@ricardosarcar2 күн бұрын
How is the conversation meat head? The irony. I don't need a list on screen to remember which machines are crap and which are not. To start with, RP isn't really targetted to beginner lifters. Most of the content are pretty technical that the average person going to gym just to get exercise wouldn't really care to know. There are other channels that are better for beginner lifters. Not having graphics isn't a dealbreaker for intermediate level lifters. Most would know which machines they are talking about without the images. If you really wanna know what machines they are talking about you can just pause the video and google search if you cared that much to know. Not a big deal.

I actually just switched because it's so much closer, and because I have enough equipment at home to make up for it's shortcomings... But they have the most intense calf machine at mine. I could barely walk for days. It is seated, but it extends the legs and bends the hips forward so it's like ultra stretched. In just the right position it feels like it's pushing my toes to my shin. That and the dual assisted pullup-dip stations are easily worth the 15 a month. Yeah, I'm pretty far along the way of consuming all of Mike's content on youtube at this point, and must say, this video just doesn't work without illustrations, sorry. Just like how the original designers of these machines had different ideas to what's important and what works, if people are left to imagine how these look like, there's literally not a solid ground truth to stand on when talking about them. I also get how it could be a problem to find good images without them becoming a blatant ad for or diss on gym equipment manufacturers... But you guys are smart, you can figure it out. Maybe go with some generic 3D art and make this mid-effort interview into a colossal effort 1 hr long video. I'd definitely watch it, that's for sure. 😅

14:01 Mike the machines that emphasize the stretch like you mentioned are the STRIVE Strength Gym Equipment machines. Manufactured by Prime, in terms of machine construction along with the desirable translation of tension on the muscles. Best I’ve ever tried. You should do a series trying every brands “fundamentals” machines to truly see which ones feel the best and most ideal.

I really enjoy your videos and also you and the Wolf ranking things. But in this video it would help a lot to at least tell some brands that offer good equipment. So i can use it for selecting my gym.

Actually, the Cybex VR2 Tricep extension has a backpad that locks you in super well, corrects basically all of the issues you guys mentioned with that type of machine!

MTS High Row by Hammer is easily one of the top 3 back machines I've used. Pre fatigue your pecs first

I think a lot of companies make machines that make the movement easier where it is mechanically harder so that it “feels” better to use and allows men to use more weight because it’s heaviest towards the end range of the movement which I’m SURE influences which machine they use lol.

Came to the comments to say pictures or videos of the machines would have been nice but i see many have already said the same!

Video #129482 of Dr. Mike and Dr. Wolf obsessing over the stretched position. If I rank the reasons I watch this channel... S-tier: Dr. Mike is hilarious. F-tier: The monotony of the stretched position dominating every discussion.

I tore my hamstring and it didn’t heal right, but I can work pretty much all other parts of my leg with the isolated machines so I love them for that option. I much rather be in good condition and be able to do 1 or maybe even 2 exercises for my legs would be awesome. Because for years I couldn’t even do Bodyweight squats without limping out of the gym 5 minutes later

Looking forward to watching this! I’m curious to hear your thoughts..I usually focus on dumbbells /barbell since I always feel the most mind muscle connection without machines on most exercises

29:34 The gym I go to has a Nautilus Nitro tricep extensino machine with a back pad. It's the hardest in the stretched position and gets easier as you contract. I love that thing!

You can't really generalize across 'leg press' or 'seated row machine' because the different models of leg press and seated rows are so drastically different in leverages, tension curve, movement pattern and general mechanical design. It's like saying: "What's better - a Ford or a Toyota?" Well, which Ford? Which Toyota?

I want Dr. Mike to rate my sportsroyals all in one functional... It's solid D tier even factoring in cheap cost. The video he would make would be comedy gold.

Totally disagree about unilateral exercises, especially for back training. I absolutely love unilateral rows and even sometimes do one arm lat pulldowns where I sit on the floor instead of the seat to get an even better stretch. I get a much better mind muscle connection with one arm back movements and my back thickness and width have improved significantly since implementing them. I think they don’t like them because it takes longer but that’s crazy to me. I’m trying to make the most out of my time in the gym and if it takes longer to do an exercise but I get a better stimulus from it, then I don’t mind taking the extra time

i definitely agree. to be able to do back work without locked shoulder blades is very important for growth and also for maintaining mobility...

If the stretch is as important as it sounds, wouldn't a row / back exercise analogous to the cable cross over be about best?

My gym recently got a Rogers Fitness power squat pro, which I think has to be the best squat machine out there. Two load points, one easiest at the contraction and vice versa so you can tune your force curve. Extremely comfortable, as stable as possible, I've been milking it and DOMS for days. I highly recommend you look into that while looking for your Pit Shark, like you're gonna read this

I much prefer the strict pullups that Mike has taught us to do versus the pulldown. I have never been able to feel my lats in a pulldown.

As someone who's hype mobile the pec Dec works incredible for rear delts, though that probably only applies to a few people, I just have a large amount of mobility in the exercise allowing a good stretch
@tmiller12051Күн бұрын
I wonder if there’s risk/legal reasons why people don’t build loaded stretch biased machines. Like rubber bands, muscles are most likely to tear at a stretch, and the uninitiated who lift too much and drop the weight into the stretch (most public gym goers), would snap their muscles so fast

Interested to hear more about the isokinetic back extension machine, but having said that, I think they missed the point of the back extension machine as a short range exercise. The exercises that Mike mentions don’t really work the lower back through a full range (with articulation of the spinal joints) the way the BE does.
