Saw this on TV, when I was a kid. Even had a toy. Windup motorcycle that shot across the floor and did stunts. Krazy dude until the day he died. 🤙✌

I got mine for Christmas, but it was gyroscope powered, and made in Japan. He ended up his career by getting ripped- off by his own manager/ promoter. Evel was convicted, and served a couple years for his savage baseball-bat attack on his own manager that left the guy comatose; just barely hanging on. Knievel confessed, of course
@steamroller1474 Жыл бұрын
I one also! That dude was crazy always out of action after each stunt for like 2 years.

I remember those jumps Evel used to do. They were always broadcast live on ABC’s Wide World of Sports on Saturday afternoons. It would be a couple hours of build up and then he’d finally do the jump. Then we’d go outside and build ramps out of whatever we could find and pretend to be Evel on our bicycles.
@m00ndawg Жыл бұрын
Our ramp was called Suicide and yea everybody wanted to be Evel. He didnt just popularize motorcycles he popularized bmx bikes

Evel gave his approval to George to produce the movie after George read the script to him (per George's telling in a documentary about Evel), then wound up saying he hated it. At least Robbie got to jump a section of the Grand Canyon on a motorcycle before he died, too. Father/Son buried side by side...

I saw this in the theater in June ,1971 it had only been out in our area a few weeks . It’s a part of a ( then) 6 year olds anatomy . I got bruised , beat up , thrown over handle bars a bunch as a “ professional” bicyclist daredevil ! Anybody know who did the main musical theme “ I do what I please”? It almost sounds like Joe Cocker . ❤😊

I saw this on "Friday Night Movie" Maybe 1974, so I was 12 at the time. Also saw him as a guest on the late show, mother let me stay up on a school night, if I washed the dishes. Always drawing pictures of motorcycles, and the common "ape-hanger" handlebars on every kids bicycle(with banana seat) suddenly switched over to motocross style with a decorative gas tank.

I didn't realize when I saw this movie as a kid that it's a black comedy. George Hamilton gives a somewhat rounded performance portraying a man who had a two-dimensional personality. No wonder the real Evel didn't like it.

Because a slower heartbeat means a stronger heart. Football players have 60 - 70 bpm. A rapid, really fast heartbeat is tachycardia. Not good.
