It IS still important that she not move (or get moved around) any more than absolutely necessary before assessment and (if needed) the leg immobilized and taken to E.R. for appropriate treatment. As to "shorter", there are treatments for that, too. They're painful (involving breaking the bone and "stretching" by a traction device, the last I looked) and expensive, but it's certainly not necessarily a permanent issue. It'll depend on how much shorter (mm versus cm, essentially) and the over-all risk versus reward as assessed when they get this fracture or series of fractures treated. The femur is THE strongest and most durable single bone in human anatomy, AND the human body's ability to heal and recover are pretty amazing, so treat first... then worry about reconstructions or whatever in the case the leg's shorter enough to throw her back out or put her under needless strain. ;o)

One moment of inattention , several years of inactivity. This was on a big plate in a Danish workshop with big machines. "Et øjebliks uopmærksomhed , flere års uvirksomhed" Strangely enough the worst accidents in workshops happen to the most experienced workers , saying "I could control this machine blindfolded" . Once the machine got your finger , it doesn't let go. It will pull out the tendon up to the elbow.
