A possible answer as to why the bell is recorded but the evil teddy is practical may be because the bell is hanging from wires while the teddy is static mounted on the back of the chair. Rigging the bell to both freely float and be stable enough to ring on cue may have been a puzzle the imagineers didn’t feel was worth the time to solve given their timeline and the amount of effects they had to complete.

There is one effect you didn't discuss from the Mansion, but it's easy to forget (as it's more paintings with yet another subtle shift in how they're done): in the ballroom, you didn't talk about the dueling ghosts and the turning-to-fire effect. There's so many painting effects in the Mansion! You do great pieces on the Mansion and I enjoy 'em. As a long-time Mansion aficionado who's now no longer anywhere near one of the parks physically, I can still enjoy my favorite attraction from my own regions beyond. Thank you!

Genie+ is Iger’s genius idea to squeeze profit out of guests. They put in a very tiny investment for computers and servers w/ only a little bit of cost to maintain the computers and guests pay their own phone bills to get the data. The purchase of Genie+ is pure profit. The purchase of lightning lane tickets for specific attractions is also pure profits. They make more on busy days because they use surge pricing just like Uber and Lyft. It’s going to back fire tho. Disney makes the majority of their profit off return guests. First time guests make you a small portion of the number of guests. First time guests may come but it will truly be their “once in a life time trip”. They wont come back because it was too expensive. Return guests just won’t come back. I have only been once since the masking and visiting rules were rescinded after the pandemic. My daughter is a cast member. I usually go once or twice a year to visit and 3 or 4 days at Disney was always part of our trip. Did we buy Genie+? Yes but never again. It cost me $60 bucks a day. Not worth it. The only thing I found worth it was the $15 for Rise of the Resistance. I would have paid it again to ride the ride a second time. Going thru the room with the AT-ATs was amazing. My daughter was grinning ear to ear because she knew how I was going to react. It should be noted that I saw Star Wars in Theater at 13. I’m going to Orlando in a few weeks. We have no plans to go to Disney. Oh and I am a member of the Disney Vacation Club so I could stay on property for close to nothing. I’m not. I’save it for a cruise or Adventures by Disney.
@krab179110 ай бұрын
The camels in Frontierland aren’t on a timer. There is person inside. If you notice, they sometimes aim for certain people, especially attractive young women. Also, people who voice that they hope they don’t get hit by the water. How do I know? My daughter is a cast member and knows someone who worked there. She almost always gets the water aimed at her. I would expect that the camels have the option of putting them on a timer, this save Disney on staff cost but before the pandemic they had staff in the camels.

The first effect with the glowing attic orb, that is no longer present for classic haunted mansion and is now only used during haunted mansion holiday as Zeros since he has a glowing nose as he is flying inside the attic. I see the orb every year during holiday Ghost Horse: still winnies at disneyland, Ive heard it .

@STSGuitar1611 ай бұрын
There are maps of the ride layout if you google it, and they definitely are interesting to take a look at. Makes you realize how big of a ride it truly is! As far as the mansion facades themselves go, the only things located inside the actual mansion that you see are the stretching rooms. After the stretching rooms, you enter a much larger show building (which is hidden from view from the outside) that contains the ride itself. At Disneyland, the stretching rooms are actually an elevator that brings you down to a lower level underground where the show building that contains the full ride is located. However, the stretching rooms at Magic Kingdom actually don't move you to a lower level at all and just have the ceiling moving up instead, after which you just enter a well-camouflaged show building that is very difficult to notice from the outside because of how hidden it is (they even use their own specific paint color called, "Go Away Green" to help hide the show building amongst the natural foliage, which makes it very hard to spot unless you know what to look for). The mansions that you see really aren't all that big; certainly not big enough to contain much of the attraction at all. Hope that helps!

I honestly had no idea that the eyes corner was a kinetic effect. I’ve rode past it thrice in my life, surely, one in recent memory. I’ve always assumed it was just… a wall. I commented on your video about Hatbox being in front of that effect and I expressed this apparently erroneous assumption. By the way, I was fortunate enough to be on the Mansion, in the graveyard scene specifically, when it got stopped for whatever reason. It was down for a good five minutes. Another great Offhand video! It’s great work you do over here and I hope you get recognized for it.

I have to correct you on the endless hallway at Walt Disney World. The Scrim is BETWEEN the candelabra and the mirror. The Candelabra is on a stick… an arm that extends through a small hole in the mirror and the scrim. The effect is that the infinite hallway looks shrouded in shadow, but the candelabra is well lit and has clear definition and color. (We snuck in at like 3 AM one night during totally Minnie rehearsals. So Cool!)

Some trivia about the stretching room and changing portrait corridor. The thunder isn't just for show, at least in Disneyland. In the stretching room, it disguises the sound of the elevator hitting the bottom of the shaft, and in the portrait hall, it disguises the sound of the trains passing overhead. Disney World just does it for consistency.

Absolutely loved it! Thanks a million! According to the the Story and Song from the Haunted Mansion, the "dark void" as you called it, is supposed to represent limbo, a "limbo of boundless mist and decay" . As far as the table rapping goes, old séances used to use a rapping device that is very simple to create rapping noises. I feel the effect is practical as an homage to these old tricks, and because it is much simpler than having a bell that rings on cue.
