Thank God Deacon Jones Had Someone to go back and record his Sack Totals. This at the least needs to be done for Others who at least "Dominated" in there Era. It's slowly happening and it's good for the game and the players who are still alive and the families. 💪

@steve reber they do. Reason they are in the Hall of Fame. They have gold jackets but defense in every Era changes with rules. Can't say anyone would be better in any era but the what they played in.
@stevereber2 жыл бұрын
@@eddie992020 i think we are on the same page. My view is you judge a player for how he dominated in the particular era he played in. Example "if" Hypothetically from 1950-59 10 sacks was the highest total of any yr of the 10 yr stretch and Joe blow led the League 8 of 10 YRS averaging 8 sacks a year , he's Hof WORTHY Cuzz he Dominated his position for a certain number of years. So I don't make stats the deciding factor. As is my argument for Wide Receivers of the 60's -70's who should be in the Hof. But stats do have there place. And sacks were a great indicator of a players dominance on the line. The rest is a little harder to tell with Cb and safeties. Anyways it's all good. There's a definite need to address the issue of recognizing the old Skool Players who have been over looked. Despite rule changes or something. That is just evident. I address that issue elsewhere. Be Blessed thnx for the reply. To add to the discussion is the fact that Where are the Field Goal Kickers? Gary Anderson Punters Etc, Line Men. Joe Jacoby. Special Teams Steve Tasker. To me under the definition of a player that dominated his era for say 5-6 yrs at least at any position on the field should be recognized in a Hall of Fame. Let players run it I guarantee it would "Balance itself out Fairly" I think it's a Worthy Cause..My Opinion

Reggie White is the real sack king...at least in terms of the era in which the stat was recorded. 21 sacks in 12-games in 1987. Had he been able to play the full 16-game scheduled he might have approached 30! Interestingly Jerry Rice was also off the charts in '87. He had 21-TDs also in only 12-games on account of the NFL strike. That's better than any receiver has done in a 16-game season in NFL history. Any incredible year for both of them.
@05gtdriver2 жыл бұрын
The 1987 season was strange in that because of the strike, many dominant performances were made by, at the time, future hall of famers. Could White's and Rice's performances be a result of the lack of conditioning by opposing players? Yeah, 24 days doesn't seem like much, but in reality, it was more like 5 to 6 weeks of most players not in peak form. Need to research White's and Rice's week 5 through week 11 numbers versus their week 12 to 16 to see how much they dropped off or continued to perform at a high level as their opposition improved condition-wise. 🤔

Aaron Donald being a DT in this video is utterly insane lol.

He was only DT for a couple years untill the rams moved him to defensive end

@@CorYxKeNshun tf yju talking about? Donald always been a DT. Only year he played more end snaps was in 2020. Donald been a dt since 2014 lol. Rams play 3-4 defense so in theory Donald was an end but he always played inside😂😂

Had injuries not gotten in the way Houston would have been on track for the Hall. It’s a shame.
