Multiboxing isn't "required" but it helps for sure. As a guide is normally for new or returning players, odds are they aren't going to be boxing just yet. They haven't even decided if they like the game so why would they have multiple toons?

you are correct! On Live servers for many people (me included) the prospect of multi-boxing was quite daunting and i wasnt sure i was up for that. If you are going to test your abilities at multi-boxing than great but if thats something that does not appeal to you, i can tell you it'll be next to impossible to solo your way all the way up to 120 by yourself. Not impossible but very hard, even as a necro its not easy past lvl70-75. As any other class past 60 the Mercs falls off quite hard as PoP expansion and onwards have almost all monster have ALOT more hp/ac and the mercs start to struggle alot at that point. My suggestion if you are thinking of going solo only without boxing, try your luck on progression servers or even Project1999 Green or Blue. Grouping there is MUCH easier at low levels, you'll most likely find a guild that'll accept newbies as well and your overall game experience will be enhanced by alot. On Live servers the vast majority of the population are lvl100+ already and most of the low levels you see are Alts of those players. You'll have a very hard time to group at low level which will make your experince of the game quite frustrating (talking from personnal experience here as i learned that the hard way).

I've been leveling a bunch of characters up to 50ish and I can do it in a day or two solo without bothering with hot zones yet. 1-10 tutorial, at 10 go to Crescent reach and get a AE caster mercenary. Do 10-16 in the Bear cave (pull 4 at a time) and then go up north to the bridge and do 16-25 there (skellies and zombies). Then go to Blightfire Moors and get the Summon the Spirits quest (25) and do the first part to fetch the barks and turn them in. Then the quest will spawn skeletons - Kill them until 35 and at 35 go towards the north west tower and you can pull groups of 4 mobs fast with the AE caster merc up to level 45. Then go to Dulak's Harbor till 50 or if you have people with you, Grieg's End is also good till 65....and then try a new character lol

Sure, but are you f2p? That makes a huge difference. The member merc is way more powerful, and I dont know where f2p could get an AoE caster merc, gotta look into that tho.

I would play a Warrior, Cleric, Druid and then hire three DPS mercs. Druids make awesome pullers in any zone where harmony can be used plus you have sow, snare, ports and backup healer covered. It would suck later on not having slow though. But this would be easy on the platinum farming since you only need to focus on two people for spells and one person for AC gear. I know this is an older video but it's really making me want to leave P99 and come back to regular EQ for something different.

You might enjoy the new TLP in Mayish, They are classic and work through all the expansions great for learning along the way. I love live. I'd recommend Tank/Healer/CC. I only slow named for the most part, unless soloing. There is a lot to the game some of the later expansions are miles better than Kunark/Velious

I really want to play EQ again, but boxing just turns me off. Maybe what they should do is give you 4 AIs to level with up to a certain level where more players are abundant. IDK. Or maybe scale down enemy HPs and stuff based on how many players are in your group. Again at lower levels. Anything to not have to box.

If you join a guild you shouldn’t have problems with grouping. Live or TLP. I box because I don’t like waiting for people and want to get right into action. A lot of classes can solo to 110 no problem. And after 110 most experience comes from quests which are soloable by a lot of classes.

WAR / DRU / BST / BRD / MAG / HlrMerc is one of my favorite box groups. I keep some quick heals up on druid for spot heals if merc isn't healing smart, and and i love how mag/bst dps everything down easily. Bard supplies buffs and mana regen to everyone in the group and lull pulls tough camps. I just use alt tabs, not ISBoxer so I like to have a healer merc to take care of 90% of the healer, that way i don't have to constantly swap back and forth for heals. But yeah teleport to bind makes moving a group super easy.

You can actually stay in Blightfire till low 40s on the skeletons in the north west or the higher level rats in the north. I just did it on my new Necro and stayed at the skeleton camp till 41 or 42.

Started playing again last weekend. It almost feels like cheating leveling so fast, after living through the days of running an SK with hybrid and racial xp penalties in the Velious days. By my older characters are old enough to vote now, so that's something... I am tempted to try the boxing route. what kind of computer do you need to run 3 or 6 toons at a time?

id say an i5/ryzen 5 could do 3-5 easy. I wouldn't recommend more than 3 it gets pretty tedious after that.

Does this work without a full group? like if I wanted to run with 3-4 instead of a full 6 box team would it be viable?

Yes 1 + merc to 6 any combination. The Nomeregard/Towani series do it solo, the Sons of thule series does it with a trio.

I follow mostly the same path so far, I just stick to Hot Zones and grind in them till I am ready for the next one. I am curious to see your path to 85 plus.

My first group I did HA from 75 to 100. I deeply regret doing that, it was so damn boring. I wish I had done zone progression. My 75+ guides will reflect that once I run a group through it with realistic gear for the level range. My Shadowknight just one shots everything under 85 for the most part. Hard to gauge if a group of level 85 group do X, almost there though.

@@hammackj I am doing an 81 warrior, 80 shaman, and 85 druid. 2 healers and a tank, for mercs. not doing any fancy stuff, like mq2 or anything else, just alt tabbing.

On a Live server about 4-5 6-8 hrs days on a Solo Class character with no Multi Boxing or mercs. The 1st 50 lvls you can make your gear or buy a Krono and Buy Tweak Gear level even faster about 3 days 6-8 hrs a day . A Melee and hybrid you will need tweak gear to solo when you hit 30+ level. Warriors , Pallys and SKs use Player made potions made by Shaman. For utility spells like SoW , Lev, Shrink , Invis vs Undead etc.... and Spikes (Damage Shield ) as a Melee or Hybrid Buy a weapon that procs SLo Shams are NOT over Rated at Higher level . The Good slo and heal you don't get till lvl35-40 . LOY xpac you can Use Stoism 44? (Quested through LOY or I think you buy it now in POK) to Cana or heal over Time . It snares you though , not a big deal . Remember the EQ Trinity War , Cleric and Chanter

You can self found gear till 90+ easy, no need to spend a single dime on gear. I find SHM + Healer merc really rounds out the 70 - 85 healing issue that a healing merc has. The Snare/Slow from Stocism and the snare from Torpor are way to annoying for me to use. They just don't heal enough to waste the time casting on live vs a direct heal. Considering Clerics get the same spells without the negative in most cases. I'll make sure to do WAR / CLR / ENC in my next series I haven't done that in a while.

Do you think the UI changes that are coming to EQ will make MQ2 no longer viable? I am getting older, so managing multiple characters is not something I can do well anymore.

I used to go upstairs in CR and kill the undead easily with a Journeyman Merc. You can make a ton of gold or used to anyway, it's been well over a decade for me.

I’d say short term all 3rd party stuff would be broken just like the 64 bit changes. Long term I am sure that team will fix issues.

He is near the zone to guild lobby in POK in a yellow robe. It will depend on what expansion you have active on your server. The server will need at least serpent's spine unlocked. Nice combo. I love the nec/mag/bard. How does the warrior merc handle for you? I had to use earth pet because the tank merc couldn’t handle it.

@@hammackj I've gotten really really good at chain pulling singles, group content is easy enough. The Warrior merc isn't great by any means, but it does ok. Anytime I have difficult named, I drop the dps merc for a second cleric, and just use all of my burn AAs on all 3 tools. Even if the merc Warrior dies, the pets last long enough to clean it up.

If this is your first time I recommend doing it all. If not you can skip. Once your finish the tutorial the quest in crescents reach will keep you on a good path. It’s called the hero’s journey in the achievement menu.

I find the zone really over leveled for its placement in the Hot zone listing. It was probably the hardest one I have done.

@@hammackj the issue is the procs (you need resists up high) they can deliver very high spikes in very short time, the dps itself from hits are not bad, but the procs hit hard and when you get 3-4 of those in a single round then it hurts. GoD was when they started those procs on a lot of mobs and since OoW is the same theme then it carried over too... even though the GoD "beginner zones" had very nice chase loot (FT items "mana regen" for newbies" us oldies still call it Flowing Thought") but the random armor that drops everywhere these days are way better than that in most cases, but back then it was the shiz to get a FT2 neck and such and it was worth the high dps from mobs. FT items was rare back then for groupers even though PoP added a few easy to get ones for most classes.

The only thing I find Shamans to be missing is a DS. That's the only spot where druids are better. But shaman buffs are better, hands down. Plus canni so you aren't waiting for mana? Druids = DS and ports Shaman = Better buffs and better mana conservation.

Do the lady shae red wine quest in west Freeport. Just keep giving her thousand of bottles of red wine, u can get from1 to 35 in 15 minutes for 15k plat. Easy peasy

@@hammackj you will need to have good faction with west Freeport, what I do is go to west freeport with 8 empty back packs fill all of them up with red wine, about 70k or 80k bottles of red wine , walk a few steps over and hand 4k bottles of red wine to lady shae until they r all gone from your inventory . You will instantly gain tons of xp. MAKE SURE U R NOT IN A GROUP AND U DONT HAVE A MERC UP bc they will steal xp . Rinse and repeat. You can do this quest all the way to 115 if u have the plat and patience

They sent me to a marketplace where I had 500$ of Daybreak bucks or whatever they are called, but I could not find the bag of platinum for sale. There were all kinds of other stuff, like cosmetic perks a bag with a mount, etc.

This guide is for multiboxing basically paying for 3 accounts. How about a guide for single players ? Im not educated on software for multiboxing or how to run 3 accounts on one computer however i do have a 3090 GTX video card. Maybe make a video on how to set that up ?

You left out BST as healing. They heal better than a ranger with chloro/spirtual light and standard heals.

Depends on the server, but keep in mind you can easily do Free to play accounts until 70/75 without much issue. If I could only sub one account it would be the tank though. Tanks carry groups, followed by healers. 1 Main + 2 Box + 3 Merc would be fairly easy and if the 2 F2P are something like MAG/WIZ dont even have to gold them and get decent experience.

at 40 on live, I would say defiant is your best bet till 75~ then do the seeds of destruction achievements for paragon armor. Check my Sons of Thule/Towani Series for a walk through on how to do that. I do it solo on a monk and trio with sk/shm/brd.

Cruel game... Tried to do the Scarlet Desert (HOT) at 45 without a guild, Fungus Grove has level 60 mobs and got killed trying to get to the HOT zone. Not even sure if I can get my body, damn it. There is no running from the level 60 mushrooms, they root and stun lock you.

You can summon your in guild lobby for a res. You should be able invis through FG with invis pots.
