Nothing was true, everything was permitted. EDIT: Subs for the Japanese sections have been added, my mistake, forgot to hit publish. All subtitles for ENG and JP parts are now up.

One of my favorite things about the motorcycles is the way the lights on the cycles leave a trail when they first start moving, it's so beautiful!

I think that's an animation style used to highlight speed in a vehicle. Looks fantastic!

Akira is one scene of the legendary motorcycle side scene. I seen it referred hundred of times, Even I occasionally reference from here and there. Seeing what happened in the background and what actually too. It shows that sometimes you need closer and into overdrive to know the truth.

I really enjoyed this one! Though it takes more effort to make and gets less recognitionthan other type of content, i'm still hopeful we get to see more

Thanks! I'm really happy with how this one came out. There are some things I want to tweak i.e. a few more jokes and visual gags, but overall just wanted to lay the foundation down lol

Another fun myth about AKIRA was that its original theatrical run was an box office success. It only grossed 750m yen and lost money.
@TwoSevenX
@TwoSevenX 2 жыл бұрын
Wrong. Sixth highest grossing movie of that year and highest day-to-date earning by an animated movie. By the next fiscal year it had earned 80 million dollars and over 2 billion yen. Also fastest movie to receive a criterion packaging in history.
@xHomu
@xHomu 2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoSevenX It didn't even make top-10 for the year, which cuts off at 1050m yen. Go check eiren 1988. キネマ旬報, Issues 1000-1003 page 171 has it listed as 750m yen.
@xHomu
@xHomu 2 жыл бұрын
@@TwoSevenX $80m is also literally impossible. In 1988 yen that's over ¥10b, which no film ever break in the 1980s according to 日本映画製作者連盟. It's all the way until 1998 did a film broke the domestic run 10b barrier (Princess Mononoke).

@@xHomu PCost was 700, so initial without adjustment was "profitable", which ends your theory full stop. Your citation is also a single theater chain japanese run tabulation, not country wide. Secondly, Japanese box nets and gross are a matter of public record, and Film Threat listed most international net returns for their "emergence of anime" article. The film was profitable first year, one of the most profitable animated anythings ever by summer of 90, much less 91 when total home revenues could be tabulated by independent audit.
@TwoSevenX
@TwoSevenX 2 жыл бұрын
@@xHomu Entirely possible for a combination of home and theater combined *international* tallies which you are clearly hanging on to because semantics. It broke even immediately, was one of the most profitable non-disney animated anythings immediately, and the home release did record breaking stuff... immediately, at a time when the word weeaboo literally did not exist, and the word otaku was literally and only an insult.
