Well, modders are typically free to do whatever they want (so long as they aren't touching Pokemon), Nintendo has to follow the guidelines other companies give them to put characters in their games. A good example of this is how Super Smash Flash has anime characters, fanart characters, and even Mr. Incredible.

The title character, Kurō Hazama is a surgeon known for operating without a license and wears a black coat and his given name, Kurō , literally translates to "black". There is no other reason that title would be given specifically to a black costume. It's just like how Captain Falcon got his Falcon Punch and Falcon Kick from Kamen Rider.

Well, since he's doing fan-made Smash content, I guess it'll make sense for him to do either Crusade or Smash Flash 2 next. Although SSF2 still has characters who currently use color filters instead of actual palettes (namely DK, Zelda/Sheik, Meta Knight, Fox, Falco and Goku), I'd still love to see a video on it since its costume selection is pretty varied with some neat tidbits

I really love that they gave sonic justice in this game. His colors are amazing. His move pool has been mixed around so he's not just a ball all the time. And you can play as super sonic ANY TIME. This is hands down one of the greatest smash mods of all time- TOPPED ON by the fact that you can ACTUALLY play it on an n64.... incredible.

The green alt for Sonic gives me Scourge vibes rather than Vector vibes. For those who don't know, Scourge is a Sonic from a different universe where the good guys were bad guys, and the bad guys were good guys. Why his fur is green and not blue is because when he tried to use the Master Emerald, he was knocked down by an echidna. Due to his transformation being disrupted, his fur was permanently green from then on.

I love how you tied it to Octoman, tho. Maybe The Skull, also? - Pikachu + Jigglypuff's gross-looking green costumes, while found in the game's files, could also be a reference to the ridiculous amount of green Shiny Pokémon in the earlier generations. - Falco had a black costume in _Brawl,_ too. I was thinking at first that Captain Falcon's red and white color scheme was based on Phoenix, one of the racers who debuted in F-Zero AX before he was unlockable in GX, but Phoenix's color scheme is largely black and white with only the inside of his cape being red. It would have been fitting for Captain Falcon to have that costume in Smash, though. As for Sonic's yellow modern color scheme, it could also be a reference to Super Sonic rather than just Tails. They are both yellow-colored, after all.

More of the Super Sonic colors might be Dragon Ball references, the Blue one appears to be the same shade as super saiyan blue, the light pink one might be a super saiyan rose reference. The red one is more of a stretch but it could be a super saiyan god reference or it also could be a reference to Fire Sonic from Super Mario Bros Z since he's a similar shade of red.
