The thing that I love the most about this movie is that the characters all feel very... *real.* Norman as the little brother, Courtney as the older sister, their mom and dad, Neal and his brother Mitch, Alvin the school bully... all of their personalities don't feel faked in the slightest; they all feel natural and the voice actors for them just made them sound even more natural, like these could be characters that you could imagine in real life. Even the whole setting of the school play felt very real to me. Norman's dad even kinda reminded me of my own dad, both in looks and in personality. The whole joke at the end about Mitch being gay was also really funny to me, after Courtney had flirted with him so much, and I like how they didn't do that just to earn some LGBTQ+ points from Twitter, like a lot of the movies coming out more recently do. Lately, with movies that have any characters having a race, gender, or sexual orientation being something different from the norm, it just doesn't feel natural and like they're only doing it just to pander to people that would get offended otherwise, especially if they're changing a character to be like that instead of manually creating a character like that. Take, for example, most of the _Disney_ live-action remakes. The characters in those movies end up not feeling like real people that you could imagine in real life, based on their personalities alone. But the characters in Paranorman here? You CAN. This movie really takes me back to a time when movies weren't about sending social justice messages or appealing to toxic feminists or making things too safe and kid-friendly. It wasn't afraid to portray the characters as very straightforward and typical with what you'd expect a school bully or a teenage sister to be like, and I have a lot of respect for it for that. And it _especially_ wasn't afraid with showing dark and frightening imagery. All of that wrapped neatly into a story with an important lesson of not judging people for being different... just perfect. However, if a movie NOWADAYS wanted to include a lesson of not judging someone for being different, they'd likely make the title character be a gay feminist with all the men in the movie being petty mysoginists. Like, come on. That wouldn't be enjoyable to watch at all. Long story short, _Paranorman_ is a great movie because it has its characters all being very grounded and realistic, and people might be able to relate to one or two of the characters. Characters with realistic personalities make me enjoy a movie even more, and _Paranorman_ has some of the most realistic characters I've seen in a movie to date.

The little girl only tormented the people who MURDERED her so they would understand what they put her through. I don't think that's a fair comparison to bullying someone. Tried it with lego in high school and discovered that I do not have the patience for it. One thing I remember from the behind the scenes of Paranorman is the scene of the towns people fighting against the zombies. That the whole scene is a mirror of typical zombie films. The small group of the undead are the "innocent" people being attacked by a violent hoard of people.

This movie. Another good stop motion animation film with a boy who talks to spirits and seek to help them than exploited them. Norman is a very unusual and yet relatable character who likes scary things while being a nice person. The film does subversion thinking about instead of putting the young witch back to sleep. Norman helps her find peace before heading to the after life. The zombie town folks who not only admit their mistakes and willing to rewrite their wrongs with Norman's help. Paranorman is good film. 24:26 Only thing that almost ruined the film. Alvin felt annoying and acts like a sycophant to gain favor with Norman during the zombies event going on. It's like version of Francis from Fairy Oddparents. Where Francis does bully others because anger issues, Alvin bully for approval seem overly done. Overall, excellent film for Halloween. Wonder if Ros Mo will review the Wendell and Wild movie coming on Netflix? Premiere on 10/28/2022 or Halloween.

I adored this movie as a kid! Pretty sure Mitch is the reason I love himbos so much now, hehe. Something I'd like to say (sorry, haah, I don't get to talk about Paranorman that much).. I actually love how normal Norman is. As somebody who's ND (neurodivergent) I was also picked on a lot for being abnormal. Like any kid would, I started masking, and just trying to act as normal as possible. We don't get to see much of Norman's personality, but that's because he's never been allowed to show it-I mean, seeing ghosts would fuck up your humor and darken your interests, no? I haven't watched it in a while, but I've always felt a big part of Norman's character development and acceptance of himself is starting to remember who he is and showing his personality again. Ofc, this would be post-movie, though. Aggie appreciation club though. Poor girl deserved so much better.
