Me too. I don’t have a problem giving an opposing player a compliment if they have deserved it, and he did. It doesn’t mean that you’re not a true fan, just because you don’t behave like an arsehole towards your rivals. A bit of friendly piss taking is all part and parcel but out and out hatred is ugly.

@@oleggorky906 Well said. There are players that get total respect from all fans-even from their bitterest rivals-players like Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore and Pat Jennings is as revered by Spurs fans as he is by Arsenal's. Modern example Jermaine Defoe for everything he did for Bradly. Never bought into the compulsory hatred myself;it goes too far. Real people died in Munich 1958 and Hillsborough 1989. Cant disrespect any of them or how much it affected their loved ones just to try and be a "true" supporter.

Hi Luke, it’s a great story, one of my best mates scores against Tommy when he played for Derby County, Ricky Marlow. The old boys that played tend to still have a great love for the game, Ricky is ages with me 71, and still plays, he’s fit as a fiddle, and he’s a wonderful bloke. I kept playing until I was 63, I wud still be playing but all the young boys that we played alongside in 5’s & 7 a side aren’t interested anymore. I was a goalkeeper. The Old Days, a Golden Age.
