I, unfortunately, was never into hero factory or Bionicle when they were around. But looking back, I so wish I’d expanded my collection into the realm of buildable figures. It’s a shame that they don’t make sets like these anymore. I hope they return to these waves in the future.

Tbh I'm not a massive fan of the Toxic Reapa revamp but that's only because they made him so lanky and tall. I liked that he was stumpier than the other villains and was just that much more nimble because of it.

I love these. Hero Factory was my jam when I was growing up. I am disappointed I didn’t get into it when it first came out but I did get into it for Breakout and Brain Attack. I wish I was into it for Savage Planet though.

Those are all great redesigns but what I don't like is that a lot of them look more human. Most of them are "buffed" in the same way, so they loose their unique characteristics and their machine look. The latter is in my opinion what made them cool in first place

Voltix got a lot more improved than just the armor. The cables got managed better, flowing together with the other shapes instead of going against. The clashing colors got their tones adjusted to blend in better with the dominant color scheme. The arms got lengthened to look less stubby and curves overall improved. Armor did the least for the build compared to color improvements, shape alignment and ratio fixing.

I don't remember that exact quote. I do remember one that was kinda scarred into my memory, though. It was from one of Greg Farshtey's books. IIRC, Surge was helplessly watching Core Hunter pretty much just die before his own eyes, screaming for him to help. All he said was: "I can't help you, and anyone who could was beaten by you or isn't even here..." I don't remember if that's his exact words or not, but it was such a chilling memory of my childhood...

I love the remake of dark phantom because growing up I always thought it was just a retexture of fire lord, it felt disappointing having them side by side and they look so similar. But I love the moc!!! I’ll definitely be taking inspiration to revamp mine

I really hope Lego one day returns to CCBS and take notes from the MOC community. Covering hero's backs so they look good from all sides and using more conventual Lego pieces in some different way. My dream theme would be for Godzilla (or Kaiju in case they include other famous franchises such as Gamera or Ultra Man). Biollante would defiantly be the highlight in whatever wave she's in. Although I wouldn't mind a return to Hero Factory, Bionicle, or even a new theme.

I did a remix of black phantom. Considering I had two of the same set, I combined them into one. He has a tail now, a large energy bow attached to his right arm, more armor reinforcements, and even hooves to give him a more demonic form. Wish I could share a pic, it’s massive. Easily the biggest figure I have.

Nah, Voltix was supposed to be full of bright colours, clashing colours, wires at the firefront! He's supposed to be like a messed up breaker box, like a fallen power line, like the worst case scenario of an electrical safety video from the 1960s. The spaghetti of landline, vcr, dvd, bluray, internet, cable, power, and five different games consoles behind your tv in 2006. Voltix is a brightly coloured mess and insane and really it's probably the electricty controlling him, not the other way around. Remake Voltix is a guy, powered up by electricity. Looks like a sane guy. Not a guy i look at and think "haywire". A competent villain, who fights competently and fairly strategically. Original Voltix is A Problem because he can't do that. Whatever he wants to do, he's got cables to deal with, he's got electricity frying his mind and he's going for more, and he sure can't control where that electricity goes either. He can point it at something and generally hope it works, he can thrash with his whip, but if that goes somewhere else, it's sure a problem for whoever is fighting him dealing with unexpected collateral damage and attacks from weird sides. He doesn't know exactly what he's doing, and thus neither do his enemies. I i haven't watched the show and it's been years since i played the unity game, this is just what i read from the set.

They are interesting redesigns... Dunno if they are better thought, I feel like they are too drastic to be "better version". There are interesting is the best descritption I can really say. Like... Toxic Reapa is... not that good? Core Hunter looks neat, Joltixx is also looking pretty good, XT4 is... transform mechanic is neat, but besides that it's worse design to me. Thornax is way too drastic and humanoid, While Jawblade... I like the arms but that's really it. Spltiface also looks pretty good. Black Phantom looks menacing but... for some reason I'm not that intimitaded by him as I am with his official design. And then there's Speeda Demon... it doesn't look good. It really does not. But that's just me and my nitpicks. Interesting ideas, but that's really it.
