Loved the Everly Brothers music growing up in the 70’s and having attended a Dionne Warwick concert a few years ago I could not get over the fact that Phil Everly was sitting right behind me. He was respectfully introduced that evening and after the concert ended I was honored to have him autograph that evenings program. So sad to say he passed away about a year later and upon hearing of this sad news I lit a candle with the autographed program beside it in his honor.

How unfortunate that today's generation will likely have no idea who Don And Phil Everly were and as to how they influenced so many others in the music industry who became well known in their own right. Just a few who have lauded praises upon the Everly Brothers are Paul McCartney, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, Brian May (of Queen), Carol King, John Denver (when alive), Barry Manilow, Elvis Costello, and Nancy Sinatra. I don't know what happened to music but something did. We may never again see the likes of Don and Phil Everly and this is NOT simply 'nostalgia' speaking. It's a sad fact

Me neither! It come s as no surprise that his timing was impeccable, but I had no idea that he did all the talking, that the entire routine was picking on Phil or that it was THAT funny. Phil says nothing, just calmly waits for the next tune. But then again, wasn’t Phil the one with perfect pitch? Weren’t most of the harmonies his? He didn’t have to say anything. But it sure is great to learn how UC fun their concerts were…

Neither of them sang better than the other. Don was able to harmonize as well as Phil. In fact, when they were younger and Phil hadn't yet figured out how to harmonize, Don allowed Phil to sing the melody and Don did the harmonizing. After Phil finally "got it", he suggested that he sing harmony since he had the higher voice.@@lynkhs

I don’t get the criticism of Don’s humour being cruel to Phil. It’s obviously tongue in cheek and very typical of the way brothers josh each other. Phil was grinning all the way through. Even as a kid growing up in the ‘90s, I still moved more towards liking Don but I never knew he could be such a comedian onstage. 🤣 How in the world he managed to live close to a full decade longer than his brother, is something I’ll never understand. 🤣🤣🤣 If looks could’ve killed then Don surely would’ve been dead long ago - that expression between the two when Don started stirring the pot over the “Don’t Pick on Phil” notes & the story about the lost little baby blue blanket was priceless.

The reason Don lived longer was because he and Phil quit smoking, but after the breakup in '73, Phil took the habit up again and continued smoking for many years. They quit singing around 2004 because Phil just didn't have the breath anymore. He finally quit smoking, but too late. He died of COPD. (And I say this as I sit here with a cigarette in my mouth!!!)

So happy to see Don n Phil sing looking each other with smile. They keep good performances hereafter, but gradually they didn’t show smiling. That’s too regrettable ...
@jessicanix98003 жыл бұрын
Great songs. I like how Don and Phil would look at each other and smile throughout this performance. I don't think Don was being mean to Phil I think it was just an act that both brothers were in on. I truly believe that Don and Phil loved each other dearly like most siblings...even if they didn't fully realize it themselves until it was too late as unfortunately that happens sometimes, and I also don't think they knew how to tell each other they loved one another other then through music. Sure there may have been fights, arguments, disagreements, and lawsuits but that doesn't mean they didn't love each other deep down. It's obvious now that Don truly misses his brother (Phil) as he stated in a 2016 interview that he has some of Phil's ashes at his house and says "good morning" to them which I think is rather sweet of him myself. By the way, yes, I know about the recent copyrights claim lawsuit but I heard that Patti, Jason, and Chris actually started that although I don't know for sure if that's true. P.S. The Everly Brothers were before my time but I still enjoy their music. I also enjoy listening to Buddy Holly although Country is my favorite.

I watch The Everly Brothers' videos over and over again and notice slight variations in every performance but always without a mistake. The slightest, tiniest, pinpoint modulation in tone or rhythm is perfectly synchronized. Perfectly. How did they do that? Imagine at rehearsal, one says, "Let's do it this way this time." And the other one says, "OK, that sounds good." But it isn't that simple because during the performance, both brothers must remember the decision to change it up, where, when. Remember? All those little alterations? Exact timing, exact tune. No, that isn't possible. It must be something else. Don said they read each other's minds while singing. I believe that. It's the only possible explanation for such impeccable mastery. Amazing!

Never really listened to Everly brothers before.. Great concert this one is. Funny interruptions, nearly would think the guy is on weed. Nevertheless great songs and singing. A big like 👍!

I think they adjusted their performance style to fit a cabaret act for Chequers nightclub.
