It's not referenced in Smash, but Terry actually has an upgraded version of the Power Dunk called the Star Dunk Volcano, similar to how Power Geyser is v.2 Power Wave and Buster Wolf is v.2 Burning Knuckle. It would have been cool if they used that in Triple Wolf too.

Another fine touch to Sepiroth's final smash is that the players he hits, face him when he does the final smash cutscene in his ultimate form. This layout is also reference to the way the player characters in Final Fantasy 7 are facing towards Sepiroth in that final battle. This is especially noticeable if Sepiroth manages to hit three players with his Final Smash.

"while Samus regains her suit, somehow." In Metroid lore, the Power Suit is a piece of chozo biotech crafted specifically for Samus's body and psychic signature. It's not just a machine, it's a living being, physically and psychically connected to Samus. This is also why the parts of it that were surgically removed in Fusion were able to return in Dread-- it's healing.

Fun Fact: Volt Tackle in the Pokémon games has massive recoil damage, meaning it damages the user after the move is executed. While Pikachu doesn’t follow this rule, Pichu does. However, I don’t think it’s to be accurate to the games in relation to the move. According to Pichu’s dex entry in the games (which has changed many times so I’ll give a summarization), it’s still a baby and it’s unable to properly store/control its electricity, so it frequently hurts itself when it uses electric based attacks or gets excited.

Zelda's Ultimate FS is actually kind of used in the Zelda series. Especially in Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time, it's using the Triforce to seal the foe away like it's used to seal Ganondorf away. It can also connect to the fact that Zelda is always the reincarnation of the goddess Hylia.

A few notes I've realized: - A giant Jigglypuff appears in one episode, alongside a giant Gengar, of the original anime series. It can also be said that Pokemon in Smash are closer to their anime appearances (where they often speak their names rather than whatever sounds they make in the games). - I believe Zelda has used her abilities to seal away Ganon a few times (the wiki notes Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild as examples). - There is a Mega Mewtwo Y in Pokemon's Genesect movie, although it might be implied to be a different one compared to the First Movie. An interesting bit of trivia, it uses its Mega X form in Pokken Tournament, the other fighting game it's in. - There is a 2nd climax gauge for the Gammorah summon, which people don't seem to realize. You fill this by mashing the attack button, just like in the Bayonetta games, to increase your damage output.

Also, a little note on Hero's FS: It implements the Kazapple spell from earlier installments of the DQ series, which involves the entire active party giving power for a highly damaging lightning bolt. (A rough translation of the Japanese name for the spell is 'Everybody Zap', to note.) Normally, 'the entire active party' is four characters, so one with eight involved should be extra powerful.

The sort of whirlpool that Corrin creates in their Final Smash is used in Fire Emblem games such as Fire Emblem Warriors and Fire Emblem Heroes, however given that both games came after Corrin was announced as a DLC character for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU, so it's more likely that it just was something created for Smash and that ended up being used later on.

2 things: 1. Dedede's Final Smash in Brawl is potentially inspired by a move that he has in Squeak Squad, in which he'd yell and have Waddle Dees fall from the sky. Considering that this is a move he only uses further in the battle, how easy he is to beat in that game (he is the first boss) and how obscure Squeak Squad is among Kirby games, it's likely not many people have encountered it. 2. Sephiroth's cutscene is shorter in the Japanese version because FFVII was infamously very rushed, with Supernova using the cutscene of a different Sephiroth attack as opposed to its own dedicated cutscene that wasn't finished in time. The occidental version of the game is the "true version" of FFVII, being released in Japan later in a similar vein to the Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts.

For Terry, his final smash is pretty much the evolution of his supers. Triple Geyser was his first super in the original FF games, first appearing in FF2 as subsequent power geysers at a fixed range, and then was experimented on in 2002 as faster, tracking geysers. In XIII onwards, this is just a simple extension of range than three geysers instead. The line he says is "Overheat" The latter half is Buster Wolf, which is from Garou/Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves as his new super. It remains unchanged, however his line before that ("here's a big one") debuted in KoF XIV to match the new look, and it's been recurring since XV.

Konga Beat might've also been based on Bongo Blast, a screen-nuke move from Donkey Kong 64 that could also activate certain events. The Yoshi partner in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door could summon a stampede of Yoshi's as an attack, but you're right that it debuted in Melee. I could be wrong, but I thought Falco's Landmaster played slightly differently from Fox's. The Three Sacred Treasures were in the original Kid Icarus. That's why Palutena said that she remembered it being more pixellated. Star Wolf's vehicles are called Wolfens, not Arwings. You did pronounce "Hadouken" right, though, and that's way too rare for something you hear more than you read.

2:46 I don't think Yoshi's stampede is really a smash original. A little Yoshi team member from Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door happens to have this movement as well, although that one doesn't cut to a cutscene but he does summons like a hundred Yoshis to heavily damage all enemies.

Yoshi’s “Stampede” is not smash original, it’s from Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, one of Yoshi’s moves when it’s leveled up all the way. It only attacks ground units and does 6 damage though and is countered if the enemy has a defense over 1, so it was never really that great.

7:36 It was always weird to me that Ness used Pk Starstorm, PK Fire, Pk Thunder, and Magic Absorb because in Earthbound he could do none of that. There were only 3 different shield barrier types in Earthbound ( resistance, deflection, and nullification if I recall) none of them absorbed magic and even if they did Ness shield kit was a resistance / nullification for physical attacks, not magic. His magic consisted of Flash, Sleep, Paralyze, and his ultimate "Rockin" which was supposed to signify some sort of physic shitstorm was happening. also never hit himself with lightning in Earthbound ever especially move from one place to another. (He couldn't cast it in the first place) How he reacts to lightning is half right. Ness wears a badge that protects him from shock, but I say half right because the badge is meant to deflect lightning which is a significant part of EB at a couple points in the game. Everything else was spot on though, from the flash to the Yo-yo and bat attacks. (Heads up this is going to be very long.) Paula on the other hand was the Goddess of elemental destruction, she could cast all the elements Fire, freeze, and Thunder. Her shield kit was Magic Nullification and Magic deflection while possessing a move that's able to steal magic but not in the way Smash portays with the absorption shields. In Earthbound Magic steal was an offensive move. When Poo learns PK Starstorm, it's particularly badass and if you played EB in the 90s you know what im talking about it was particularly memeroable. So it was really puzzling seeing Ness pull all this stuff off in Smash. During Smash64 nobody thought anything of it, just the fact that Ness was even on anything but Earthbound at the time and was also 3d had EB fans hypnotized for its entire run at least until Melee. It wasn't until Melee that I gotten used to Ness being in Smash enough that I could comfortably start criticizing the stuff that really isn't making sense with Ness especially after seeing him pull off Star storm. Earthbound is a really big game. If you've ever actually beat the game you'll know what im talking about. its actually really surprising how much content is on EB, and always become apparent to me right before fighting Giygas. You always look back and think "wow they were able to fit all of this into a cartridge" that said the story being that big left quite large plot holes. And in my opinion those very plot holes are in direct conflict with how EB is portrayed in Smash. There is alot but let's start with "Perhaps he taught Ness the secret of the attack to use in Super Smash Brothers Brawl" The "Perhaps" is the subject killer here. On an outward look it seems really innocent...."poo taught Ness and that was that." What they want you to think is that "oh well after the game ended Poo and Ness got together blah blah blah" No. It's more complicated than that. The Perhaps is there for a reason and it's to cover up a really big plot hole in EB. The Perhaps wouldn't be there Otherwise, trust me. It's because we actually don't know who Poo really is or what he signifies. The interesting thing about Poo is he sort of suffered from the same problem Aerith did in FF7, when simple translation problems just change fundamental aspects of that character, events pertaining to that character or even the game as a whole. Example with Aerith being Aeris and it made an impact on western strat guides and other western releases while advent children and Japanese culture kept it Aeris but that one small little error did make a significant difference in how things went down. Poos situation is quite different with minor similarities. Truth is we don't know alot about Poo or how real he really was. It could have been a a mistake in translation, or could have been the story. Ill explain. In order to aquire Poo as a party member, you must travel to a certain destination and find a woman who sells a product called "Magic Cake" It's worth noting that this game is super wacky but has been rather coherent up until that point.. but right around the time you are about to eat the Magic Cake things get alittle weird. And I don't mean in the literal sense, in the game you eat the magic cake and things do indeed get weird but I just mean story wise things make about as much sense as they could but once you eat that cake things from a story perspective really start to just not make sense and it's either due to a poor translation, or that part of the story was articulated fine and it was just really bad writing. It turns out, if I recall correctly, it was both. Could be wrong on that but moving forward ... what happens is you finally get your hands on this cake. Again, things in the game are making sense up until this point from a world building perspective. But the minute Ness eats that cake is where the Mess begins. Basically, when Ness eats the cake, the screen does a bunch of Wackado shit that sort of imply that you didn't just eat it and move on. Something happened, things are sounding weird and distorted. It's a clear distinction from when let's say you were at that Hotel outside of Threed where you got ambushed by that Zombie Prostitute (God I love this game) it was pretty obvious what happened the screen goes black and you hear the 16 bit noise equivalent of getting smashed in the head with a planter or something. No the screen distorts the music turns super trippy, it's super clear that you took some Cake laced with SoMeThInG. The screen goes black, and it says something along the lines of Ness having a super vivid dream and then you are introduced to Poo who resides in a whole different country far away. At this point the game clearly states Ness is dreaming, but it becomes super apparent that its not a dream. Eventually after 10 minutes of trials you are able to meet up with Ness by the Magic cake lady and oh it wasn't a dream after all. Ness and the gang are fine and aren't even tripping anymore. From this point on in the game Poo is seemingly your 4th party member. The problem is that little section of when Ness ate the Magic cake told us nothing and in fact confused us even more in the process. If it was a dream, did Ness basically just create Poo by eating magic cake purely by thoughts? Or has Poo existed and it was mistranslted and meant to say something else because Poo existing sort of makes it not a dream. You see what I mean? There's no clear indication of what Poo is because in the span of the time where You are the Magic cake and Poo joins up with you, something goes wrong somewhere. Whether it's translation or story, a super big part was left out. Because there are vague clues that imply that either can be true depending on how you are looking at the game. This all brings me back to the Smash Brothers section of things. If there's any additional canon information we are going to get for EB it's going to be from smash. Even then there isn't too much hope but it's the closest. Seeing the "perhaps " there is disappointing it would have been nice to know for sure how Ness acquired starstorm because it could have given us some better insight on who Poo truly was as opposed to all this speculation Lastly Poo can be only 1 of 3 things. 1. Is real to begin with 2. Created by Ness in a tangible sense 3. Created by Ness in a non tangible sense (extremely likely to not be the case but there's enough evidence to show its plausible at the very least) So yeah that's my gripe with this whole thing. It's hard to put into words unless youve played through earthbound it's pretty easy to say that Poo is clearly real .. but that cake scene always throws me for a loop and I can never really fell from that point on Thanks for reading!

I feel like Young Link’s Final Smash shouldn’t have referenced the Triforce, because Young Link never used it’s power. He only received it when Ganondorf touched the Triforce and caused it to split, where at that point, Young Link was sealed away for seven years. IMO, a better Final Smash would be using his masks to lay the beatdown on enemies. Using the Deku Mask, he traps enemies in a bubble, then switches to Goron Link to unleash a series of punches, culminating in one that sends them flying, whereupon he then switches to Zora Link and uses electrically charged boomerangs to keep them in place. Finally he switches one last time to Fierce Deity Link and charges forward to deliver the final blow. Or at the very least, use Triforce Slash while dressed as Fierce Deity Link.

Guess I'll just make up a bunch of random Final Smashes for some other characters: - *Captain Toad: Draggadon Blast* (Cinematic) Rides Draggadon as it barrels through opponents. - *Paper Mario: Star Beam* (Cinematic) Various allies from the Paper Mario series wish upon the Star Spirits, who blast opponents with a beam. - *King Boo: Painting Trap* Sucks an opponent into a painting frame. If their damage is critical, they're instantly KOed. - *Cinderace: G-Max Fireball* (Cinematic) In a stadium, Cinderace Gigantamaxes and launches its fireball to carry opponents into the sky. - *Mona: Mega Microgames* (Cinematic) Performs three among several random microgames from her friends, with the nose-picking finger as a finishing move. The more microgames successfully completed, the more powerful the attack. - *Shadow: Chaos Blast* Turns into Super Shadow, slows down opponents in a zone near himself, then unleashes a Chaos explosion that goes even further. - *Octoling: Tenta-Missiles* Fires a volley of missiles toward an aimed area, homing in on any opponents near the area. - *Legionis: Legion Fusion* (Cinematic) Fuses with their Legion, barraging foes with claw attacks, and finishing with a claw slam. - *Travis: Full Armor Mode* (Cinematic) Flies at opponents in Full Armor, firing a volley of missiles before delivering an explosive slash. - *Chell: Lunar Ejection* Fires forth a large portal that links to the moon far above, sucking opponents into space. If their damage is critical, they'll be instantly KOed - otherwise, they'll be launched toward the stage's floor. - *Filbo: Bugsnak Attack* (Cinematic) Opponents doused in Special Sauce get assaulted by Mama Mewon, Daddy Cakelegs, Megamaki, and Mothza Supreme. - *Sol Badguy: Branding Breach* (Cinematic) Activates Dragon Install form and strikes an opponent with an erupting punch. Also hits other opponents with a fiery burst on the stage. If the target opponent's damage is critical, they'll be instantly KOed.

One correction: Dr. Finale isn't a true reskin. It's fundamentally identical to Mario Finale but it does a smaller number of more powerful hits. This actually makes it slightly worse since it can be DI'd out of. Also, fun fact about Psystrike, it was introduced in Gen 5, but it was so obscure due to having to transfer a Mewtwo from earlier games before it reached level 72 that most people didn't even know the move existed until Gen 6. And a correction with Wolf's Final Smash from Ultimate, Star Wolf doesn't use Arwings. "Arwing" is the name of the specific model of fighter used by Star Fox, constructed by Arspace Dynamics originally as an experimental platform for the Cornerian military. The ship used by Star Wolf is called the "Wolfen", which was built by Macbeth Weapons Factory as a counter to the Arwing during the Lylat War. Fun fact about the final Cloud vs Sephiroth fight from FF7, Sephiroth only has 1hp in that fight and doesn't deal enough damage to kill Cloud in one hit. Even an auto-counterattack will kill him. And a fact about Malicious Moonsault - it's actually a 360 Degree Press. The trapped house in Steve's final smash isn't a naturally occurring structure, but its architecture is directly based on the Stronghold, albeit with more detail added suggesting it was built by an experienced player who specializes in building, like Grian or GoodTimesWithScar. The equations in Supernova are post-graduate calculus with some trigonometry thrown in for good measure. I know enough calc and trig to recognize which specific branch of mathematics they're form but good luck making heads or tails of them - they're the kind of stuff you'd go over in a PhD level astrophysics class.

Yoshi also has a stampede move in Paper Mario TTYD. The hearts in Peach's Final Smash may also be a reference to Legend of the Seven Stars, since her healing moves were accompanied by hearts and the FS is a healing/status move combo.
