I only recently found out that Don and Phil were both left-handed. It’s fascinating that they play their guitars right-handed. Their father thought it would make life easier for them to play guitar right-handed.

A lovely lady, and insightful. "Cut their teeth on the microphone." You can hear a couple of those Everly family numbers from the Iowa radio station on the Everly Brothers boxed set. Fascinating stuff. Archie Campbell had been doing "Hee Haw" in color for 14 years. I don't know why this is in B&W.

She told Don he is the reason Ike died. He was so sad that Don stopped being in Everly Brother Band. She didn’t speak to him after Ike died in 1975. She was very religious and disapproved of Don’s lifestyle and felt he led Phil astray too.

@@user-vm3ri7qh5x - Don was given Ritalin as a child, prescribed by the family doctor. I didn't know Ritalin could become addictive but probably all drugs can cause dependence after time. From Ritalin, Don move to amphetamines (as did JFK). Medicine was young and people were naive. The doctor was like God. At some point, Don had a nervous breakdown. I can't imagine the pressure of working from early morning until the sun goes down without ever having a carefree childhood. The Everlys worked and worked and worked because Ike Everly came out of the coal mines of Kentucky, as did Loretta Lynn's family. The poor man's hustle.
