@@tinotica On March 1999 atm. Some things I liked: Foley, Rock, Austin, hardcore division etc. Other things I didn't: The Corporation vs Ministry storyline (heel vs heel with no one to root for. Bossman v Taker was a shit feud), Sable etc. Russo has made valuable contributions to the Attitude Era but some things are a bit too wacky.

But I am not skipping king of the ring ppv. Foley falling of that cage is probably the best paperview for me and I have to see it. Don't forget Road Dogg was feuding over the Hardcore championship with Al Snow and Hardcore Holly while Billy Gunn was feuding over the IC and Ryan Shamrock against Goldust, Val Venis and Ken Shamrock but a couple weeks before mania in a shocking swerve the new age outlaws won the wrong championships leading to two pointless matches.

Watching the entirety of the attitude era now and 1999 is KILLING me. The higher power, all of the evening gown matches. Jerry Lawler being Jerry Lawler screaming about breasts every week and the ppvs being lackluster is making this a slog to get through. Can't wait for things to pick up going into 2000 and X-Seven

@@GorditoCrunch343 Honestly, I'll take that over the Reality and 'New' Era BS. I was born in 2005, didn't care about WWE till around 2016, and only started to realise how the thing worked in 2020. That said, I'm not really a fan of the jumping jack and high-flying indie style of Styles and Nakamura (and super angry when they're called better than HBK, and when they say Styles is the Face That Runs The Place when Cena was the one to carry the company in a rocky phase and with a weird TV rating (PG)). Austin, HHH, Taker and Rock weren't Mr. Technical, but had personality and ability to please the crowd. HBK and Kurt were technical geniuses but backed it up with great promos and personality. I don't remember one even okay promo Styles or Nakamura cut.

Whatever Russo's faults were, he at least made an effort to find someting for everyone on the card to do, so that the fans could get into them. It didn't always work (remember Beaver Cleavage?), but when it did, it was magic that allowed the wrestlers to sail for years if not decades on the gimmick (Roaddogg, Godfather). Although disappointing frmo an in-ring perspective, 1999 was a decent enough year overall, with the company being able to ride the major storylines (Austin v. McMahon, the Ministry & Corporation stables, and the rise of Corporate HHH and breakup of DX). However, Russo's departure marked the beginning of the true golden era, with the arrival of the Dudleys and Jericho, the elevation HHH to permanent main event status, (including his marriage to Stephanie), and the Edge & Christian v. Hardys ladder match that remade the business yet again.

@@SteRDLK 1990 to 2010 I would say. Taker won the WHC and defended it until Michaels cost him the title at EC 2010. He also had 3 WHC matches with Kane, and he was literally buried by The Nexus with Kane. So, yeah 20 years. 2011 to 2020, mostly WrestleMania matches.

She was more over than most of the men on the roster, which is saying a lot during the attitude era. She's the only woman they ever could've given the belt to without the fan base rioting. They definitely could've built her up until she was a credible threat to the champion. It's still crazy looking back at how over she was, I was a huge fan.

While it is true that they certainly were a huge component of the gimmick & were very much over on their own, at his peak popularity Godfather couldn't even cut his verbiage on the mic without the crowd interrupting him to finish off his sentences for him. He was incredibly over for his placement on the roster.

99 was an absolute train wreck as far as ppv. Even rewatching it, the weekly eps weren’t quite as fun…but I’m also not a middle schooler now😂😂😂. God that Rumble match was the worst rumble of all time. Literally nobody gave a fuck about anything in that match except austin and Vince. Everyone else was an afterthought. Nobody got anything out of that match. You got 30 entrants and nobody left better for it
