Thank you *so* much for this video! Returning to the game after many years away, I found this system baffling. While I definitely appreciate its functionality, from a game development standpoint you want to minimize points of frustration for your players-too many of them, and they just quit. I’m really surprised they haven’t redesigned this by now to be at least a little more intuitive.

Awesome video, this was the best explanation I've seen on this loot system from a grouping or boxing viewpoint. The few others that were somewhat useful were from a solo perspective. Thank you for this. Big tip I needed was the leave on corpse as master looter. I'd figured out some of the basics before now, somehow didn't notice that drop down option. When boxing, just end up with loot window full of unwanted items and I was right clicking 'leave on corpse' individually while trying to do everything else. Big help, great tutorial all the way through!

Thank you Nerdist for the video, it is very helpful :) The only condition that can still be confusing for people is the fact that if you are in a group who is rushing through npc's at a crazy rate, they won't have the time to think about what to click because the "puller" is more than likely a high level person seeking exp, and a lower level person is trying to do as much dps to each target while juggling the loot that is piling up. I dont think there is a easy scenario at this point, you just have to communicate with the person in charge to let them know you don't know what to do. But again thank you for your video!!

Good point! Sometimes the master looter doesn't select "Ask/Roll" or anything so nobody can get it. When I was in groups like that I would ask the Master looter to set everything to "auto ask/roll", but sometimes they ignore that too. So yeah, sometimes you get groups like that.

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with the word "only", here. It's mind boggling how the developers think stopping after every fight to program in a bunch of settings is an improvement.

obviously the advanced looting system is superior to the old system, however, when I 2 box characters I don't like dealing with the complexities of the advanced system, so I turn off the advanced and just do it the old fashioned way which allows which ever character I want to immediately take the loot. I like it much more that way. less clicking involved.

Actually Need is also a roll. It just takes precedence over greed. If 3 people set need on same item they will roll among themselves.
