To save on fuel drying out the sock - boil water, pour in your water bottle and put it in the sock. The sock will dry quite quickly. I've even dried trekking tights this way. Also, sock over hot water bottle helps with warming up the sleeping bag, but this is something I'm sure most people know by now. The stove tipping over made me gasp 🥲

When pitching your tent always connect it to your backpack with a carabiner. This way, the tent is always anchored while you put the pegs in the ground.

And when setting up a tent, it is less likely to blow away if you open the flaps! Otherwise, you've just set up an inflated balloon for the wind to blow around.... And throw your gear inside to weigh it down, too!

Here in Canada if you go camping anywhere wild the LAST thing you do is cook in your tent or keep food in it - unless you want a close, personal encounter with a bear! And gas cookers with a big pot of water on top is trouble about to happen. Years ago I made a wooden base with holes for dowels that grip the gas canister tight. And I attached grommets to the base so I can spike it into the ground. Extra weight to carry, but worth it.

@@borutpeckaj2626 In North America we have black bears, brown bears and, of course, grizzly bears (out West and up north). And in the Arctic there are polar bears, which are very dangerous animals. Where I live on the East coast there seem to be bears everywhere you go. I've seen them a lot of times when I used to hike and camp in the Adirondack mountains in New York State and when canoeing and camping in the La Vérendrye provincial park. Brown bears do tend to avoid humans but the black bears are more fearless, and more likely to prowl around where you are camping for the night. And grizzly bears attack and kill humans every year. So, you don't keep food in your tent. Ever.

Just a few thoughts. First, anchor the tent before setting up the poles. Second, get much better tent stakes. Those thin ones won’t do anything. Those anchors for the rainfly were nice but you still want to use some guy lines attached to the fly to help with the wind. It’s one thing to cook in a vestibule, but in your tent?!

I respect you enormously for getting out there and making this video. But please take more care. You nearly burnt down the tent twice. You could have poisoned your self with carbon monoxide. 1) Never camp on top of mountains if possible, because often strong winds all night and a real possibility to get hit by lightning. 2) If you do need to get out and move, it is dangerous because most likely there are steep slopes, fog and lots of sharp rocks + pitch black darkness. Oh, and the wind will make moving much harder, if not impossible. In this video you could see lots of woods around and that would be the best spot to make shelter. It could have been an easy calm night :), but he chose the hard mode People should know that nature is unforgiving.

Also you need to keep a tight grip on your kit in the field/mountains. If you needed to bug out fast for whatever reason you don’t want to be chasing your stove or jacket around. If you’re not using a piece of kit at that moment you need to put it in your backpack. If you don’t you run the risk of losing it. In those environments it could mean the difference between life and death. In the 90’s there as a climbing exposition up Mt Rainier and the climbing party had to be rescued all because one person lost one glove and didn’t bring a spare pair.

Also invest in a small cutting board to put your stove on while you’re cooking OUTSIDE.

Do you American/Canadians viewers remember something called “four season tents”? 35 years ago - when I tent camped - they were supposed to be a heavier tent but packable. Almost all of these folks who tent camp on KZbin use Summer-weight tents. (Then there are the canvas tent types…) Never cook inside a tent! Unless you are prepping MRE’s. A good way to incinerate yourself…😱 Steam/condensation from your cooking and your warm breath in a small tent - led to frost inside the tent..

Loved your relaxing video! 🇸🇮 But please buy yourself a plastic tripod stabiliser for your gas canister to stop it toppling. It’s dangerous! And also cooking in your sleeping area risks death from carbon monoxide poisoning. CO is heavier than air but has no odour. It will lie in the bottom of the bath tub. Please cook outside, or at least in the tent entrance outside the bath tub, and use lots of ventilation even then. 🤞

I think you can get a folding plastic base for those gas canisters , although I still wouldn't like to use it in a tent.
