I love Burnt Offerings so much! Its a great twist on the haunted house premise, a house that feeds on peoples life force to stay 'alive' lol love it. And the scene were the dad tries to drawn the kid in the pool its so uncomfortable and creepy.

I have just so loved watching your programs (which I have only stumbled on in the past few weeks) and certainly love Burnt Offerings and especially Rosemary’s Baby, but I’m also very intrigued by some of these Mexican movies that you refer to that I’ve never seen before. Familiar with Hammer films. I like your eclecticism, I like your thoughtful, but still kind of down to earth very human appreciation of these films and how you can like something and recognize it’s not great but still resonates with you because it’s cozy or it brings back nostalgic memories of seeing it as a kid, etc. And so kudos, great work !

Happy Halloween! Loved the video. I wanted to explain the pronunciation of Bathory you were uncertain about. The pronunciation you heard in that movie was the original Hungarian pronunciation, the hard “th” pronunciation more commonly used is the anglicized version used by English speakers. Her name was also actually Erzsebet, with the more common Elizabeth also being the anglicized version. I’m a huge spooky history nerd, so I could not resist explaining (or over explaining this). Hope it helps!

Fantastic video! I watched Fun Size on your recommendation and enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. I struggle with comedies in general but teen comedies in particular are challenging for me. For some reason Fun Size won me over and I'm glad I checked it out. The highlight of the month for me was a rewatch of The Lost Boys. First time watching the 4K and it looks amazing. It had been twenty years or so since the last time I saw it and I had a blast rewatching it. I also rewatched Hell Fest which was also a really good time.

I agree on alot of your points, HOWEVER, the Branagh Christie adaptations are def modernized to faults. They will have Poirot running and fighting, being an OCD personality rather than just extremely proper, as well as have characters who were white be portrayed by actors of color that would make no sense in the time period. I mean, if one were to care about source material and implications etc. They are more like alternative realities than historical pieces.

I am a complete Dark Shadows nerd and have all the 6 pre-Barnabas DVDs and the 26 follow up DVDs. So, it seems like you are unfamiliar with the backstory on Disturbing Behavior. This poor director got so screwed over by the studio. The original cut of the film not only makes much more sense and explains things better but it's just a much better film. The studio hacked it to bits and cut out major plot points and changed the ending. The original ending is in the extras on the Scream Factory and MVD disc copies and I'm sure is probably on KZbin as well. The original cut of this film does exist but the studio, for some reason, will not allow it to be released. I know the people at Scream Factory reached out and tried but with no luck. The director actually wants his cut of the film released. He is not happy with what the film is now. I personally like the film but it did always feel a bit rushed and I hate the ending. The original ending is so much better. I cannot stress that enough. There is a great video on this movie from Good Bad Flicks. I highly recommend checking that out if you have the time

I loved Godsend when it came out. I need to watch it again…it’s been years. Five Nights at Freddy’s was a big disappointment. Matthew Lillard was great though . But I’m biased when it comes to him. Disturbing Behavior was a staple of comfort horror when it came out. I recently bought it again to watch this October. I enjoyed Island of Terror. Haunted Mansion was good but I was hoping for more with that cast. I think the muppet version was better lol. The Convent is one I want for my collection. Really enjoyed totally killer. Haunting in Venice was good. Such an amazing cast. burnt offerings is great! The book offered a more in-depth detail about what was going on.
