I have a 1991 (debut year of the JB) Jeff Beck Strat in vintage white. I had the Wilkenson nut retrofitted with an LSR roller nut, after experiencing issues with the original nut. I've noticed how these early JB Strats have appreciated in value by checking the Vintage Guitar Price Guitar each year when it's published. In contrast to the EC and other signature Strats, these original version (HSS) JB Strats are fairly rare which I assume affects the price. The original JB is one of the most unique Strats that Fender ever made.

I also have a 91 vintage white, I personally believe that the reason they're so expensive (1st version) is because of the changes that were made throughout the years. The Wilkinson roller, locking tuners and lace pick ups made it unique. Plugged into my evil twin, nothing can touch the tone I get from that combo.

Love the video! I have 4 Fender strats. My first I bought in 1982 when I decided to learn to play. White MIJ. Spent a lot of time on that and would never let it go! Next one I got was a 2008 American Standard. A deep wine red, light metallic, just SSS. Love it...very...stratty! Then I found one I'd been looking for a long time. A 2007 American Deluxe with the LSR and HSS in a clear/amber finish (you can see the wood grain). Gorgeous and a beautiful sounding piece of art to me. So last year I decided I needed to complete the set and found me a 2010 mexi strat. SSS. In metallic blue. Had a few bumps and dings on it, but frets and everything else perfect. Bought it with the idea of maybe "fixing it up," maybe some mods, but once I played it...nope. Tone is unbelievable on that thing so didn't do anything but swap out the tuners for locking fender tuners.

I bought n play 1999/2000 MiM Standard Strat. The fret are worn, but it's the only guitars i have. I change the wiring into Blender, change the pots to DiMarzio and put a treble bleed on the vol pots, and 0,47 orange caps on the tone pots

Some of my favorite things about your content is that you’re consistent, reliable, NICE, & haven’t forgotten the perspective of being a fan of guitars. You help others generate, aim, & retain excitement for the *potential* that every guitar represents. A person never exactly knows which guitar or amp will introduce them to a new *self*. You help.

The Lace Sensor Strats in general go for a premium nowadays- I'm sure that the Jeff Beck version is kind of the pinnacle of those guitars in that era- other than the Strat Plus models produced in the first year the model was introduced- which was, I believe 1987. I had a 1988 model, and brand new they sold for $550. In the era of shredder guitars, they were really a modern twist on the old classic- and they sounded really, really good. Having those locking tuners and roller nut- you could jam on the tremolo and it would stay in tune without issue. I wish I still had mine, but I had to sell it because I needed the money at the time, like I'm sure many did. I think a lot of people also look fondly on the Strat Plus because it was the first flagship strat model when Fender were bought from CBS and taken private. They were extremely well built and really a great value.

I celebrate many, if not all, guitars but God knows there is nothing like a Fender Stratocaster. If we sent a space probe to another galaxy with examples of our culture, the type of electric guitar that humanity would send is a good old Fender Strat. There is no debate. Thanks TTK !

I have a mexi strat that I purchased for 299 with no tax (pre-owned). Then, I put a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge. I used to go to a local open-mic event for about idk.. like 7-8 months with that guitar with a jackson js-22 as a backup. Impeccable tone and quality considering the deal.

Here goes. I got a '04 Mexi-Standard Strat I picked up cheap around X-mas. Ripped out the Select pups it came with and Installed a set of true velvet's, upgraded the pots to CTS pots with the CRL 5-way switch. New Tusq nut and string trees, a set of Fender locking tuners, and a fret level, crown and polish. It plays well above it's price range now. My other is a Squire hot rails deluxe that's stock but is fun to play as well.

Love the Stratocaster. Marginally tops the Telecaster for 1st place in my likes. I have an 85-86 MIJ 3 tone sunburst/white pickguard Contemporary with maple finger board and system one bridge, and a 2005 MIM Agave Blue/black pickguard, rosewood finger board HH. Nothing expensive, but they are very nice guitars. The MIJ Strat was the first guitar i bought. Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmore inspired me a bit on that purchase. I owned an Ovation Preacher Deluxe 1283 mini humbucker, splitable, active electronics, 24 fret with an ebony fingerboard as my first guitar. I was talked into that by the shop owner and I am happy i listened. This was a gift from the folks after taking lessons for a year on a black Ariel Les Paul copy provided by the same shop.

I had that exact EC Strat same color. and a black one. I know the black one was bought in 98 or 99. They’re great. I liked the lace sensor pups. But I found them to be really stiff re bending strings anyway I could’ve fixed that issue. But I traded them for Brian Moore custom shop super strats. Nobody but diehard fans know them anymore since they’re direct now but if you check out Carlos Santana’s guitarist, he plays them. Curved for confirt, thin, Seymour Duncan hbs any combination u want. Piezo in the bridge is ubesnt. Coil tap. There’s like 14 tones you can get out of them. And if u want, I don’t but usb and synth accessibility. Some of their tops are the best too. A few I gave gave the best tips I’ve seen. Bengal striped, then tobacco sunburst curly maple, and a chameleon one that has 4 colors in it copper, blue, green and purple.

The Stratocaster is the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. I'm hooked on them, I own 2 of them, one black and one Dakota red, but I'm constantly fighting the urge to buy another one. The neck is a beauty, the body is contoured perfectly, it sounds good, it stays in tune. There's nothing bad about them.

I own a 1995 MIM Fender Squier series. Which is suppose to be overstock USA neck and body shipped down to Mexico, but it has (had) import electronics and hardware. I purchase it new in Brunswick, ME and have had it ever since. Being an early 80's metal fan I started off on Jackson until a friend introduced me to SRV and I had to have a strat . This is one guitar I will never sell.. It currently has Seymour Duncans in neck, middle, and the bridge is one of my winds. Everything else is pretty much stock (except the pots and caps) including the crappy tuners which surprising does a great job of staying in tune.

By by the way, I have a couple of Mex Strats that I basically upgraded by putting in better pups and nuts. In one Mex strat I put in the 59 vintage Fender pups, and in another the 57/62 pups as I love that vintage strat sound. I bought another Mex strat on sale in a beautiful seafoam pearl green and planned to place 1965 pups - but the thing came stock with such nice mojo and - not a very Straty sound - but a really nice sound and so player friendly smooth - that I just changed the nut and turners (locking). Aside from the Squier, it is the least expensive strat I own - but the most reliable - go to - strat I own. Stays in tune ( rarely do I bother with the trem and the bridge is flush with the body) -so well. I am afraid that if I mess with the pups that such would ruin the soul of it. GC may still have these around and they sometimes go for 499. I got mine last year just before fender put out the Players Series, so I thought I missed an opportunity. But in the final analysis I think I got a sleeper here. The pups are the oder cereamic ones - I believe- but there is something different about this model and I can't put my finger on it. A sleeper and a keeper. But someday I will get the 65 pups as those are the ones that Hendrix used before going to Seymore Duncans. I am an older gentleman and mcuh a beginner, but I am a big fan of strats and Teles. Guitars and playing has been a not so secret desire of mine for years. That Jeff Beck strat is a beauty! My inspiration has been the core four Clapton, Page, Beck and Hendirix (not in that order ) but there are many others I love. Congrats and thank you again.. Peace-

I have a 70's reissue natural and a Lite Ash with Seymour Duncans, the LA I picked up as a swap, the kid who had it said it had been refretted and it also had Fender locking tuners on, the refret is shoddy to put it mildly and the tuners were out of sequence with the long and short poles mixed up, I get the feeling that the kid had done it himself, worked on the frets, rearranged the tuners, adjusted the neck and it's all ok. I also have an odd bod bass MIJ Fender Precision Lyte with active circuitry and a Jazz neck, my other guitar is another MIJ Telecaster, HSS with Kahler Locking trem, both MIJ's are from the 84 to 87 single serial period that covers the 3 years of production.

Very nice collection, TTK 🤘🏻. I have 2 Strats: a 2014 Select Exotic with the flame maple top, birdseye maple fretboard that’s inlaid into a rosewood neck, abalone dots & of course, Fender locking tuners. The color is Bing Cherry. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have a 2002 MIM standard that’s a deep metallic wine color (I think Fender called it Bordeaux). I added a black Graph Tech string tree & matching Graph Tech saddles, a 920D Joe Satriani loaded pickguard (cream pearloid with black pickups) & black Knobeez rubber knobs & Fender locking tuners. This guitar came from the factory with the most beautiful flamed maple neck you could imagine. I wish they hadn’t put a rosewood fretboard on it! I haven’t seen a neck like this one on another strat but I bet somewhere there’s others!

It took me over 30 years of playing guitar before deciding to buy a Strat. Historically, as much as I loved Hendrix, Yngwie, SRV, and other great Strat players, I just wasn’t a big fan of Strats for rock guitar tones for my own playing (always liked the clean tones though). Eventually I came around and now absolutely enjoy them. They make me play differently vs a humbucker equipped guitar, and that can be a great thing 😊. I ended up getting a Fender Elite Strat, which has a lot of nice extra features, like locking tuners, the S-1 switching system, a C to D morphing neck with a compound radius and heel contour... some people may scoff at the extras but it makes for a more pleasant playing experienece. Anyway, nice collection TK!

I have an MIM Strat now the CS Texas Special pickups, vintage wiring and locking tuners. I’d like to own an American strat but the right one hasn’t come along yet. I own two Carvin strats with Fender CS pickups and the build quality seems superior especially the tight neck pocket. I basically have the Steve Harris bass on a partscaster build I did and it's my main bass now. I love the fat, chunky neck, and the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder is ballsy as fuck with 50 gauge flatwounds. I basically bought the Steve Harris neck off of I think it was the Stratosphere, and bolted it onto a Squier Mike Dirnt Precision body, as I like the 50's style body with the arm contour. I went with a gotoh 201 as personal preference and hipshot ultralites so the headstock wasn't down by my ankles. The thing shreds.

Thanks for showing us your Stratocasters, all very nice indeed ! I have 2 mim Fender Strats which I frankly can't put down , they're both so nice to play in different ways. '14 60th anniversary 50's Classic Player , Desert Sand ,gold hardware & gold anodised gaurd, '57/'62 pickups with special switching, reverse wound middle pickup which reads a whopping 6.86k ohms compared to the neck 5.65 & bridge 5.68 . The finish is 100% thin skin nitrocellulose lacquer which is aging gracefully ,in a different way to my '11 avri Tele which appears to have a Polyester or Polyurethane undercoat beneath the nitro . My other Strat is a '15 Hendrix Strat in Olympic white . It has Pure Vintage '65 pickups , reverse staggered poles and is probably a lot like your pair of white reverse heads . I wanted one when they came out over here , they were around £400 ,black or white . Before that they put out the USA made Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster ,which is very similar . New , they were £750 , used nowadays they are often advertised around £1500 - £2000 .

I have a red burst 1991 Strat Plus Deluxe (USA) with Fender Lace Sensors (blue, silver, red), wilkinson nut, locking tuners and the pop in tremolo. I changed the white pickguard out for a black one. I paid about $550 used in 1993. The guitar is mint and has all of the original paperwork in the original molded case.

I got a 62 re-issue I bought in 91. I chipped the paintwork on the first day I owned it taking the guitar lead out and was so depressed over it that I put back in the case and in the cupboard. It stayed there until about 2009. I finally got over it and pulled it back out and I'm still getting to know it.

Wow, you would have wet your bed if you'd seen what I put my 1979 American Strat through. Bought new in 1980. Burns on the headstock, baptized in beer many times ... knocked over a few times... This thing was relic'd like it was 10 years old, all in the first year I owned it. It took all that and still played like a dream till I sold it. Cheers!

Great vid. I own an 89 strat plus. Nicest most consistent strat ever. A friend has an 89 and I love his so I went hunting. I used to have a Richie sambora signature but, the Floyd bothered me so I sold it (for a nice little profit) and used some of that to finance the 89.

oh man, you let the Sambora go? I'd love one some day, but they are mega bucks. I may get the imported Kramer Sambora when they are available.

@@thetonekingofficial to be honest, i don't use a trem enough to validate the floyd and it was not getting used. The sambora let me know what I want in a strat, which was, in essence, a strat plus. they are brilliant.

I really only play guitar, however the only Bass I have ever wanted and still want is the Spector bass when it was owned by Kramer back in the day. Never seen a used one for sale in 20 plus years.

I thought the pups to get for the reverse stock Strat would have been Fender 1959 vintage pups. Is that not what SRV had on his famous #1? I am a fan of Texas Specials. The cheaper TEX Mex pups worked well for me on an upgraded Squier guitar. What an incredible collection. Fun watching and listening to how you acquired each guitar. Peace -

Do you have my Jeff Beck Strat? it looks like it.. watching..... yep.. same on I have.. that purple is unmistakable. it's my go-to but I changed out the bridge pickup. it was my holy grail (you will be mine) guitar.. I saved up forever. played it daily at the shop until I could take it home. I was new maybe 1200 bucks :) So much road use it's bare in places but never , ever, goes out of tune and I live in a dry cimlate. btw I hated the color at first but when I picked it up to try, at the sales guys' suggestion, I fell in love.. regardless of color. After I played it on stage I changed my mind about the color.. it looks great on stage and changed color in the light.

Beeing a bassplayer I am also interested in guitars - and even more in guitars and basses that have some kind of a story behind "only beeing a guitar" but one with a story. Like my good old Precision Bass, built in 1964, that I bought with my first earned money in 1979. It was my first real good instrument, and I still feel this way. This Bass (and a stunning Kasuga Jazz Bass made by Matsumoko) and me made it through the first years of my music career, until some German luthiers started making real good instruments. Later l returned to instruments invented by Leo Fender, but from MusicMan, as I never was satisfied with the 5string basses Fender made. Congratulations to your Steve Harris bass. I purchased a MiM Precision 50's Classic, used, this spring, and I have to say that this one is a great instrument for the price. I was on the market for a Precision Bass for some time, but I could not find the right one. Then I found this MiM - series three years ago and decided to get me one if I would find one. And I did. Used, three years old and not played a lot, in mint condition. And for the half of the price when it was new. Those had a street price of a grand of european money, give or take. Its like my old 1964 and the MiM have the same neck, radius, thicknes and contour, but the new one has to be played a lot until it gets the feel of an old, played a lot, worn in Bass. I will do my verry best.

I've got an 89 Strat Plus with the maple neck. Got it back in early 90s. Had to take the Lase Sensors out though. Just could not get get the Strat sound I wanted. Threw some Custom Shop Texas Specials in there and never looked back. The weird thing is this guitar is the hardest of all my guitars to play so I use it mainly for slide. It sounds great but dang its just so friggin hard to bend the strings. I've had several guitar techs work on it, put 9s on it and still hard to play. But, I love it and will never ever sell it!

Hey Terry. I have thought about it, but given how long I've had it, and given I gigged on it, leaving it as-is brings me back to my past, which I'm all about, so I'll leave it as is. But I did think about it. In fact, I have a Fender TBX circuit and midboost circuit ready to go. Going to most likely install into another guitar. Another guitar, another day, another video. haha.

Great collection TK. Personally, I can't bring myself to forking out dollars on Fenders when it's basically a neck screwed to a piece of wood. When it comes down to it, I'm a DIY guy and I'd rather spend the dollars on swapping out a pickup set if the guitar plays well. It's just finding the playing well guitars! Anything Fender (even Squiers) are pricey in oz, even second hand. You don't want to know the prices of Gibsons! Definitely thumbs up and \m/ for the Steve Harris bass! While I love the shape of a strat, they shit me to play because of the volume knobs. But I've got a few I've built from parts like a Black Dave Murray, a Blackmore, a Knopfler, an SRV, a Gilmour, a Clapton blackie and a Hendrix woodstock style. The one I haven't done (yet) is a metallic blue with a flamed maple neck.

The Steve Harris P bass would be a very nice addition to any collection....my first and only strat ..a early 2000s squier SE only the black body (fender spec model) remains...its now a david gilmour tribute guitar with an ssl5 in the bridge planet tone 69 voodoo for the middle and a planet tone 59 overwound in the neck. They are fantastic pickups. Keep up the good work from all the way down here in new Zealand...

I own 3 strat style guitars - one is a G&L Legacy in Honey (natural), the second is a fender American with a solid rosewood neck, The third is a no brand Chinese Strat that is like a 3D printed copy of the fender Aamerican but with a cherry burst (light) body and a almost perfect unfinished maple neck with what appears to be a rosewood fretboard (it cost $48 on ebay) I swapped the pickups for 3 $5 ebay hotrails, so total cost $65 ; )

I bought a Strat Plus in '96 new for £585 (couldn't afford the £900 asking price for the Clapton Signature at the time, also new) Read in a book a few years later that the Strat Plus was intended to be the Jeff Beck signature model but he decided to have a humbucker instead, glad Fender still released it anyway

According to something I read in a book I have about Gilmour's iconic black Strat, Eric Clapton gave David Gilmour a Clapton Signature Strat at some point in the 1980s. Gilmour used it a little bit, but reportedly didn't like the sound of the mid-boost. Interesting connection to your Clapton/Gilmour hybrid, I think! :) My first electric was a Strat that I still have...a 1988 MIJ '66 reissue. It's the only Strat I own, which is actually surprising to me, but it's definitely the guitar I use most and I think a lot of my guitar-playing friends think of me as a "Strat guy." Those Beck Strats are AWESOME and definitely a guitar my friends and I drooled over. Love the vid!

Thanks trushack. Interesting tidbit about the Clapton / Gilmour thing. haha. Maybe that's why Gilmour put the EMG SAs into his red strat ?? I'm only guessing, but how ironic would that be.

@@thetonekingofficial I'll take a look! It's all in a book that details Gilmour's rig pretty extensively. I *think* Gilmour had the red EMG Strat prior to getting the Clapton one, but I'm not entirely sure.
