i cannot believe this game is still active WOW! i remeber playing this when it first came out. I'm really supprised, i would have thought 100% of the players would have went to EQ2 and WoW

I just started after EQOA was shut down. I tried hundreds of MMO's and nothing beats EQ in terms of gameplay, character progression, community and content! EQ for life!

@Kusselaban This is what the game actually looks like. Everquest's last major graphics update came in December of 2001 one with the expansion "Shadows of Luclin." The game has not changed much since then, and the engine remains the same overall. People thinking about trying this game out fail to realize how brutally punishing it is compared to normal MMOs of today. Just know that the original devs for WoW were prominent players of EQ, and they intended to make WoW like EQ, but better.

Heh. Looks like some old world zones have been reused - GFay (Kelethin), Felwithe burnt down/broken, some Everforst Peaks, Erudin..maybe even Plane of Fear...interesting.

@polarkrackin Cheers, thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. sadly when i posted I was on look for a new game to try out and i wanted to hear about the graphic first before trying games. ( Done that with most of the games I've tried) But i just recently went back to wow for a month to check out all new stuff. But I'll try EQ out when my month is gone. Since i aint planning to pay for wow more then a month. New MMO's are always nice to try ;)

I enjoyed playing this game most!!!! quit around 04 never got back to play it but never found any other game bette than this even and WoW come 2nd.

@bukeymof Blizzard said they were addicted to Everquest, and decided to make their own game. They met over everquest. No everquest = no wow I don't really care for wow, but that's my opinion.

@Jayjon81 Screw graphics, if you want graphics stop playing MMOs.The game play in EQ is 100 times better then WOW. I have been playing WOW since day 1. I also started playing EQ at day 1, and I still enjoy EQ far more then WOW. Don't go to EQ2 it sucks compared to EQ. Matter of fact WOW is better then EQ2.

@ReFleXFnatic WoW is EQ on crack! it's like a action packed mmorpg, the only thing EQ has over WoW is community, which is big, but if that's your deciding factor than you should look at EQ2. EQ1 is about 11 or 12 years old, if your looking to move away from it, just about any MMO will be better. But if u love it i would go for EQ2, it has better graphics than WoW and has a mature community.
