Our guild had fun farming in skyfire for the 4 shards needed for 1 cleric. He was pretty stunned at the help. Before that I had fun with him in lake rathe at the early water goblin camp.

Things to note about Shaman epic: It truly doesn't get replaced until like Luclin/PoP, and had one of the best inventory clickies in the game as a side reward half way through the quest - right click instacast SoW, it is fairly easy and the dot doesnt get overwritten by anything else in the shaman/necro dot wheelhouse.

one of the things that makes the Wizard epic so good is that you can use it with the mana robe or stone for endless mana as the damage from the 2 items will eat the rune first before your HP. when it eats all the rune you just use it again and get more mana

Also that rune is equal to a rune 5 from a chanter. So in Velious and prior its really nice as you can basically tank several aoe's from bigger mobs and take no damage. Especially since it stacks with your spell damage only rune you get in the 50's.

"I have been redeemed, and I have redeemed another". That toothpick (Ragebringer) was the most intensive time-sink I've ever spent in an MMO, and was almost immediately outclassed by other lootable gear. But still, you could tell the type of Rogue you were dealing with by whether they had their Ragebringer or not.

One additional note about the Monk epic, and why it's so incredibly important for Monks: It changes the Fist H2H ratio. Normally monk ratio is based off of a 37-38 delay (depending on if you're human or iksar, respectively), but having the Epic equipped actually drops it to 25-26. This isn't a Haste, it actually changes the delay of your Fists as weapons. That means you're essentially getting a 33% Haste that stacks with *EVERYTHING*. It's not uncommon to see a Monk's DPS literally more than double when they equip the epic, and there's nothing in the game up through the end of Luclin that can compare with it. Velious has some good fists in ToV, but you're still not likely to get higher DPS with them. EDIT: I should clarify one point - If you put the Fist of Nature or ToV fists in the primary *that hand* will actually get higher DPS...but it will ruin your offhand, and nothing comes close to the *overall* damage of the Epic until end of Luclin and PoP.

Shaman could also quest a second epic in Kunark. The iksar skull quests rewarded the Sky Iron Cudgel of the Ancients which had a clickable Avatar buff that made every melee love you forever.

Ranger off hand epic will last you till end of PoP even if you switch to archery cause it's a very good stat stick with 40% haste and 30 attack.. not obsolete like you say

Bard epic was quite okay, it really didn't get replaced until late game PoP because the singing mod just didn't exist anywhere else, the proc haste was also quite nice as it stacked.

swiftwind was always a great haste item for Rangers, and earthshaker for WS pulls well into PoP an later expacs. They were great epics.

Just a heads up but the shadownight epic is a lifetap dot. Ive seen SK's use it and solo mobs in CC in p99 without heals using nothing but the epic.

Monk epic makes their bare fists 23/26 at level 60 and 24/26 at level 65. With epic you can use use barefist until xegony fist and shinai/timerweaver. It's the reason monks are really broken on TLPs for quite a while.

Yes, I'd argue monk should be in top 5. Video creator just touched on the clicky effect, but the ratio reduction on barefist makes them so effective for a while. Even after you get Vulak weapons you are best using no offhand because ratio is still better and you don't get damage bonus in OH anyways.

Just remember that if the ratios are pretty similar, speed always wins. A weapon that has the same ratio but is 25% faster, gets 25% more double and triple attacks.

Yup, I fully expected monk at number 2. Outside of Cleric, it's the most game changing epic by a long shot and it sticks with you. Moreover, it's one that you are expected to have if you're going to raid as a monk. Other classes not so much. It was almost a bummer because replacing it even in PoP can be super difficult and it's going to at least consume the hand and secondary slots.

Back in early 00s the ranger epic made them not useless or jokes. They became relevant. AAs did also, if you got the right ones, but the epics were the start of it no longer being a joke of a class, well not as much of one at least. Might not have been the most useful, but it did the most for it's class.

Best epic? monk /thread. lol. or necro 2.0 which is STILL bugged and the 8% dot tick crit increase works all the way to level 100. Monk epic though turns the monk fists into 2.0 ratio damage WITHOUT any haste, or the active. This wont get replaced for damage until late pop or mid omens. I knew many monks with just epic fists until anguish. Bard is good, Mage is dead by level 62 water pet, warrior is boring hah. Cleric is only a minor convivence

IIRC makes fists 9/16 .. i played from 2000 - high end POP and high end GoD .. monk epic was still my gloves even in time gear+ .. the haste stacked and was clicked to be up 100% of the time during combat monk, bard were 100% crucial or character did not function properly at 60

I have many but the Enchanter one seemed the most difficult as you have to go deep in Cabalis to find one mob. I created an Iksaar shaman just to get to know the area and find the guy is a great epic for the time.

except on p99 the slow epic is a million times harder than the haste one so it will be a long time before you have both unless your guild raids hate regularly and you can beat looters rolls

The Enchanter 1.0 becomes useless after you attain the Romar's Pantaloons of Visions. Right click speed of Vallon.

@Tyler Suurkivi At the time, enchanter weren't a pet class. They didn't get Pet Hold until an AA 15 expansions later. Mana free haste was very useful back in the day. New content will always make old content obsolete and outdated.

2 Epic Monk for double proc. It was so powerful on Ragefire server my DPS was untouchable and that let my guild win every DPS races on dragons. At this time it was a thing :)

it's nothing new that epic monks are extremely powerful in kunark and velious. Not nearly as strong as p99, or old live kunark/velious, where they can basically tank like a warrior while putting out massive dps, but they're still very good

My time with an enchanter was launch to luclin an barely anyone requested snake/aug. It was good for those who did zerg raiding and needing to provide haste to a freshly rez player. Overall I sacked this epic quicker than any other class I played.

I spent 2 years questing for my Ragebringer. Now I can't even remember my login from over 20 years ago, but I remember everything else about EQ. One day I said, I'm done. I think that's when I was invited to WoW alpha and the rest was history. I miss the EQ days. Nothing else can replicate the time and interactions made in this game. Mage epic is obsolete 2 expansions later. Same with Enchanter epic. The only epic in your list that uses thier epic forever is Cleric. Rangers use the Earthcaller epic forever too.

I played years on p99, I got the server first SoD on my warrior celatus but ill keep my comments to tlp. Obviously #1 is cleric its not terribly difficult to get and its used for longer than any of the other classes. #2 &3 are pretty much tied. Bard is very useful and used for a very long time as was mentioned. Monk which was not listed has nothing to do with the clicky which is essentially useless if you have a haste buff which is the same V2 song/spell haste are the same other than v3 or over haste songs. What makes the monk epic so good is that it changes your fist ratio which is part of why they are the best dps in the game for several expansions. its 100% the best dps epic in the game and is only replaced in PoP if you get the right weapon drops the last server I played on we had 8 monk mains and got 0 monk weapons so their epics were equipped through GoD atleast. Rogue is probably #4 for me as at least it makes some difference even once you replace it in the main hand you will keep it offhand for the 40atk. #5 and only because the rest of the epics are pretty useless is warrior and only for the Red Blade. Enchanter looks cool, Its super hard to get and if you don't have it which I never would you will not miss the click as you get better haste via spell. During wipe recovery is a clicky haste ok... sure but you're going to be waiting on cleric mana anyway so don't sweat it. Mage epic less than useful, cant use the pet on raids because of threat gen its ok for soloing I guess but since you need to raid to get the epic or buy loot rights or MQ its not worth doing when you can't even use it for a big portion of content. IMHO the rest are not worth doing. Could make arguments for doing ranger offhand for the haste, pally and sk ones are just bad you can get better weapons from VP and much better in Velious. Wizard one has stacking issues. Druid/shaman/necro again cool but your performance with or w/o is going to be nil. If its your thing and you want to do it for whatever reason thats awesome. My point is outside of the top 5 that I listed you are going to see little to any difference between say a wizard with epic vs a wizard with out epic. So for me that's just a waste of time to do it and I have done them all at one point or another over the past 23 years. Beast and zerker are kind of irrelevant because of what you can get when the classes come out. Something to look at if you plan on sticking around is if doing the 1.0 is easier than the 1.5 work around.

Yeah, I remember for some time there on live in between the epics and the AA's you basically weren't considered an "official" cleric until you got the epic, thereby causing an "official cleric" shortage as everyone waited in line to get the epic. I'm kinda surprised they never tried to nerf it, or complete heal, but the clerics would have probably staged a mass strike and brought the whole game to a standstill :p

I live I finally got my Mage Epic 1.0 in Velious. I remember the pet being top 10 damage dealing in Kael Drakkel against all raid targets, to include AoW. Yes, it would out dmg some Monks (only if they didn't have all their awesome gear). On P99 I got my Mage epic and he was top 5 on dmg against Vindi. Funny thing is, most raid leaders and folks didn't like mage pets out on raid targets because of "lack of control". And, rightfully so! However if you were a good mage and controlled your pet, the Epic Pet was a HUGE dmg contributor prior to PoP. I tried to get the focus item in Vex Thal during in the Luclin expansion but it never dropped for me. Supposedly that 1 extra level (49 to 50) made a decent difference with hitting the higher level targets, when parsing them. Mage epic was definitely the most difficult epic to achieve. Yes, i know it's a bold statement but the overall need for a raid and complete dumb luck was needed for several pieces. What the hell would a raid go to Isle 7 of PoA other than fight the Eye of Veeshan or get other quest pieces that were practically irrelevant because Kunark is out and quests in PoA are dumb especially after Velious! Not even going to mention Staff of Elemental Earth!!!!! In my opinion the idiots who thought of this epic and coded it just hated the Mage and wanted ultimate suffering! Anyway, My top 5 prior to PoP: 1. Cleric 2. Warrior (Still completely awesome in Luclin) 3. Enchanter (In Raid buff was amazing for people late or missed) 4. Bard (this is a no brainer how awesome it is) 5. Ranger (Because it is SO EASY to get and changes a ranger from useless to something prior to PoP (when talking about dmg))

PoP changed everything regarding Epic 1.0s. AAs took over, new gear that towered over any epic stats in most regards. The cleric was the only epic in a guild that was deemed 'worth while' to still get in PoP. Almost all that could be done with a group or 2. I can't tell you how many Ragefire's I've helped kill. Last comment: P99s version of the Mage epic has been nerfed big time. The pet takes WAY too much dmg from all NPCs and literally sucks over all when fighting anything over level 35. They've done some coding in the background that was different to cause this (or screwed up the DB stats for the pet). Don't know why but it for sure is weak compared to live. When Daybreak released their TLPs servers, again in Velious I got my Mage epic and it was MUCH more powerful verses mobs than in P99. Maybe it has to do with how powerful the Mage epic is on Red server? Not sure, but what I do know is their server sucks after you finally achieve Mage Epic 1.0.

@@IonBlaze1 My pleasure. I played P99 years ago. Supposedly the epic pet went through several nerfs and changes to the point where they just gave up and left it really weak. On live 20+ years agoish - it was extremely OP. 2 of my buddies (both Mage with Epic 1.0) used to go in to LGuk with a Warrior and Cleric and farm AAs and loots for PP. 3 Epic pets verse any mob would just shred it. Similar to a couple of monks with a shammy...anyway, I'm rambling.

I got it on Live about 2 years ago (so, obviously MUCH easier then due to mercs and stuff), and even then it was quite an achievement. Really felt satisfying to finish it up though. Love the thing!

You will not buff pets with Shissar. Because of AC buff it wont stack with owner buffs, you will use Vision of Grandeur which is longer duration.

Oh yeah! On TLP's, it's considered the worst alongside the mage epic. You can't instance several of the parts like a lot of other epics. Bard epic goes from one of the hardest on P99 to easiest cause of instanced raids. Enchanters & mages didn't get that same luxury in totality.

That actually ended up being the only epic I ever got for one of my own characters. It took a while, but wasn't too bad really. I always really wanted the warrior epic, but had the worst luck with rolls on the scale drops. Used to help organize the weekly open raids on naggy and vox for several months straight and lost every single time. I think my warrior to this day is still parked at the top of that classic raid level range, lol, though I haven't played live in well over a decade now.

Enchanter epic is not v2 haste bud. Only Bard songs are v2 and there are only two of them. Neither is Monk epic for that matter.

You can skip 75% of the epic quest by far the easiest epic ever sk being the hardest followed by paladin followed by warrior than necro

"Snake" click is for tanks/non-dps classes, it costs a ton of mana to cast VoG. Epic click is a huge mana saver for ench. I still try to use VoG on any DPS (when mana allows)

These were a joke. Youd spend 100+ hours getting it, then verant would nerf it, ir you'd get to the last piece and your guild leader would claim it for a twink. Or you wouldnt get anywhere because it required a drop noone could arsed to help you get because there was nothing in it for them. I quit eq because of that lootist mentality and the constant nerfing to "force community together." Bs.

I do not understand why Warrior wasn't top for both. Maybe cleric, but warrior epic 1.0 was god in the old EQ. I mean, once you break into places like NToV you have fights that last more than 15 minutes (BoC was a nice alternative, which many in NToV had; but arguably everyone would have better than 1.0 by then - except maybe monks and bards and maybe rangers if my memory is correct?). Your cleric RoT better be nearly perfect, which doesn't require an epic - except from the warrior. Because the warrior is the only that can make sure s/he is the main focus (with a SK or Paly as secondary - think rampage was a thing in NToV, but it has been a minute). After that, probably the bard weapon. Simply because of replacing so many instruments, it makes it easier to weave songs in a raid setting. Then maybe ench epic, but that was a such a iffy thing. Realistically, the MT and off tank will both have a bard in group so they should be hitting cap. And at least in old eq, enchanters were so rare it was fairly common to run a raid with only 1 or 2 of them. In which case, they wouldn't even buff half the raid. Not sure how the mage epic falls in this, as that was nerfed so early in live EQ that is was about worthless (to begin with these guys would single group PoH, when 50 was the cap - so a nerf was in order quickly - so I can definitely see how they are super powerful without the nerf). For straight dps, and I may be wrong at remember dps at this point - but Celestial fists was probably the largest dps percent increase. Yes a Jade Mace with KD in secondary would to 9/18 for both hands (unless P99 nerfed that bug from original live). Celestial fists would to 9/16 and with the damage bonus, put monks almost on par with rogues. A monk doing close to the dps of a rogue, while having insane dodge and better ac + feign death made for an OP class. At this time, I made one heck of a living off Idol of Thorns, being the only one I knew that could solo it (sad part is, probably destroyed 200 - probably a lot more - Locket of Escapes...). *Also, and not my first time commenting this. Luclin, is pronounced Loose-lin. I get the manual pronounced it differently, but listen to the creators of EQ and they pronounce it Loose-lin. So I will go off how they pronounce it. Also, pretty sure Tunare is Tune-are-ee. As have heard staff pronounce it as such. Never heard them pronounce it otherwise. And since Tunare was brought into this, mentioning epics after PoG/Tunare is almost pointless. Probably why we eventually got 1.5 and 2.0. If I remember right, for me as a monk Tunare's H2H weapon shattered anything monks had previously. BoC from AoW was great for warriors, but didn't shatter their epic - Tunare shattered everything for nearly every class. And oddly, NToV, Sleepers, and Necro only slightly went above that. It was Tunare that was the real changing point for a guild as a hole. For that reason I tend to look at epics in that light, cleric epic being the only that had lasting power. Think their AA rez was 99 but with a large cool down, so the epic 1.0 had merit. Outside of that, the only epic that really mattered for end game characters was monks - as the song was still helpful for getting max haste - and often bard haste was a downgrade as it overwrote it but didn't have the attack bonus nor the ac. Warriors epic, was what made it possible for a guild to move to the next level - and they never would without. Monk and bard weapons, had merit after end game Velious. Rangers, also had merit if there was no slower around (but god, a group without and ench back then sucked - mez being very important - also understand that Druzzil Ro was very weird in that we relied on monks to pull and didn't trust bard mez. Yeah, that was actually a thing, monks were end game pullers even in Vex Thal.). I would accredit that to Llain, and myself. Llain being in the number one guild, and me in the 3rd. Amnesia may have also done something, but she also cheated with 3rd party software and eventually was caught and banned - she had something that allowed her to warp around zones. Truthfully, by the end of PoP even I was using the mob spawn tracking software (which I forget the name - but made rangers about as useful as Clenex when you have the S'ts) and definitely used EQbox to be boxing 5 chars by this point. Shrug, I guess I trust staff to pronounce things correctly over people who edit what the staff says?

I spent months and months working on my Paladin Epic. By the time I got it, I had better weapons. But I cherished it because I worked so hard to get it. 155 DD with a slight stun was not worth the effort. I was expecting it to be dead last on this list.

Enchanter epic is total trash. It's not even the best haste item in the game and it's not a group buff. It's crap.
