game where concord protect's you. Well the dev's keep tweeking things in the game to make it possible and in most cases probable that you will get attacked on your journey from point A to point B. NPC pirates in EVE are called rats and the 0.0 rats are much more powerful than the empire rats. EVE dev's added these random pirate strongholds that would drop 0.0 rats onto you in empire, complete BS just to harass the player base in empire. They sell the game on their website as being open to all play styles but that is a lie. The only play style that they support fully is if you are a greifer that gets your kick's out of going around in gank squads where you out number the other player or players by a 4 to 1 margin or greater. They make sure that a player can always fit a destroyer class ship that cost maybe 6 million credits to outfit that is fully capable of destroying a several hundred million credit mining ship solo in the highest empire space before concord shows up. The gankers in EVE were bad enough but when they added the 0.0 pirates to empire space with the strongholds and the Triglavians both of which will hunt you down and podkill you, so you loose your implants as well as your ship. Implants alone can run you billions of credits to replace. I got sick and tired of the dam dev's constantly harrasing me just because my prefered game style play was to mine in peace! So if you want to build up resources in peace and just be left alone play Elite Dangerous instead! If you like having to deal with loosing everything you own every time you leave a station to either a player based gank squad or a random Pirate Stronghold drop or a Triglavian kill squad, play EVE! Oh yea, Eve online claims to be free to play, but a free to play player is only good as cannon foder for the npc rats even in empire space because you cannot fit the best ships, guns, and modules.

troll, no way that you played EvE for 14 years. I would know who you are if that was true, its a one single shard world after all. The dev's do what they do so that the game does not stagnate, the game core is the living player driven economy, and guess what happens when everyone just sits safe and horde their ISK ? the economy dies and that hurts all players.
@fenriders70082 жыл бұрын
@@TheCephalus I’ve played for 15 going on 16 years soon, I don’t know who the fuck you are… do you really play eve? It’s a single shard universe after all. Triglav and edencom ganks are entirely avoidable by killing a single drone in pochven to gain neutral or above with both factions.
