During the Napoleonic wars, in battles against the French, volunteers moved forward and waited, their arms ready, pausing for a moment in that quiet stillness that hovers before battle. Then a command was given, "The Forlorn Hope will advance," which they did, always did, never looking back. Many died, but they were never defeated. Such times and men are often forgotten now, which is our greatest loss. These are their children.

I served decades ago, in the US Army as a Ranger and Pathfinder. A guy I was stationed with at Ft Rucker was a member of his unit's band, a trumpet player. He desperately wanted to change his MOS to 11B (Infantry) as he felt it was somehow more "worthy". Listening to this, I will never think military musicians could EVER be " less" than combat grunts. Compositions like this are what fuel us grunts, give us hope and strength and keep us driving on. DAMN this is inspirational, every musician involved should he proud.
@Paul-tg4xg10 ай бұрын
I was so hoping for the bagpipes to join in, but in essence maybe that would have been too much. I served in the forces many years ago and been on many parades and there's nothing makes a vet so proud when you are in step with the great musicians in the military.

Amazing, I love my U.S. Marine Corps band, but they would never perform this type of music. I do remember hearing some concerts of the U.S. Air Force Europe band performing Glen Miller and another time they were performing popular hits of the late 50's and early 60's and did a spectacular job of it. Semper Fidelis to all of my Brother and Sister Marines across the pond...
