Daybreak finally respond to the dupe exploit with head of studio Jenn Chan forced to provide information on what happened, but is it all as it seems and are they downplaying?

I started on Oakwynd on January 3 after a 5 year hiatus. I was grinding outside of Crushbone in my Patchwork Leather armor I had spent (probably) too much time grinding on the skeletons and goblins outside of the Dwarf starting zone when someone came up to me and handed me 100k plat and told me "the game is more fun when you have money." I learned about the dupe a few days later. I completely lost interest in the most recently released TLP after I hit level 50.

1. Knowing that 95% of the existing accounts are dormant, means that the 0.44% total impact prolly means at least 20% total impact orso. 2. Knowing that alot of people bought nobles to hide their plat on Oakwynd, and DB didn't take this into account, means that the number of impact on Oakwynd is alot higher then they say. prove of that are the bazaar prices which are at aprox. 1000% right now. Result: They didn't do shit and Oakwynd is ruined economy-wise. For a player like me who doesn't have krono's or alot of plat and didn't exploit the bug, and is not a raider, means the game is over on this server. I payed sub for 7 months for 2 accounts, and now they ruined it for me and looks like there will be no solution. Thanks alot DB, minus 2 subs from me.

I canceled both of my previously-active accounts (and I really did, haha). I have a small handful of Krono on my main raiding account - I will most likely let my box account lapse, and just play my main account. That will limit what I'm able to achieve by myself, as a Paladin main, but at this point I would rather play my main for longer, than play my main and boxes for shorter, before running out of time. But like you, I'm still having a good time raiding and slaying big baddies with the guild, but my "Bazaar game" has diminished significantly and I'm making most of my platinum and krono through Richgirly's casino, lol.

I'm done with Oakwynd. I might come back for the next TLP if it has an interesting ruleset, if not I might never come back. Which is sad since I've always played EQ as my fallback game. New game gets boring, I go back to EQ 😥 I had just over 1m plat on Oakwynd, which I thought was a lot, but now I feel like it's completely worthless. On live that .44% is a massive amount of plat. I haven't added it up across all my characters, but I know my Mage and Ranger have over a billion plat and that doesn't feel like a lot to me.

I'm done with Oakwynd and back playing on my previous server. It does seem that bazaar prices are elevated a bit there too.

I'd be shocked if they weren't. The exploit affected all servers, it's just that Oakwynd was probably hit the hardest.

0.44% is actually a lot considering the exploit was mostly only done on one, new server and the other servers have been around for 25 years.

You can't report exploits to the devs via Discord if you get banned for talking about things like you are talking about :) They have been going pretty hard with censoring/banning people from their communication platforms during this fiasco. It's sad that they need to lie and censor instead of owning the problem and offering some kind of reimbursement to keep players around. Even a little bonus xp as an apology would go a long way to keep players happy.

Exactly we all know they're lying, the only people benefitting are the cheaters and they're letting them, 100% the cheaters are dpg employees making money on the side which is why thye're not being banned.

There is no doubt in my mind at least 1 dev is helping with the cheaters. I would guess the devs feel undervalued and see making some $$ on the by being involved with 3rd party sales, not only right, but a fair way to get compensated.

Yep, more interested in covering things up with lies, censorship and PR speak. Their actions are the only things that matter, not words. They ended up having to exert more energy with all of that stuff than if they had competently dealt with it. Its pathetic how it was all dealt with, and It shows how much they care about the game. Sad situation, the game needs better people in charge who actually care.

Read that post again. It wasn't written to the players (which is why it sounds completely tone deaf to players). That post was written specifically for EG7 bigwigs. That's why the numbers don't make sense for anyone who actually plays the game. They're not meant to make sense to you or me or anyone who actually logs in and plays regularly. The timing was horrific (everyone's away for the holiday) so they had to make up something the suits would buy. The question most relevant at this point is, what's the expansion passthrough going to be and if it matches the last five (minus ToL/CoV for obvious reasons). A lot of people hadn't preordered the expansion and with the questions about launch features being ready and now this, that's where the biggest impact is likely to be felt. It seems to me that they have no idea that a good portion of their playerbase fund their habit with krono. If krono are now unreachable, they may shed a lot of players.

Those statistics mean nothing, you can make stats tell any story you want if you know what you are doing. I'd rather of see the total plat dupped over X number of accounts and how much of that was removed. I feel like that would be more meaningful than diluting your percentages by looking at servers that are bloated with plat. It just makes your clean up look really bad. I had a sub going for a month to play on mischief, but stopped it

All those numbers tell me is that they are absolutely detached from their own game. If she believed those numbers enough to actually post them she has absolutely ZERO idea what is going on. KR are like 600k right now in the middle of Luclin. ETA: my 3 accounts are still active but probably canceling. Haven't logged in since last weekend.

I cancelled both my accounts, not giving them a penny, they're more interested in letting cheaters get away with cheating than supporting actual players, I'm on project quarm right now and it's infinitely better. I'll likely join for the 25th tlp server but those numbers are lies and they're dicks for thinking that people wouild believe the lies.

True, but if they did a full rollback and deleted all the accounts that used the dup over a minor threshold that would go a long way in improving the trust that is left. I have canceled my account, and what sucks is I just game back a bit over 3 months ago and saw that Oakwynd had just started so joined that server. Now it's ruined, I'm not a boxer, I'm not gdp raiding so my only option to be able to purchase anything now that we have 10000% inflation is to purchase Krono, which without the roll back and account deletion just encourages db to let it slide. F db if they don't repair this. I'm done.

Was having fun but even with guildmates and such I cannot get over how disgusting this was handled. But aye, found out about the new WOW server mode on a DP forum post (while trying to find any response to the issue) and swapped my paying accounts to another platform. Was fun while it lasted

I find the response to still be rather weak. Those percentages provided mean nothing divorced from all the context of what numbers they are derived from. I am well aware of how people lie by citing percentages. That people playing on the server are saying that things are wildly out of whack compared to only two weeks ago tells me that citing a few numbers says little to nothing. I also continue to be annoyed at how they handle talking about exploits. If you're counting on security through obscurity then your system/network/game is NOT secure. The reporting path is as you said convoluted and difficult, at odds with how players are going to expect such reports to be made which means there's going to be lots of confusion and for time-sensitive issues slows things down.

I just can't justify continuing. This is a pathetic response. The game is already a 3rd party market overrun, a far cry from anything it ever used to be. I am in a group and the puller comes back, yeah the PLers took everything. I'm just done.

The game is still fun, I play 1 character, I raid, I don't need plat except to buy gate pots and HoT pots which can be made rather easily and cheap to get. If the plat inflation is a problem for you, then you might want to rethink gearing up 10 alts and constantly switching characters or maybe try raiding. If you aren't raiding, the gear doesnt matter and right now that would be the only expensive thing to buy in this game.

Wow! So you think dev fuck ups are fine and since it doesn't impact you then everyone else should rethink how they play so they can have fun! Well, how about this? The devs actually test their fucking game and give us what we paid for . You can fuck right off with the "Rethink how you play!" because the better solution is to rethink paying them a sub.

Yeah, sorry. I quit raiding when they turned it into a schedulable event. You can plan to kill most mobs like you plan your family's next vacation. No sense of urgency. No need for airtight logistics. The target is always there, waiting for you to come kill it. I understand it was to make raids more accessible for casual players but that doesn't change anything for me. So now, I derive fun from challenging encounters tackled with characters I'm getting, at best, 75% effectiveness from. Mind you, I've never funded an account with krono so I actually BENEFIT from this inflation (prices will eventually return to a baseline, assuming another exploit doesn't pop up. When that happens, I'll still have the resources I acquired taking advantage of the inflation. Kinda like selling Bitcoin at $60,000). But I can still say 'this isn't right and should be rectified', even in a position of relative privilege. "Just play one character" is about as much a solution as "just play Overseer".
