It's funny cause out of all of these Acnologia would still be the strongest if he was alive. The way he was beaten was ridiculous it shouldn't have happened....what they could've done that would've made far more sense than the official version would be to make Natsu go full E.N.D & defeat Acnologia by himself then have his friends pull him back by talking to him about everything they've been through together especially Lucy.

That would mean natsu would surpass acnologia then. We still need people to talk about acno how he is still the strongest in the verse and it's not even close. Acnologia losing to natsu like how you said (although I wish that'd have happened too) will stop people talking about him altogether. And we don't need that. So I'm satisfied with how he was defeated and that too makes sense in a way.

Its probably due to conflicting elements with gray. Gray's power is already too advance. Making an ice dragon slayer would outshine either of them. Hiro mashima once tried to make wendy a water dragon slayer but since theres already juvia he made her as a wind/sky, if he made wendy into a water DS then readers would just compare her with juvia and in a logical sense its better if wendy and juvia in one party, he avoided that problem. So its sometimes better to improve an existing character instead making a new one. Gray's power is already a similar level as a dragon slayer anyway and Ice make magic isnt an everyday magic either, he even got a power up from a demon. I dont see why FT need an ice dragon slayer in the story

Funny thing in Edens Zero that Shiki, Ziggy and Xenolith use Gravity Ether Gear or Satan Gravity however their attack move spelled Makai-ryu. The name was translated as Magimech Attack however different translation is Demon Dragon which their moves kind of tick the sound like Dragon Slayer Magic. Even more, Overdrive is also like Drive which giving advanced power and aura.

Wendy was actually originally going to be a water dragon slayer, but the creator decided that it would clash with Juvia's magic too much. Probably the same reason as to no ice dragon slayer with Gray, though he is an ice devil slayer, so we do get to see a basic idea of what ice slayer magic is like.
