When I was a kid, I lived not far from the Snake river jump site. That whole episode scared the H outta me, but it was a big thrill, too. Evel captured the imagination of America in a time before screens and computers came to dominate the world. He was the last of the big tent showmen. Made his mark, lived hard. Wild man.

Grew up watching Knievel on Wild World Of Sports, never missed a single jump of his. Had a Honda SL 70 that I jumped the creek next to my grandfather’s farm on a Honda 250( about 100 feet across) and had half of the kids in town watching me do it in 1977 hoping I’d crash ( which I did after landing).

Its been decades, but one late afternoon I took care of this man at a hospital waiting for the pain Dr. There wasn't a lot of interaction as he was in the most SEVERE pain I had ever seen in my 50 year surgical nurse career. Please excuse what I'm going to say next,( i hope not to offend anybody ) there is no intent to sound blasphemous, But our LORD Jesus must have been way beyond what Mr EK was experiencing! !Ive only seen it twice in my career, there are just no words.RIP Mr EK

The silver Honda dirt bike George Eads rides in the cougar jumping scene is about 10 years too new. Looks to me like a 1974 model. The big 4 Japanese motorcycle makers didn't make dirt bikes until Yamaha in 1969, and the scene takes place before Evel Knievel was famous, which would be before 1967. If Evel was using a dirt bike back then, and considering he lived in Montana, it most likely would have been a Hodaka or a Husqvarna.

Yep, 1974 CR125. My grade school buddy had that same bike in 1976.

I think old version of this movie was better in some ways but that’s just my opinion.

He jumped the cougar in 1965 on a bike that wasn't made until the 70s. Minor oversight lol

How could he jump cougars on an Elsinore in 1965 when it didn't come out till 1973. People notice these details keep it realistic if that's even possible

@lonewolf5896 Thanks for backing me up but I was curious because when I was a kid my local Harley shop had a XR750 in the showroom but I checked and HD didn't start making the XR750 until 1970. Evil made most of his jumps on one but he jumped the fountain Dec 31,1967. Evil used a Triumph Bonneville TT in 1967 and 1968.

Bwaaa!!!! At 11:12 he starts the bike, puts it in gear without using the clutch. The camera pans away to look as though he's pulling away and the bike sounds like it's revving while he's not giving it any throttle!!!!! LMAO

He prefered Triumph because of the balance of the bike, but when the factory wouldn’t sponsor him , Harley stepped up with the XR 750, a race proven bike on the flat track. Triumph made a big mistake in not giving him bikes that would have given them far more publicity and sales.
@johnlennon865310 күн бұрын
@@hudson8865Had a 75 Mt 250 on/ off road very much like that one, except for having lights that I took off when racing in the mid 70s. Had oil injection instead of pre mix. Used to add a bit of Testors/ Cox airplane fuel into the oil injection when I raced for a little bit more octane boost.

haha, right, they tried to hard to show the drama, but since they did it poorly they just filled it with the poorly executed dramatic scenes of his career. Alas making for a kind of boring movie, from something that should have been great!
