For me it's one of the best things HBO has ever made. And I think the documentary that I loved quite a bit was American factory! Now that's a different take on cities and towns dying because business leave them. Also Da 5 Bloods, man what a movie! What a movieeeee. One of the best of the best! ...But their disaster movies tho, lol! Yes, gotta love the famed Train to Busan. Not by the same company, I believe, but I also love the Reactor. I think that's what it was called, about a nuclear reactor exposion. Also watched Parasite on Hulu, which was good but a hint all over the place tonally to me. It being listed as a comedy is extremely misleading. It will make you laugh at parts but it needs more tags than just "comedy". Otherwise, certainly recommend it. Korean cinematography seems really on par with America's with these recent movies (I love you, Japan, but sometimes your live-action characters over-react, under-react, and the terrible CGI steals the show, lol!). Also, the glimpses of the culture I've seen in movies feels kind of different from other Asian countries. Like...it's both Asian and westernized (not just by tech or fashion) at the same time. It's interesting.

Korra Book 3 and the first half of book 4 are really SOOO brilliant. I hope Evelyn gives it a chance! OMG I loved watching Never Have I Ever!!!!! It probably took me only 1 sitting, and it reminded me of some of the YA novels I read about Indian-American teen girls and their journeys thru adolescence. There's Born Confused by Tanuja Desai Hidier, When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, and many others. There was another novel I was trying 2 remember about a young, aspiring fashion writer/designer from an Indian-American family who is asked by her favorite designer 2 watch her kid as part of gettin an internship. If any1 remembers, it would be much appreciated. Still, I was very excited 2 see this as another way to increase more visibility for the South Asian youth coming up in the world, especially in the media.
@kkdylm4 жыл бұрын
I HAVE to contribute to the LOK conversation!!! One of my biggest issues wasn't necessarily the characters (Korra surprisingly didn't get on my nerves that much) but the direction in which the story was told. I felt like it went from ALA to REALLY DARK, really fast. (End of season one...hello?!?) I'm surprised some parts were even aired on Nickelodeon. Also, I guess I understand the premise that Korra had to learn from the past three enemies to "conquer" the final one who was most like herself, but Kuvira was so lackluster compared to the others. I hate that the series didn't end with a bang.

Firstly, let's give it up to the editing of this video! Baby bro did that! Also, great closed captioning and use for emphasis. So I guess that's kudos to the editing too. Unfortunately there will not be a next season, so she will forever be a mess. As for Little Fires Everywhere, I thought the Reese Witherspoon's character was oppressed, nosy, elitist, privileged, oppressive and overbearing. Kerry Washington's character was selfish, oppressed, controlling, and nosy. The children were also oppressed, but good show.

Was looking for this comment 😔 With the creators leaving I don’t see a way the show is still gonna be good

@@momodias1997 agreed! Idk why they want to remake it anyway. Kids still love the original and it seems like a money grab tbh

Oh, no. They won’t have the budget to do the effects that would make it close to good enough. And the original creators leaving the production? That’s bad juju.

Netflix could use thaf money and just fund us another season of ATLA (animated of course). Animate the comic where we find out what happened to Zuko's mama! That would be better than a live action series without the creators' input.

I would highly recommend Carole & Tuesday for all the feels and great cameos from musicians, it was a show that pleasantly surprised me. Russian Doll if you haven't seen it is a dark comedy with Natasha Lyonne that I loved and lastly Search Party is a highly comical satire about millennials who get caught up in some criminal shenanigans.

The criticism of She's Gotta Have It was SPOT ON. The dialogue was nails on a chalkboard.

Loved blood and water. Reminded me of my teenage years with the school uniforms in private schools, braids , pools parties and strict parents lol!

Your explanation of Little Fires made me want to watch it. You were so right, Mia was very shady 😂😂😂 I was like, woman, I'm trying to root for you. And that ending, who'd have thought, right???

1. I passed on “The Half of It,” but now hearing what you say about it, I think I’ll give it a watch! 2. “High Fidelity” I really liked Zoë Kravitz in this! I also felt the storylines for Cherise and Simon were strange. Simon’s was *so* short and they were trying to fit everything in for his story and it felt so forced. Didn’t like it. They could have just passed on his story. I like Cherise, and I thought there would be more about the girls who stole music, and her ultimately working with them. I actually liked the way her story was going but then it just cut off. Weird. 3. One of my friends *loves* “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra” so I’ve seen a couple episodes of Avatar, but I think I’m going to give it a watch now on my own. 4. I liked The Lovebirds! I watched it twice. And I watched it twice remotely with other people. Maybe it’s one of those “you gotta watch with others” movies. I totally agree, their chemistry was “Best Buds” for the most part. Which was weird considering the premise. I felt like when they were buying funny new clothes, it was a little more intimate and romantic. But otherwise: total best buds. I still liked it, though ^_^ It makes me wonder if Issa and Kumail really just wanted to work with each other and they were like, “Hey! How bout this?” When they could have just waited to write something together or be in a movie together where they were best buds! Loved hearing all your thoughts on these movies, documentaries, and shows! Have you watched “Bob’s Burgers” or “A Black Lady Sketch Show?”

IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKED OUTER BANKS. I binged the entire show in 2 days. It looks so stupid, but it’s so so good. Probably one of my favorite shows, and I don’t pick favorites easily. JJ (second white boy) is my son, I love him, too. The way they develop/reveal the depth of the characters (and specifically JJ) is really well crafted.

I wanted to shout-out the editor!!1 The little pan ins and pan outs, the subtitles the way the audio is edited. These little touches makes the video so much funnier and enjoyable. SO thank you so much for your hard work.

Loved Crip Camp ... honestly a story I’d never heard. I made myself sit through Athlete A no matter how difficult it got, cause I felt I needed to hear their stories. I needed to give them my time. I couldn’t get through Outer Banks ... they kept making so many stupid mistakes ... I’ll finish it soon tho cause I had the same favorite character as you. His development was *chef’s kiss*.

To answer you questions about Westworld The year: 2050-ish "Why would any woman go back to the Wild West for funzies...": Fetishization of the "old days" in the west (think old westerns and black and white films)... and sex and violence... lots of sex and violence. Loved the show LMAO. I lived vicariously through all those non-black women enjoying the park.

Recommendation: Infinity Train!! It's on HBO Max. Pretty good animated show with comedy, drama, unique premise and visual style esp for animation, and good character arcs that follow young people but with themes that also apply to adults (e.g. how to navigate trauma, relationships, emotions). It's an anthology series, and each season or "book" as they refer to it is 10 episodes that are each ~10 minutes. I just finished all 3 seasons last night and really enjoyed all of it.
