Just some thoughts on TLP / Live Group Compositions for an upcoming series. Thoughts? Did I miss something? What 6 box team would you like to see me try out?

For the TLP part if you are not going to raid tank then no need at all for warrior SK is your best tank for group content. As for dps makeup a good one is SK, Druid ( for travel for the first 3 or 4 xpacs) CLR , Chanter Monk And Mage.

Group 6 imo. played that trio of ENC + DRU + TANK (pally in our case) and it was so much fun. the real power is double charm with Druid. There are classic levelling routes with beasts to charm from 20-50 in best zems Guk, SolB, and then Chardok. Tank can peel charm pets, Mages can Mala + easy dps. Cleric can allow your druid to do more support/not go oom. The weak point of this group is pulling, which is likely the warrior. We went pally because we were only a trio, but in a 6 box yea Warrior is probably better. Best DPS + Tanking potential in the long run. At least on Mischief there is a reason to do group content / low raid bosses with MOTM so warrior discs are nice to have.

Yeah Group 6 with any tank seems like it would be fairly strong on TLP. Very interesting insight into the discs.

Also not sure you know this but Cazic deity shamans get a simple quest for a unlimited clickie snare neckless and you can get it in classic on TLP's quest starts in neriak. Also iirc it's useable from level 5 or so.

Start with a Shaman. A good Shaman can Dps nuke, Buff, Debuff, CC and tank in a jam. Monk pure Dps and pulling, Cleric, Mage, Rogue, SK. You can sub Zerker for Rogue and BL for Mage depending on taste.

@@hammackj Cool. Just like in life, in EQ some things hold true. There are certain groups, race/class combos that work better. Troll Shaman, Dwarf Cleric, Iksar Monk, Iksar Necro You guys know the others without me naming them. They work now because they worked when the game was incredibly hard on live servers.

I have multi box 23 accounts with no macros and no third party software. I could tell you that keeping things really simple is your best plan. If you think that you have full access to all of the abilities of a shadow Knight and the Mage and yada yada, you're wrong! At least until you start using macros. But the presumption that you have all the Tactical options of a class is a common mistake. Such as emergency stuns. Warrior cleric shaman is a great three box. If you think adding a paladin and going to an undead Zone will be able to increase your DPS, you're wrong probably because you won't as likely stick with it. Whereas the warrior reduces the overall workload and has better General DPS so that your little gang just survives and grinds and grinds and grinds winning the race like the tortoise against the hair

Group 6 is definitely your strongest for tlp 6 box. Having a Druid or a Bard for travel and versatility is a must until PoP. Also Mages cannot heal their own pets until Kunark

@@hammackj Some of these may be impossible, no fun, or boring monoClass could be limited to thematic race of mobs, (undead, living, beast, humanoid, elemental, caster mobs only, melee mobs only, etc) for the 6 clerics - undead only mobs monoRace could be a race theme of the mobs (vahsir - cats only, frogloc - aquatics only, iskar, iskar enemy models only or scaled enemies only), the size of the mobs in relation to the chosen race, location limitations related to chosen race (hot zones, cold, forested, light, dark, open to sky, closed to sky [caves/dungeons only], etc), faction or similar related to the old evil/good system Generic challenges - crafted gear only, no gear at all, tanks only, healers only, dps only, melee only, ranged only, pet classes only, caster only Theres prob others you could come up with your knowledge of the game being greater then mine.

Can you suggest a good duo combo? I am currently just trying out a 115necro/116mage and so far its decent. Would you suggest something different or is the above combo a good start. Will want to do some of the quests/named mobs. Keep up the vids, truly love them all !!

I am going to assume you are using mercs. NEC + MAG is a great combo, if the mage pet tanks you should be able to kill named fairly easy as the necro can kill most things pretty fast. I would bring 1 healer / 1 caster dps or the tank merc depending on how the mage pet tanks for you. Depending on which of those two NEC and MAG you like more you can swap the other for a BRD and go turbo mode. NEC + BRD is really strong which all the BRD chants and stuff they can do fairly decent damage and regen health/mana. In the case of the MAG they can solo pull for the duo. I'd take healer + caster dps mercs. Now if you want a different combo, I would suggest the great duo of SK + SHM + HEALER + MELEE DPS mercs. Those 2 can probably take everything in the game. Another duo, if you like to charm is ENC + CLR/DRU + healer/caster mercs. I would lean more DRU than CLR on live and CLR on TLP. I feel your NEC + MAG is going to be pretty strong, if you get higher EM earrings for them they get even better. Hardest part about named for me personally is keeping the pet alive because the NEC pet blows at my EM. With a Earth pet tanking the named should be almost easy mode. I am going to have to try duoing my NEC and MAG out to see how well it goes but my NEC can solo most named in TOV/COV/TOL currently so the mage would make it easy mode. Let me know if you need more ideas =)

Until GoD play with the enchanter charming and doing most dps. Sk for fast agro, snare and decent dps Cleric for heal and stun on charm breaks Shaman for slow, it makes charming safer with cleric and ench dealing on a hasted mob to recharm. Also huge help on bosses while SK will tank. Wiz for tp evac and dps, also easy to play on boxing. Monk for dps, easy to place with sk taunting. Easy to gear for tlp. pulls 3 dps class 2 healers, rezz, slow, best buffs 1 tank, decent dps, snare, huge agro making boxing easier, FD for pulling. The monk could be replaced by a rng or a bestlord. I prefer monk for the dps and easier pulls, easier to lvl up and to gear.

Tlp is mandatory enchanter due to the mez limitations of bard before pop. Also need Rogue or bard (lockpick) for Kunark My live team is Sk,Clr,Sham,BRD,Rogue,Ranger (Very very strong comp) Tlp caster (pre luclin) Sk,Clr, Chant,Bard,Mage,Mage < able to do first boss of sky with this grp.Also some hate minis . Replace bard with Beastlord in Luclin. Tlp melee (pre POP) Sk,Clr,Sham,Chanter,Rogue,Monk. Replace Chanter with bard in POP. Many different combos to go with. This is just my goto. =)Mq2 makes melee grps doable.

How can I box on TLP servers? I have a 3-box on Live, using no software, just alt+tab between all 3 characters. Wanted to do the same on TLP.

Most servers are truebox and require separate machines. Rizlona, is the only one I am aware of atm that is boxer enabled. I am speculating they will add a new boxer friendly tlp this spring.

@@hammackj Thanks, man. This would be amazing. Last year they launched two new TLP servers, but both of them True Box. Hopefully this year a box enabled server. Would be awesome.
