Lyrics:
Nothing's so loud
As hearing when we lie
The truth is not kind
And you've said neither am I
But the air outside so soft is saying everything
Everything
All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say...
Nothing's so cold
As closing the heart when all we need
Is to free the soul
But we wouldn't be that brave I know
And the air outside so soft, confessing everything
Everything

I want this era back! 🙁 The 90s were the last decade of the greatest, most original and creative music with the deepest lyrics. Sure, there are some good musicians today but nothing beats the 90s and 80s. The world wasn't as divided, people got along more. Yes, there was crime, etc. but there is much more hate and anger today than ever. Things were more affordable then too.

Every generation has said that with each passing decade lol. The same music we got tired of hearing on the radio every time we switched it over are now the songs we wax nostalgic about in our later years. Guarantee you our folks don’t feel the same way about this music too. I’m not going to suddenly like Drake or Taylor Swift because I got older but my kids will look back in 15 years and tell me “they just don’t make music like they used to anymore” while Anti Hero plays on the oldies station

Summer 1992 Met my future husband Young, driving around rural roads, long summer days into night, holding hands with a new love, wind blowing thru hair & just not caring how i look, more that i feel incredible at this moment. It's been more than 30 years & yet this song transports me to a time in my life that i wish i was still living. This song represents my young adulthood, being with my love yet feeling more free than i ever have, feeling safe & secure, strong & so frickin' optomistic of life. How was i to anticipate that just 4 years later, my love is murdered, my heart is shattered & I'm left to raise the offspring of our love.....alone. He looks exactly like him. He just turned 30. I held my breath the year he turned 23, so afraid I'd lose him too. Miss you everyday ❤ I thank God for this song & it's ability to take me back in time & feel safe again. Whatever happens will be...

+Ernie Velveeta Well this is not typical of 90s music, that was shitpop Beatles wannabee tuneless boyband, poncy brainless boybands and barbie bimbos, all of which couldn't sing, play an instrument or write one meaningful line to save their pointless lives. Plus howling tuneless harpies of crap like Mariah Carey, Gabrielle, Celine Dion, Sheryl Crow etc. That's even before we get to the rap shit and the lieks of 2 Unlimited. No, I only miss the 90s in that some carefree school days (well a few) summer holidays and time of my extreme youth has long gone, PLUS we had aCD market cos the internet and social media were still a few years away before they destroyed the music market AND we got even worse truds to the add to the shit STILL going. AND Madonna STILL isn't fucking dead. No, the 80s had the best all round talent, despite its extreme dodgiiness to letting women stand alone and its xenophobia to Gemrna artists, of which two of them provided the best music to rival the greatest UK artists. But I was way too young for the 80s while it was happening, and would not have liked not having access to later things (not necessarily music) I have now. Nonetheless, music is as dead as shit and has been for past t o decades at the very least. But this guys sings so damned nicely. And the song is so nice too. Where DID they go? Same with Ten Sharp and their only known song 'You'. Yet these days you can't get rid of ANYTHING shit!!!!

+Kyach Distent Err, MAriah Carey/Celine Dion are both very talented singers that can sing well WITHOUT lip-syncing nor auto-tuning. I understand if it's not your taste in music, but to throw them in with the likes of "boybands" and such is a disservice. You also had other great female singers/bands in the 90's like Jewel, Alanis Morissette, The Cranberries, Annie Lennox, Melissa Etheridge, Garbage, No Doubt, etc.
@kyachdistent1301
@kyachdistent1301 8 жыл бұрын
It's NOT music, Pariah Carey has NO talent, beyond an arrogant posturing thinking she's God's flaming gift, all the while doing nothing to justify it with an utter rubbish repertoire of bullshit she calls songs AND one hell of a lousy singing voice. Shrieking, holwing, caterwauling is NOT singing, and all it does is draw attention to just how bad the songs actually are-she just makes them even worse. Some talent that! Annie Lennox is from the 80s so why you';re mentioning her I'll never know. No Doubt are bullshit-she's a shrieking twat in the Madonna mould like most of them. Morissette got better once she learnt to sing after her first album and her songs got better. Jewel I never hear of. The 80s females can't be bettered obviously, but Wilson Phillips, Ace Of Base Cathy Dennis and a few others from the 90s managed it. If the likes of Dion and Carey WERE autotuned, it would be an improvement-knocking out the horror holwing! And again, their songs are shit. Dion managed a couple of good ones, but that was a million yeras ago. My taste in music is to love it. But what followed the 80s to this day is not music, but a dreadful mishmash of what is called "product"-a recycled blurb of nothing refitted for a basic audience completely happy to be easily led and demanding nothing better. And wow what ashit personality that arrogant plastic grinning barbie Craey's got. Clearly Madonna the vile is the nasty bitch's template, when she's not trying to be a white Whitney Houston in the "voice" category! Kim Wilde, Sandra, Kirsty MacColl, Pat Benatar, Voice of the Beehive sisters, Julieanne Regan of All About Eve, Chrissie Hynde, Toyah Willcox, Maggie Reilly, Stevie Nicks, Agnetha and Frida of ABBA and solo wise, Alison Moyet, Sade, Cyndi Lauper, Carol Decker of T'Pau, Laura Branigan, Tracy Tracy of Primitives, Belinda Carlisle, Bangles, Darling Buds, Claudia Brucken, Grace Jones, Deborah Harry, Siobhan Fahey of Shakespears Sister, Aimee Mann of 'Til Tuesday-THESE are the women that matter. We were spoiled in the 80s., though a stupid marketplace didn't appreciate it. Now we're in barbie slut and howling harridan hell, with every song as awful and useless as the last! What a decade we live in-as were the last two. Social media is strongly to blame-but so is the complete dumbing down of talent. Imagine any other job in the world which basically said in the ad-"any unqualified loser with no talent who merely wants to be famous for famous sake can apply!" Wouldn't happen!!
@gyloir
@gyloir 8 жыл бұрын
+Kyach Distent I don't know what happened to you to make you hate some people so much. You seem to not be able to separate the music from the person's personality singing it. Madonna might not be the role model for women but both her and Mariah Carey are talented singers with powerful voices that don't need to be auto-tuned to sound good to most people. You never heard of Jewel? Look up her songs, "Who will save your soul," "Foolish games," "You were meant for me," and many more, she was one of the best female singers of the 90's. No Doubt is nothing like Madonna. They were heavily influenced by Ska music, punk, rock, etc. Also gwen is nothing like Madonna in terms of her personality or things, she doesn't run around or try to act "out there," I think you are confusing Lady Gaga with no doubt/Gwen. Also I listed Annie lennox because she had her solo career in the 90's. Why, No More I love yous, etc were great songs from here among others. You realize a lot of good female singers that were around in the 80's were still around in the 90's. Sandra for instance did a lot of the vocals for the band, Enigma, which her husband and her formed in the 90's. They had some great hits like Return to innocence, Sadness, Mea Culpa, Rivers of belief, etc.

I have ears, eyes and am subjected to one piece of bullshit after another, with people spewing out other bullshit about these losers being great. It's called having taste. The person &the twat trying to sing it ARE the same. It's well-known Madogga's been one of the vilest people in existence forever, with a whole host of people trashed in her wake to claw herself up to where she got. POWERFUL?! Her anorexic nasally whine when she's not barking like an inbred hound?! Hello, she's spent all of the 90s and noughties fed through tonnes of machinery to make her half palatable and even THEN it didn't work. She can never find a key to sing in, she's unable to, and has lip-synched live and on TV for decades. Craey has a howling awful screech-her songs are shit, as is she. I won't tell you again.Obviously you're a clone to these losers with no opinion of your own-that's hateful! Carey needs autotuning-anything to turn off that yelling RAAAA!! death squawk of hers that never EVER shuts up. "She don't sing, she follows her hand" said Mark Lamarr, and Toyah said she can't sing. And she can't! Howling ain't singing. Jewel's voice I tend to hear on soundtracks-I'm not saying it's not pleasant, but she's nothing special. On the other hand, how can you know she can sing when three other hags you're defending here so clearly can't. Stefani has a nasty girly shriek and she sounds like a twat. Ska has always been a daft genere of music, but it had it's time in 1980 and has been defunct for decades and what she attyempts is not that. Granted 'Don't Speak' is a good song, but she ruins it with her pointless, repetitive shrieking. Any 80s singer would have done it better. Her solo stuff, bar the gorgeous 'Early Winter' (where she still whines in bits) which sounds like an 80s ballad any great 80s girl could have done, is even worse. 'Underneath It All' would have been fine without the stupid rap. I know full well whst Sandra did-more importantly I have all her solo albums and know what she was doing long before the sad US and UK only accpeted her as part of her then husband's project, but she's been doing better songs than those, and having hits with them in most other countries since 1985. Shares award with the great Kim Wilde for most records/albums/singles sold across Europe through the 80s and 90s. AND Slagdonna knows her-she's been stealing from her songs-among many others-for ages! Yes Annie Lennox was solo in the 90s that makes sense-in fact her solo stuff, while tending to be overlong, tends to be far better than the Eurythmics generally, which Dave Stewart is probably a lot to blame for, but even Annie overdoes a good song with needless voiceovers where she over-enunciates/shows off to know good end and hurls the song into oblivion, but this is far more a feature of the Eurtythmics horrors-they did some terrible tunes, but her solo stuff I generally like, and it's sung a lot better, though 'Love Song For Vampire' is terribly boring and 'Walking On Broken Glass' sounds awfully dated for a 1992 tune, but still listenable.

Man, I miss music being mixed this way. Not only is this a great performance artistically, but the mix very well done. Lots of detailed transients that give it a lot of character, instruments spread across the spectrum, beautiful reverb that rings without muddying it up, and room for the louder parts to build excitement. So many people don't realize that a lot of that "magic" quality of older music (1995 and earlier) is partly due to the mixing practices, where leaving enough headroom allowed it to come through. A true joy to listen to.

***** They actually released an album in 2013 called New Constellation. Unfortunately, it has fallen victim to the bad mixing practices of today (very squashed microdynamics) so it's a bit stuffier sounding than these early 90s songs. That doesn't mean you can't like the songs artistically speaking, of course.

@@charlesswitzer8378 Those after you will feel the same way in their own time stretch. For most of us, it is the time of our lives when we are on the edge of teendom and often into the 20’s. For me and my compatriots it was the late 60’s (Woodstock era) on past college past disco to punk to electronica and so on. I’ve put that on simmer and now pursue young up and coming groups much to my belief that there is STILL great music out there. These days it is just harder to do. Like drinking from a fire hose on the music and social media sites. The base has broadened past where record company execs controlled what would be heard simply because there was no other competing outlet. There are many great groups lost along the way. I’ll give you one to check out. Fanny, an all woman rock band (made up of a few who were unlikely minorities to boot!) in the music dominated by men in the 60’s and early 70’s that could write AND could play. Seek out their documentary. Today, they’d be at the forefront in any streaming format, etc.

Even heartbreak can be beautiful when it's written like this: "Nothing's so cold as closing the heart when all we need Is to free the soul... but we wouldn't be that brave I know And the air outside so soft, confessing everything... Everything"

It's been almost 20 years since I last found this. I wanted eternal youth. I remember summer and life in bloom. Today, spring and I was playing with Great Pyrenees pup named Anjers. I'd love to feel either way, always. Goodtimes are timeless.

I've noticed though that _lots_ of places in general actually tend to play older songs from the 80s and 90s a lot more often than current songs. Which is just sad because it tells you more than anything else just how bad today's songs really are.

Saw these guys in Eugene in 91' after this song dropped and was going huge on MTV. They were a small band and could not believe the hype they were suddenly getting. Seriously, some unknown people guy playing mandolin opened for them then they came on and played this song and the crowd went nuts.

Right when the music starts it takes you right back to 1992. I was in middle school and I had the cassette tape. We didn’t know how good we had it growing up in the 90s with the best music. #classof98
