I've had a blast with my Firebird. The stock missiles gave me issues, but after upgrading them to Chaos IIIs I have been able to take out the main HRT or VHRT target from stealth and then get out of harm's way before the AI could even lock me. Like with my beloved Sabre Comet, it's all about playing to the strength of the ship and knowing when to retreat, re-enter a stealth profile, and then re-engage. I actually had a player bounty cursing me out about fighting dirty and not honorably dogfighting or something which I thought odd coming from a pile of flaming space debris on its way to Klescher, but hey, not everyone understands the purpose of stealth. ;)

in the PTU CIG has changed all missiles to be exactly the same in each size. they are all now slower and have farther minimum and maximum lock ranges than previously

It is *really* dangerous as a support craft in PvP . It's stealth is high enough that you're gonna be outside someone's detection range by the time you launch missiles while someone else is keeping them busy

Had to fight a player in a firebird yesterday and it’s really hard to get that thing locked. He just kept disappearing from radar and fired multiple missiles my way. Ultimately one of em hit, took out the left engine of my buccaneer and left me spiraling. So I guess if one is really good with this ship it can be a viable option against smaller ships in PvP.

A Buc is the ship I really want, but now I don't know I really hate the cockpit windows too many lines. So I think ill go with this ship I really love the Buc's look the engines are hot asf lol but I'd go with this one for the better display.

The Firebird is a true ninja. It can launch missiles outside of most other ship's detection range, and if you do get caught, You have interceptor tuning and speed to pretty much outrun anything

I love this thing way more than I was expecting. Steal striking ships and killing them (or severely disabling) in 1 volley is very satisfying. I was able to take down a 600i with 12 missiles so I think this thing is very well suited for pve bounties if you dont like dog fighting. Just have to make sure the targets have their shields down and dont target you. Now that it will have 24, I can see it doing some VERY serious damage to unaware targets. I think the lack of guns is fine tbh since if you're needing to use them, you probably should be out of that fight already. Its really not meant for dog fighting even though it has some insane maneuverability.

CIG needs to decide how effective missiles will be. IRL they dominate air to air combat. But flares and ECM are really effective in this game along with poor missile tracking and slow speed.

i got it just because future boff they set. love missile bouts too, and shrike was only one till this come out. i try bounty on player and it did miracle with missiles. its style is hit and run, similar to polaris they announce, or eclipse... looks on it is just bonus. when i tested i didnt die at all fast and i did HRT with it too.

I got a CCU to it and have one from store credits now to further testing when the servers are back to somewhat stable state. First 2 tests all the missiles did nothing to targets.... bugged =/

Yeah, I have been testing the Firebird for days. In a fair fight face to face combat it is hopelessly outgunned by most, however using her speed&stealth attacking from the shadow she can take down just about anything especially with the weapon&stealth buff. The Firebird is not designed to fight ‘fair’ TBH if had to name her i would have given it the ‘little viper’ designation.

If it more guns and less missiles, I'd have grabbed it instantly. I love its aesthetics. But man, being able to fire 4 volleys of 6 missiles is tempting given what I've seen.

I refunded my Cutty Red and want to get a fighter. I'm really torn between this and the F7C/A. The F7A actually has less HP, is a little slower, and has the same shields. It has more firepower and is a little more maneuverable. I really like the concept of missile boats and stealth though! Tough decision!

Pretty ship and it flies nice but missiles are a waste and it highlights how broken radar is. In dcs radar and missiles reach out quite a bit farther and thats based on real world capabilities. In space, where theres nothing between your radar and a target we've devolved and lost technology. Radar barely works and my dashboard has no dimmer switch for those dark nights...

CIG needs to consult actual fighter pilots. TheFM can be more basic then DCS but for god’s sake can basic tech like radar be quickly discernible and missiles be more reliable.

I think the Firebird is a cool ship, but it just doesn't feel effective. Especially now that master modes has made ship combat much harder. I've been struggling to do LRTs with it. Sometimes I can barely manage to kill the target and run from the adds, but other times I can throw all 12 missiles and all ~4000 rounds at the target and it doesn't die.

This one is a pass for me. For a extra light fighter, I prefer the Arrow. It is smaller, also very zippy, and I prefer the gun layout. Missiles are "mit or miss" without the hits right now. A single seather ship should not be able to limp away after a light fighter/bomber spent ALL of its paylod on it, while a regular light fighter can light it up in 2-3 passes. On paper, you get "starter ship" levels of performance, plus a few (currently) not very useful missiles. You have the advantage in speed and signature, but you're also a fragile one trick pony. I know the top PVPers can use this to great effect, but they also used to use the Pisces a few patches back and won 1v10. In my eyes, this the fighter equivalent of a sports cabrio: It can do the basics you'd expect, but it is overpriced and has not real benefit for the average person besides bragging rights. I like the concept, I just don't think the current state of SC lends itself well to a stealth missile fighter. Both stealth and missiles need a fix/rework to be more impactful.

No! If you hold F4 and tap the HOME key multiple times it will create a DOF in third person, END key to bring it back.

Why is everyone spreading so much misinformation about this ship? First of all, ballistic gatlings are by far the weakest guns now, so I don't understand why you call them "fantastic". Second, calling it a beast because it has a lot of missiles is kind of misleading, because half the time missiles simply don't work, which means half the time you are pretty useless in this ship. Third, this ship is NOT stealthier than an Eclipse! With the right tuning you can get your highest sig on the Eclipse down to something like 3500 -40% and roughly 4200 -20% (soon -40%) on the Firebird. If he really couldn't lock you while you could lock him it means he had bad settings and equipment, or most likely a high IR sig cause he somewhat recently used his NAV mode. Plus with how much faster it dies than the base Sabre once the shields are down, I think spviewer's 15k hull HP are more realistic.

I want to let you know I did not spread any misinformation, ballistics are very viable but also currently experiencing MM balancing just like laser repeaters which also do hardly anything. Second, I said I spotted the eclipse before he spotted and targeted me. At that moment I WAS stealthier than him, he probably didn’t know operate his modes correctly giving him a higher EM than he should have. You have to know my reviews are my opinions based off personal experience AND hard stats. I do love your comment though, as more information for people to see the better!

I am subscribed to your channel for a reason and opinion is obviously fine, but you presented these points like facts.
