I got a TJ wiring loom for a 4.0 engine with a manual transmission, for Christmas. It was rather unpleasant to pull out the crusted over, destroyed, cracked, factory wiring harness from fuel tank all the way to the compurter and to the sensors. But it was so worth it. With the new wiring harness installed, my fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and speedometer, work now! My Jeep starts without opening the hood, runs very smooth, turns off without opening the hood, and my fuel pump does not cut off randomly. Unfortunately, the gift was from myself. But a gift is great whether from someone you love or from yourself, even if you do not love yourself.

I’ve had my cascadia4x4 panel on my JK for a few months now. The only thing I’m not happy with is the lack of any sort of power meter so you can tell how much power the panel is actually contributing. I bought a few different wireless display watt meters so I can monitor it from the cabin.

Great video. We have been looking for a solar option as much of our use is out in the stickers hours from pavement and nothing worse than a dead battery. This option gives more options for other things while protecting the rig battery. Really curious how this will hold up in the hot Arizona summer heat. Mahalo.

Hi Aleen&Greg! Cool install! I like it, but I really wish that Cascadia had allowances for the footmans loop and the bumpers. I know they are mostly for looks. But I guess it's a jeep thing. Will you need to install a deep cycle battery now? The thing that worries me is overcharging! With solar panels on home the extra juice is sent to electric companies. On your jeep there is no where for the power to go! Merry Christmas!

It comes with a charge controller that protects the system from overcharging! You can rig up a second battery if you'd like to save the charge once the battery is full juiced. Next week, you'll see why this isn't an issue for us at all!

Awesome video. Perfect for camping jeeps. I am a big fan of solar. We have panels on our travel trailer to keep its batteries up. Works amazingly well. Question - do you need to install a deep cycle battery to get full use from this solar panel? We upgraded the batteries in our trailer to lithium and thus freed up the Optima AGM batteries (blue tops) for other use. We put one in our TJ and it works great! We use Optima batteries in all of our vehicles except our trailer now. Our Jeep has louvers in its hood for cooling the engine bay so the panel you installed would not work for us. Is there a version that could go onto the hard top? Thanks again for the heads up of this awesome product. Solar is awesome!! Merry Christmas from the Wyoming high plains.

I see someone else uses their keys as a knife! I was always curious about how a solar panel would work on a vehicle - that looks like it would be great for an overlanding setup! Pretty unique to see a solar panel on the hood, though - kind of reminds of a black out cover on the hood. Does this panel continuously charge or does it 'shut off' at a certain voltage? I was always under the belief that overcharging can be bad on a battery, but I am no expert, haha! "Greganator" is great, btw!
