1 note about the corsair - the cargo grid leaves a LOT of room in the back. If you load off-grid you can fit 3 x 32scu containers easily and quite a few more boxes on top of those and at the back all the way to the ramp. You just need to use the lift to enter/exit after!

Same. I melted my useless ion for an Aquila but then jump town started and the Connie upgrade path happened. Had to melt my game package, buy a new one then upgrade to the Corsair. Currently my fleet is cutless, Corsair, F8C, Zeus MK2, Carrack, nursa, pieces and Ursa. Might change one to an eclipse at some point.

Congrats on 5K! Well deserved! Flying my Corsair takes me back to the good old days when I would drive around in my dad's old Ford F100. Temperamental, leaky, rickety, random parts falling off, lots of pointy, rusty bits poking out to injure yourself on, bristling with weaponry . . . all the fun stuff! If they ever get to the point in the game where you can modify the interior - I'd remove the table in the common area and put in an old ratty couch and a wall-sized screen next to the crapper.

I really love the Constellation series, with the Taurus and Andromeda being my favorites, but I always feel like the Corsair is just an upgraded Connie. A little less cargo than an Andromeda, but more guns, better interior a little bit easier to use cargo area, and great landing lights. I feel like the Connies seem more like a ship that might be flown solo though (especially the Taurus). The extra bedrooms in the Corsair and the big mess hall make it look like something that would always have a crew.

Love the ship. I just would like two mods: 1) extend the undercarriage a bit to lift it further off the ground, 2) make the wings fold again when retracted to lessen height, like the WW2 Corsair wings in r/l. Otherwise this ship is amazing! 😊👍

3) Increase maneuverability by just a teeny tiny bit. It currently handles more sluggish than ships far larger than it. 4) Either make the wings a bit tougher to break off, or have it so that if they do snap off, they don't send your Corsair into an infinite spin with no control, which makes no sense in the first place as the Corsairs' thrusters and engines are mostly on the body/hull of the ship - the wings just house the extra cannons and missiles. Losing a wing, especially in space, shouldn't send the whole ship into an inescapable wash cycle when there's still plenty of thrusters on the hull to counter it. 5) An extra tractor beam top middle above the cargo ramp wouldn't go amiss...

very much agree with the wings needing to not be so tall. they have those rotation points between the hull and the engines, I wish VTOL would rotate the whole section. I also wish they'd move the s5 back a little so they weren't out so far.

my favorite setup as well, I just hope they fixed the issue with vehicles randomly exploding in the back. that new paint tho is so lazy. they completely forgot there's more than 1 side of the ship. only the right side and the ramp are painted the rest is barren, looks like they gave up after an hour of painting.

Great review. A little longer than ten minutes or less, but Drake always deserves the fanfair :) On a note about the captains quarters: traditionally the captain of a ship has their quarters as close to the bridge as possible. This isn't ALWAYS the case, but even on ships that are 100+ years old the captain might even have more than one room dedicated to himself. He may have one by the bridge and also one on the stern so he doesn't have to make a long trek back if he doesn't need to. But in SC does it really matter where the captain sleeps? They are just going to get first dibs on whatever room they want anyway. For me, I'm calling all three rooms mine

The 3.23 patch took away it's flask in the galley and it has some weird issue taking off from a station. But they did fix the doors being stuck open.

I would have loved the Corsair to have a small porthole in each of the crew quarters and a larger one at the end of the common room table. I'm an Origin pilot myself, but my son and the friend we fly with the most both fly Corsairs as their daily drivers and it is a great ship for its price and size.

5:18 I agree so much there. for a explorer that should land non paved or rougher terrain than usual ships the corsair has low clearance. really wish they'd address this problem and interior mess area lightning

Hey Even! You mentioned that it's not amazing at anything but I'd call to one point. The Corsair has THE HIGHEST IN-GAME pilot controlled DPS of any ship.

Great video! The Corsair is my absolute favourite ship, I barely fly anything else! The componts are physicalized by the way, you just have to unlock the ship ports first ... same if you want to swap out any weapons.

This is my favorite explorer and I love its new paint. I do wish it had smaller pilot controlled weapons and larger turret guns. I love multi crewing ships and want them to really have a purpose

THE best ship in the game. First thing to do is swap the missile racks for 16 size 2 Dominator 2s, swap the turrets to laser cannons, swap the pilot guns for AD5B and AD4Bs

You can crank the dps on that bad boy up to 10.6k with ballistics but it’s hard to soft kill. Advantage to ballistics is you can max power your shields. I can’t figure out how the remote turret works though.

ITs a great ship but currently has a very very annoying spawning bug.. Basically it spawns in and there is something else that spawns in that stops you taking off you kind of get stuck on it. Basically store it then spawn it again and it will usually sort the issue.

Shame to say my first hour of playing start citizen (I started last year) was the pilot considering getting another ship after I got stuck in the locker exploring the ship. Then again my first ship experience I star citizen was watching the Corsair having wild desync and bouncing on the pad while the pilot said it was fine on his screen and told me to use the elevator

The corsair is a wonderful ship. So many details and possibilities. almost everything has been thought of. i also think that it will be one of the most popular ships in pyro, next to the hercules series of course, which are true fuel tank wonders with 88,000 q-fuel. The only thing that bothers me about the corsair is the damn low landing gear, the real wings in folded mode and the fact that it has so few missiles, I swapped the four launchers for S2 models and 16 Rattlers. As well as the front weapons for 4x Deadbolt V. Especially against larger ships the overkillers. I can recommend these to everyone, it's worth having them in your "MyHangar or simply buy ingame.

you can still fly with the left wings intact and reach a repair point. But if you loose the right wing it becomes tricky to reach repair point. If both wings are lost its abandon ship.

Avoid using the elevator solo, you can get stuck in it and its not the best. If I could I would add a top side docking collar similar to the conny. but that would be it!

6:40 nah you can lose all the wings and it flies fine, might even go as far as saying it flies better with the wings up/off. the real damage is losing your size 4s and/or missiles. 13:10 Drake ships are not designed for pirates and never were. Founder had said something about selling to known pirates and was forced to retire. Afterwards new CEO, who condemned the cutlass being used by pirates, instituted mandatory annual training for employees covering UEE law. Which was all before anything but the Cutlass was even designed let alone produced.

This is a Drake ship so it's more of an Marauder that Drake markets as an Explorer. It's kind of their thing to make ships that are good for Pirating but claiming it's for some legitimate purpose. So with that in mind this ship is more of an Explorer wink wink if you know what I mean.

A great ship. At the moment one of the best daily drivers and ERT bounty hunter. Althoug I prefer the connstelation taurus the corsair is cheaper, has better quantum capacity, more guns and a private room for every crewmember. Also this ship might be even more usefull in future.

Need to consider where those HP are distributed. The Connie has a lot of parts, and each has its own HP pool. Body HP on the Connie is 20k, Corsair is 15k. That's the part to hit to "kill" the ship. Not that far apart.

In my opinion, the Corsair may be the single most overrated ship in the 'verse. Dont get me wrong, it's in a GREAT spot right now... but there is a reason it is half the ingame price (or less) than all of its competotors. It is great, in an environment that doesnt care about engineering, armor values, pbysicalized hulls, atmospberic flight reworks, exploration gameplay, or the need for true long distance travel. As more and more systems come online for the game, its weakness compared to other like ships will be quite apparent with its papee thin hull, asymetric wings, heavy dependancy on its biggest wing (which is its biggest obvious target) for both flight control, flight power, and armaments. Right now it does fine, but it wont be long until its getting left behind, especially as the much older ships its competing against (Connie and 600 Explorer in particular, but to a lesser extent the MSR as well) get their confirmed reworks which will boost them even further ahead, or even just as their additional systems come online to give them even greater advantages.

CIG is such an odd mix of being amazing and absolutely indefensibly clueless about what they are creating. How is the Corsair the only ship in the game with underside landing lights? How does CIG not get that they aren't building an aircraft simulator? These are spaceships that land vertically. There so many things like this in the game.

the best ship, and leave the weapons stock for now, the laser cannons are the go to for bigger ships, they will shred anything, and if you hit a smaller one, it will wipe them out
