Lyrics:
So denied so I lied are you the now or never kind
In a day and a day love I'm gonna be gone for good again
Are you willing to be had are you cool with just tonight
Here's a toast to all those who hear me all too well
Here's to the nights we felt alive
Here's to the tears you knew you'd cry
Here's to goodbye
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
Put your name on the line along with place and time
Wanna stay not to go I wanna ditch the logical
Here's a toast to all those who hear me all too well

This song is the epitome of what nostalgia sounds like. Reminds me of all the places, people, friends, family, teachers, neighbors, and fellow students who shared those high school years with me. Many of those things are now nothing but a distant memory or photograph if you're lucky. Nothing hurt worse than having a crush on someone where that person was your entire world and believing that those times (good or bad) would last forever was such a youthful way of thinking. I wish I could go back and experience just one more day of my late 90's/early 2000's life. On a side note, I would also throw in Smashing Pumpkins "1979" as the alternative songs from this era that touch the soul of my teenage years.

We were lucky and we never even knew it.

It's funny, when you're in your teens and twenties, you have no concept of how much things will change. I guess I knew life would change as I got older, but I had no idea how much. Or how bad the change would be. Music, movies, human interaction, etc...everything feels worse now than in the 90's-2008 or so. I'm 38 btw. Class of '99.

We played this song at my friend's Stevie's funeral back in 2001. She died in a car accident when she was 16 from not wearing her seat belt. Another classmate was driving. He survived even though he went through the windshield. She went through the side window and got smashed between the car and the guard rail, from the hips down. The kid that was driving found her in the field. When the ambulance got there they said she was awake and talking. They said she wasn't in any pain. She really didn't know what was going on cuz while they were digging chunks of her stomach out of the weeds she was laughing and joking around. She died during surgery two hours later I believe. I cry every time i hear this song. It makes think of her. She was beautiful, smart, happy fun, out going the list could go on. She was going to be a writer. I love you Stevie. I know I will see you in heaven. 💞

The days of super soaker fights, late nights, game playing and sneaking out. This song reminds me of that as well as the memories in high school. We were very young, and couldn't wait to be out of school and in the world, now I'd give anything to get thoes days back. We never knew how good we had it, how fun and simple things were. Knowing I at one point was going to high school parties and having fun with friends. I have a couple of friends I still talk to from back then but we have families now and are just too busy with life in general. Me and my childshood friends literally played this when we found out one of my friends was evicted, the other had a divorce and had to move out with his father, my neighbor friends who included a girl I had a crush on was moving out of her family even though they were born there, we just sat there sad and some cried, I have our videos we use to record too. Thinking of uploading it someday. All my child hood friends left one by one. It was so hurtful as a teenage kid with all those beautiful memories with those friends to have them gone in an instant. I couldn't believe it and I thought they will all come back. I was so sad and asked my Dad why did they have to leave. He just responded to me, "that's life kid. Sometimes we're gonna hate it and sometimes we are gonna love it, just be thankful you got to experience those great times as friends" I managed to link up with one of those friends. Hopefully I run into the others someday too

Class of '02 "We are the Millennials." My fellow brethrens 00 - 05, at the time the Internet was coming of age, social media was nonexistent, parks and play ground was filled with kids. Christmas was actually still Christmas (without all the electronics and gadgets) the 90's were still alive and the horrific events of 9/11. Today's culture is so technologically different. The 80's 90's and the 00's. Those period of times all have that special connection in my humble opinion.

Everyone reminiscing about 90s teenage years remembers a party exactly like the one in the video. We weren't there to get wasted. We weren't there to look at a screen. We were there to make memories, to relax and connect with our friends in a way that just doesn't happen anymore. We were there because the girl or guy we were crushing on was going to be there. All the guys had that girl like the one in the video who just stole our attention, who would cause us to grab a certain seat or walk a particular path through the house just so we could take in her beauty and try and work up the courage to go say hi. The funny thing is that all week we could talk to her at school, joke with her and be ourselves. But as soon as we all got dressed to go out things changed and she became so much more than our classmate.

Keep your heart on a string-you’re gonna need to save it for someone who loves you back the same

It's just funny how the adults always tell you that you're gonna miss high school yet you can't wait to grow up and, other than maybe the couple tears on graduation day, you don't see anything sad about it. You're just on to the next chapter. yet 10 plus years on, there's this painful nostalgia to certain songs and movies and shows. It's the most odd bittersweet feeling, it hurts but it also make you smile. Just a part of life I guess, I wish I'd have listened more and stopped to smell the roses here and there

Hi Christina - Great comment. That's why this song endures. Talented artists like Eve 6 give us songs that bring us back, or send a powerful message that makes us think about what is most important in life. Man what a great song! In my top 10! I was homeschooled and graduated in 2006, there were 32 of us from my small county in Central Montana. We were a really tight group from elementary through all of highschool. We dated within our group, worked with each other, studied, travelled, and competed both with and against one another. In 2012 my best friend Mark passed away. In 2015 my best friend Caleb passed away just three weeks before my wedding where he was my best man. We've all gone our separate ways, started families, doing the adult thing. But those experiences shaped me and predetermined much of my future, as childhood does for us all.

I've always liked Eve6. When I was an 18 year old high school senior in 2001 I won a trip from Anchor Blue to see Eve6 in concert and go backstage for a meet and greet. The promotion was "Meet Eve6 In The Blueroom". The singer, Max, was the so rude to me and my guest and pretty much everyone else there. Tony and Jon couldn't have been more polite and fun - they actually ate pizza with us and hung out for a while. Despite Max and his bad evening or whatever, they're still one of my favorites!
