Enjoy my first time watching Misery! I'm excited to watch this movie for the first time and share my Misery reaction with everyone. Misery has quite an unforgettable main character, played by Kathy Bates, and I'm thankful to not be a writer because of her! This reaction video will show my experience with Misery and my reaction to the movie as I watch it for the first time. Included is my movie commentary, and movie review at the end! Normally, older phones, especially rotary telephones, are full of innards, and the bottom has a plate covering everything up. They’re not hollow, and empty like the one Paul picks up, so it’s “obviously” just for decoration...

No problem. You’re in for quite a treat! The late 70s-80s-early 90s were a renaissance of sorts, especially for practical/ in camera special effects, and original plots and characters. Culminating at the year 1999, that was the year most film makers wanted to go balls out to end the century. You’re gonna be surprised at how much you love them and how impressive it all is, without use of computer, just FX and Stunt people...

Oh wow, I started watching your reacton videos not too long ago... since you mentioned your injury and your resulting "sensitivity" to scenes like this a couple of times, I kept wondering if you've ever seen this movie 😅. Apparently you haven't so we "got lucky" with this vid. Don't get me wrong.. but we are here for the reactions after all 😁.. the whole range of them. If this movie was recommended for you (or voted on)... they knew what they're doing 😏. Kathy Bates "apologized for the leg" in her acceptance speech at the Oscars :)

Yeahh, I had like a slight idea that the scene existed. But I had absolutely ZERO clue it was that brutal. Like they showed it and all. And then of course just the various thumping around on his legs. Like...nah 😂 I actually picked this one out myself. So I only have myself to blame 😅 Thank you for watching :D

Omg. You can't tell what's wrong with the phone... am I so old that it's that different? Lol. Those old phones are machines with wires, parts, and they use electricity. When he heard no dial tone, he looked and that phone was just a shell. No insides. Just a prop. That's why he called her crazy.

James Caan(RIP) was most famous for films like Brian's Song, The Godfather, Rollerball, and Christmas classic ELF. Kathy Bates was great in Fried Green Tomatoes, American Horror Story series ,and Are You There God It's Me Margaret. Lauren Bacall as the agent has a nice cameo as she is a legendary Hollywood Star who appeared in films with Humphrey Bogart. Richard Farnsworth is great in the Tom Cruise film The Firm and his lead in the film The Straight Story. In the book Misery, Annie does much WORSE by actually amputating his leg and cutting off a finger! The director Rob Reiner(Stand By Me) has a bit role in the helicopter scene.

The book goes into more about Annie's backstory, Carl Wilkes was her father, she killed a bunch of residents at the nursing home because she felt pity for them and thought they would be happier if she sent them to heaven, and no-one suspected anything because they were all infirm.

My leg was broken in 3 places when i was trampled by a horse. Apart from the pain, i remember the sound it made when the hoof pressed down most. It was exactly the same as the hobbling scene. So I'm right there with you when it comes to watching and hearing leg injuries.

Regarding the paper, if it had been me, I would have played dumb, typed something and then acted surprised that it smudged. As for the hobbling scene, in the book, she only did one foot. She did however use an ax.

Use your context clues: there's no phone in that phone. Also, most typing paper will smudge before it's dry. He was just using the paper smudging as an excuse to get her out of the house. These two were really a dynamic duo. P.S. What happened to the last scene? Did you mean to leave it out?

The telephone back in the old days had wires and stuff and the telephone there was hollow. Just the frame. That's why it didn't or couldn't work.

IMO this is the best adaptation from novel to film of a Stephen King film, they changed the ending slightly, but this movie is a work of art.

All the internal parts of the phone were gone, it was just the shell of a phone. It was a non functioning phone.

The phone should have it's interior electronic body, but when he lifts the phone, he's only lifting it's empty casing (like a car body without it's engine interior). Really nice reaction review and my first time catching your channel! Hope you will do more and more! Subscribing.

The book was so good... And so SO MUCH WORSE. They explain in the book that this final misery book was actually the best thing he ever wrote. Because he was literally writing for his life.

I believe it's a scene I cut out because I said literally nothing in it. It's a flashback where he's talking to his book lady (I forgot her name), and he's saying how he's tired of writing about her etc., and I'm pretty sure in that scene mentions that's the route he went with the book.
