Brave man... but I think if you had seen Alien for first time without the knowledge of the other Alien movies, I recon you would change your mind, it was a B movie made into hi art, its a masterclass in direction

Hey Zach great job on the video. Don’t ever feel bad that your ranking isn’t typical. As a KZbin viewer I find it much more entertaining watching an unorthodox ranking. It gets old seeing the same ranking over and over and over again. I’d much rather hear why someone loves a movie that isn’t necessarily everyone’s favorite. BTW I really enjoyed Covenant as well. 👍

Let’s go! Covenant is really great. It is a bold mix of old school gothic horror and alien sci fi. Space wizard Dr Frankenstein in his lonely gothic castle on a remote planet playing god. I think people who grew up with the franchise don’t like it because it isn’t a particularly good or coherent expansion of the OG alien or aliens worldbuilding. But it is a really good sci fi horror movie on its own

I think the best part about this franchise is that everybody's ranking will often be completely different, and each rating is valid. That's why it's had such lasting power in face of never being universally praised since 1986 because you don't have to be a fan to love Alien and Aliens but it takes a fan to dive deeper and enjoy the rest of this unique world. I also highly recommend the novels (specially the newer ones however the ones based on the Dark Horse comics are also fun) if you want a deeper dive into concepts that have been a part of the franchise since 1979 and those introduced in Prometheus and Covenant. Romulus, in the best way, felt like those novels.

There are great moments in Covenant.....the build up to the 'backburster' scene is among the best in the franchise. I'm glad you really enjoy that movie because (while it's nowhere near being the best for me) it's one i do really like and i think it gets too much hate

Before Romulus, my list was: 1. Aliens 2. Alien 3. Covenant (I know it's not a great movie, but I enjoyed the cinematography and ideas. David and Walters' story was very intriguing, and I loved the alien designs) Now that Romulus is out, it replaces Covenant for me. Im not sure where to put it in my ranking. I would need to watch it a few more times. BUT, I love all the Alien and AvP movies. I dont hate one or the other, and I've loved this franchise since I was a child.

I had only seen the first two Alien movies and saw Romulus a couple days ago. I had never wanted to watch any of them after Aliens after hearing things about the other ones, especially 3. I didn't want the other films to ruin the first two for me or taint anything from them but now I might have to watch all the other ones. You've made me curious. Hi Zack, I Don't think you're crazy & I respect Your ranking, even tho I'm 59.😊 When I was 18 my older foster brother invited me to his room w/friends to see Part of ALIEN on VHS, including Kane's alien chest-burst scene!😮 So I did not see Alien in Full or 'get' how Great a film it is til Years later, & I don't recall when I first saw ALIENS, tho I love it. FYI I've seen NO Predator films so No AvP, & I've Not yet seen Alien Resurrection (tho I've seen So Many of its Scenes in KZbin reviews, I feel like I've seen it), nor have I gone to a theater yet to see Alien Romulus, tho I want to; in the last 3 nites I watched Prometheus & Alien Covenant in full for my first time, I liked both films, & Agree w/you that Alien Covenant in many ways is Excellent, but I don't luv its end w/David as I wish it had a Happy ending. So of 5 Alien films I've seen so far, ranking from least good to Best &/or my Favorite: 5) Alien 3 4) Prometheus 3) Alien Covenant 2) Alien 1) Aliens Clearly the movies ranking will change a bit after I see Alien Resurrection & Alien Romulus.

My problem with PROMETHEUS is they set such a slow pace which is fine, I liked it.. but then like someone flips a switch and suddenly it's moving WAY too fast. I think it happens right when Shaw learns she's pregnant. Everything from that point on is TOO fast.

I was bracing for something truly disgusting, but it was surprisingly restrained. With all due respect there's no way Covenant is better than Prometheus let alone the first 2 movies, not even close. Luckily the general consensus is that Covenant is a mess of a movie, so disappointing. Very weird list or botherline bad, I know I know it's subjective but if you know just a little about movies, it's obvious how disapointing Covenant is. And you think it's the best Alien movie???🤣🤣🤣
