Fun story! My friends and I would call the Epcot phone booths for fun sometimes to see who would pick up. And one day some kids who were there for their hs marching band picked up the phone. They were performing in a parade and happened to compete in the same circuit my HS marching band did (southern California). Once we found out what school they went to, we ended up meeting in person the next year at a competition

I highly doubt the whole "Andy's Coming!" thing ever actually happened. The few photos I've seen all look like the park was deserted, probably not yet opened, and that it was just the Characters having a goof with their fellow CMs. I say this for three reasons. 1. The ground is HARD, not something you want to just fall down onto randomly. The liability if you got hurt isn't something Disney wants to deal with. 2. Are you really going to risk ripping your costume, midway through your shift? Or scuffing up that Woody head by falling on concrete? Not if you like having a paycheck. 3. It's very hard to see in those costumes and kids are unpredictable. You just never know when a little kid is going to run up to you out of your view range. Nobody wants to be the one responsible for falling on a four year old. It's just not safe to intentionally fall down like that.

@@themisfitowl2595 Honestly that's always been my hypothesis: that the photos were staged be it from CMs goofing around with each other or a guest asked the character handlers if they could take a silly picture, and some idiot on Reddit saw this and made up the entire story on the spot - and because apparently no one learned their lesson from Arthur that people do indeed lie on the internet, they just ran with the story. Not to mention what also most likely happened, a bunch of people dogpiled onto the story claiming "'Andy's coming' is a totally real thing! I saw it happen!" or variants of that claim.

Hello, I’m the original poster of the iceberg (figmentfan1982) and I’m going to share the info that was misinterpreted/not known about in the video. Snow White Dies: This refers to the ending of the opening day Snow White’s Scary Adventures at WDW in which the she is crushed by a giant diamond by the wicked witch. Madame Leota Real Seance: A rumor that the spell book used in the Madame Leota scene was a real cursed artifact. Lost Muppet Vision Preshow: A cancelled addition to the 2009 refurbishment. This was directed by David Gumbel during November 2008, but this was not included when the refurbishment debuted. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Leak: Refers to an actual leak that happened in the water. Disney Cemetery: Refers to a rumor of a hidden cemetery inside of the parks (think the frozen walt thing but with the deceased) Everything else was correct. Also it was pretty cool to have my work featured in one of Offhand’s videos, so thanks for that! Also Lafitte Sandals.

"Snow White dies" is actually a reference to WDW's nightmarish Snow White dark ride from 1971, in which riders were made to assume the perspective of Snow White herself. At the very end of the ride, the Witch appeared in the gem vault of the Dwarfs' mine, dislodging a giant emerald onto riders from above in the style of the boulder scene from the film. This was followed by a series of strobe lights and starburst patterns in the dark, implying that the Witch succeeded in killing "you," or Snow White.

@@jaeeun5803 I never went on that ride as a child because I saw the word "Scary" in it, and being terrified of The Haunted Mansion and shaken by Pinocchio's Daring Journey, I wanted nothing to do with a scary Snow White ride! I rode it for the first time back when I visited Disneyland in March 2018, and imho as a then 30-year-old, it was still pretty unnerving! Not terrifying as I'm sure I would've found it as a 3-year-old, but I can understand why Disney chooses to point out that it might be too scary for younger guests! Quite a few of the animatronics in there still look pretty old (not like Opening Day of Disneyland old, more like 1983 Fantasyland re-opening old) and have the stiff movements of the pre-1964 Worlds Fair animatronics, and paired with the vacant stares and dead eyes... even that was enough to give me the willies!

Along with Alien Encounter, the scariest attraction in Disney history. When I take over Disney, WDW is definitely getting Snow White's Scary Adventures back in some form and it may just be the original one complete with the witch shrieking "Goodbye Dearie!" as she drops the emerald on you. Disney needs more dark and macabre attractions that terrify kids. That's why Halloween is the best holiday. Also thank god for Claude Coats designing such a great attraction and you Haunted Mansion fans should be glad that Marc Davis' whimsical mansion designs won out over Coats. Snow White was his consolation prize.

That warms my heart 💙💜 pre-covid, I volunteered at the animal shelter for long-boarding cats, just spending time and giving attention to the fuzzbutts, clean litter trays/their "cages" that weren't cages but clear enclosures with cat trees and places for them to "hide" etc. It's a wonderful shelter/boarding place and the owners really appreciate the kitties getting attention (also volunteers to walk the doggos, play with them, etc, but I'm a little scared of dogs I don't know. Nothing about specific dog breeds, I loved my Pit/lab mix, chihuahuas are evil though 😂)

They actually have a specific code for it, because you're _not allowed to do that_ and discovering ashes will prompt them to call in someone with a very fine handheld vacuum cleaner to come and dispose of the ashes. 3:55 mansion maid here - we don’t wait till third shift to vaacum up “code a”s. the second they’re spotted, we have to cycle out the ride, dump the queue, and mansion goes down while we wait for custodial to come and clear the code a. It usually causes mansion to go down for at least an hour, so PLEASE don’t dump your loved ones’ ashes - not only will they just end up in the dumpster, but it causes the ride to go down and impacts everyone else’s parks experience as well.

club 33 is so crazy to me because i didn’t realize how ~exclusive~ it was until my adult life - my mom worked at a really nice law firm in downtown LA and they had a perk where you (and your children i guess) could get into the park for free so long as you pay for the club 33 meal and me, being like 5-8 years old, did not care about the food at ALL so all i remember having there was tortellini, shirley temples, and goodies from a chocolate fondue fountain… lol what a waste

In college, one of my friends was a server and said the people were often nice, but when guests were rude, they were beyond typical annoying...and she had to be nice to them no matter what. She ended up leaving the position after too many rich guests felt entitled to treat her like trash. (This was decades ago, though, so things may have changed. Hopefully, the guests are better now.)

I got obsessed with the Disney parks around 2008 when I came across a Wikipedia article titled, “list of incidents at Disney park.” It lists every horrible thing that has ever happened (except for the time I threw up in a garbage can at the age of six after being tricked into going on thunder mountain). This article tickled my morbid fascination but also showed me that this place was a real working city where life (and death) happened. There is just different people choosing to exist in this community every day. And if you look at it like that, the fact that you can actually list every major crime or incident that has occurred in multiple locations across the world, around so many heavy, moving, industrial pieces, over 66 years, on Wikipedia page, shows how safe these places really are.

I worked Haunted Mansion Disney World. So we know when ashes are thrown because they glow in the dark under the Mansion's lighting (due to the bone fragments). A cast member is at unload and hears screaming and wailing. As the buggie comes in, the cast member sees that the guests in the buggie covered in glow in the dark powder. The guest had tried to throw their loved ones ashes into the ballroom... and the ashes bounced off the glass right back onto them.. covering the guests in the ashes of their loved ones. A true sh!tshow. Also disney closes the rides and has maintenance come in with hazmat suits and special vacuums... if you throw your loved one in the Mansion, your loved one ends up in a landfill.

15:00 & 16:20 So just to elaborate, many security camera systems recycle the VHS tapes they used to record footage, eventually these tapes become so worn that they produce ghost images after being re-recorded on top of old footage hundreds upon thousands of times. There's a few different pieces of footage of "ghost" guests walking through the park, the reason the paths they take line up so well is because it's literally just old footage underneath the footage you're looking at.

So fun fact about the “Andy’s coming!” Trick: I used to be a character attendant and witnessed one of the last times it happened. The performer in in the woody outfit actually knocked the back of the mascot head against a garden edge and it caused pretty significant damage to the back of it. A park wide memo was sent out by the end of the day outright barring it under the threat of termination. Which was easy to avoid except when the train conductor was telling his whole train to say it.

"why is a roller coaster there": I've always found it odd how often Disney makes reference to traditional coaster-centric amusement parks even though their parks AREN'T traditional coaster-centric amusement parks. Even Paradise/Pixar Pier at California Adventure, and the Boardwalk resort at WDW, and (sort of) Dino-Rama are sort of thematic references to an old-fashioned boardwalk park or carnival without actually *being* one. California Screamin'/Incredicoaster isn't a traditional wooden coaster, but it has the theme of a traditional wooden coaster. It's as if on some level they're pushing against the fact that Walt Disney specifically never wanted to make one of those.

Don't know if anyone has said this already, but the "Snow White Dies" part I feel like more refers to the original version of Snow White's Scary Adventure at Magic Kingdom. At the end, the witch is seen leveraging a huge gem above your head, then you enter the next room which is filled with starbursts and flashing lights, implying that you've been hit and KILLED by the falling gem. Then the ride is over.

Back when I visited Disneyland in the summer of 2001 on a family vacation, I remember seeing an Atlantis Meet-and-Greet with Milo and Kida set up in front of the recently closed Submarine Voyage, right next to the escalator leading to the Tomorrowland Monorail, advertising an Atlantis-themed submarine ride! I was so excited for it because I really liked Atlantis: The Lost Empire (I still do!) and I wish I had had my picture taken with them to commemorate the moment and as future proof that the Atlantis sub ride was planned to be a thing at one point, because I was so disappointed when plans fell through because Atlantis wasn't considered a "box office smash"! An Atlantis ride would've been so awesome, and to be honest, I *still* would love an Atlantis ride of some sort added into Tomorrowland! The old Innoventions/Carousel of Progress/America Sings building is standing right there-- completely empty! They should do something Atlantis related with it! I don't know exactly what kind of ride could go there (the original submarine ride where you would've gotten attacked by the leviathans from the movie would've been pretty bomb), and I know it's never going to happen, but I think the Disney Company would be pretty surprised to discovered that the movie has garnered a cult following that would absolutely love to have an Atlantis ride!

Would love to note that when I used to work at DL Haunted Mansion, ashes didn't happen too often, typically 3-4 times a year (but sometimes 3-4 a week). Almost always we were able to tell it had happened shortly after the ashes were dropped as they don't look like regular dust and are actually kind of crystalized and shiny. So typically grandma was sucked up in a vacuum and into a biohazard bag within an hour or so of being placed in what someone thought was her final resting place.

I recall the tunnels on Tom Sawyer’s Island being much more extensive when I was younger. I think that some were closed over time. There was one that was a ‘secret’ entrance to Fort Wilderness, as well as quite a lot mid-island. I couldn’t even count the number of times I banged my head on the rocks in there. With the remodel of the Rivers of America for Galaxy’s Edge, I’m sure the tunnels are a mere shadow of what they once were.

The story I’d always heard growing up in So Cal was that Walt’s cryogenically frozen body was under the castle, not Pirates. Is the current story just a false rumor spread to throw people off from discovering his true location? Of course not, but it’s too compelling a story to just go away, no matter how false it is.

I remember hearing it was supposed boarded up inside one of the towers of the castle, supposedly to "explain" why the entrance to it was boarded up. I think the mundane reason was the castle works on perspective tricks to look big and the tower wasnt actually a big room.

I'm actually surprised the movie is hated by so many. Yet, as someone who lives in a country with no Disney-Parks in reach (next opportunity would be Paris), it was a unique insight and the movie itself was enjoyable. Weird, don't took itself to serious (Cat Flu as an example or the Bosch company is secretly ruling the world, for sure!) and with a few very creepy moments. I do think people hate it is partly because they visit the parks more often and do connect various different memories with it. It's a low budget indie movie, but I had a good time with it. Would love to see it covered here, but if this turns out to be a 25 minutes rant or so I don't think I would be on board.

When I think “Disneyland Graveyard,” the old Pioneer Cemetery that used to be behind Fort Wilderness on Tom Sawyer Island is the first thing that comes to mind. I’m pretty sure the graveyard didn’t survive the Galaxy’s Edge expansion. The American Sings death accident was so horrible. She wasn't just crushed to death. Essentially it was like a carousel, and would rotate. She fell between the gap and was dragged and crushed for two full shows. Her screams were heard and foe whatever reason people assumed it was part of the show?! And it wasn't realized until they noticed she wasn't there. She was a the host so she'd go up and introduce acts and I wish someone noticed before she was drug around the inside and horrifying crushed for 45 minutes slowly dying and having her bones broken as hwr body was rotated and grossly deformed into unnatural shapes. There used to be a Disney creepypasta video many years ago and I wish I can still find it, it's about Mr. Toads wild ride. I don't remember it all completely but the story goes that one person who was going to the ride was excited about it, while in the ride after passing the library at the beginning, when this person entered the room where there's a bunch of paintings on the sides and a couple chandeliers, instead of taking the usual left turn to enter the next room, the front wall that gives the illusion of a longer room suddenly opens and the person's car enters immediately dropping thr rider down like a rollercoaster and into literal hell, closing the doors behind too before anyone else saw. I remember it saying how terrifying the person was. Seeing many messed up things and way more flames than there was was on the actual ride. I think eventually the person entered a room leading on the side where the bricks open to another room on the room or just when you see the dragon in the rides hell. It's been a long time seeing that video because I watched it ar least twice one day before I went to Disneyland years ago. I've been trying to look for it but I can't find it anymore either.

Little Red lives on...the last time I saw her she was in front of an administration building near Animal Kingdom. We saw her during the 8 hour behind the scenes Disney tour. They took us to see stuff used in some of the parades at Animal Kingdom and pointed her out. Also you can get access to Central Shops. Backstage Magic $275 a person but on hold right now because of COVID) you get access to Central Shops - it says it right on their tour description. Looks like the tour is only 7 hours and you don't go to Hollywood Studios. We actually got to go into the maintenance garage for Tower of Terror. It was really cool.

If you want to spend forever in The Haunted Mansion the solution is simple: step 1- get cremated, step 2- have someone place your ashes in an urn that looks like a grave marker, step 3- place said urn amongst the grave markers in either the ride entrance cue or in the less crowded exit cue. If everything goes well and your loved one doesn’t get caught by a cast member or security then you’ve done it. Eventually your marker will become a normal fixture of the ride and as time goes on it’ll be less and less likely it gets discovered.

I was thinking why not outside in the pet cemetery dirt? The surrounding greenery will soak up any nutrients from your ashes, and you spend eternity with the good boys of the mansion. Mix it with some water in a souvenir cup and just quick dump it while the lines are really full but moving.

Kind of different George story: so we had been to wdw probably 10+ times, and at one point before a trip, I learned about the story of George the ghost. So fast forward to our trip, I tell my family the story and how you have to tell him good morning and goodnight, all that stuff. Well, my dad decided to ask a cast member in the queue about George, and apparently this guy didn’t know the story and calmly replied, “Oh, no sir, there are no ghosts here, you’re thinking of the Haunted Mansion.” Lol. We just left it at that. It was a good lil laugh for us.

"Tip of the iceberg" is a saying because icebergs float with 9/10ths of it under the surface of the water. You only see about 1/10th of the actual iceberg. The saying means you're only seeing a tiny part of a massive volume of something. It doesn't mean "this is basic knowledge". It became really popular with the Super Mario 64 iceberg, but now you can find almost any topic in the form of an iceberg explained. Basically it's a chart filled with facts and theories about a specific topic. The "tip of the iceberg" means common knowledge stuff that most people know. The deeper down the iceberg you go, the more obscure and creepy the facts & theories get.

That was the first time I'd heard that, and part of me wonders if that's where the rumour started? I worked at Disney (CA) from 2008-2009. During my time there, I was a busser for several different restaurants (Stagedoor Cafe, Riverbelle Terrace, French Market and Golden Horseshoe). During my time there, I learned of a rumor that the Golden Horseshoe was haunted. On the second level of the dining area at the restaurant, there's a door to a room opposite the stairs coming up to that level. Inside that room, there are some supplies, but a small door to another room attached to that. At my time there, I remember that room just playing host to some more supplies but apparently in the past it used to be a breakroom. Rumor is that an older third shift worker took a break there one night and passed away in his sleep and now haunts it. One night after park closing, myself and a few cast members went to investigate. After entering that first room, you had to duck a little bit to get into the second room (the door is pretty small from what I remember). As we were going into the second room, fell down and said that something tripped him. From there, panic started to ensure is everyone rushed out of that room. Everyone scrambled out of the old breakroom, into the supply room and out into the main restaurant. I was the last one out and as I was pulled the door close behind me, I swear I felt something pulling back to keep it open. That was the last time we ever visited that area after the park closed.
