My favorite book of the month was a book I read about on a Reddit thread called ‘Japanese authors that aren’t named Haruki Murakami’ lol. It’s called ‘The Miracles of the Namiya General Store’ by Keigo Higashino, I really loved it, finished it in two days. Highly recommend!

In comparison to your mammoth reads, my recommendation might feel minuscule, but my favorite read of the month was Zadie Smith’s Intimations. This is a collection of six or so essays written at the beginning of the pandemic from Zadie’s perspective as she grapples with the drastically shifting tides. It lived up to its namesake, it was intimate and lovely and welcoming and reflective; I didn’t think I had any interest in reading about the pandemic (this may be the only exception), but her masterful use of language made me feel understood in a way I haven’t by many books recently. I would certainly recommend to anyone!

For manga that I think you would enjoy, I HIGHLY recommend Witch Hat Atelier! It follows a young girl named Coco who's dream is to become a witch and is introduced to the world of magic. The artwork is STUNNING and I think you would really enjoy it. I also recommend Blue Period (which is about a boy who's love for art is awakened), Yona of the Dawn (an insanely good historical fantasy/romance), Blue Flag (follows four friends in their last year of high school and has a love quadrangle including queer characters) and Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You.
