Iemanjá is very similar to Kianda in Angola, Kianda is the godess of the sea and sh eis celebrated by the the fishermen in ilha de Luanda em Angola. In Brasil you also give gifts to the sea?

Let me explain a bit more about hinduism... • Indra deva- he is a god of rain, • Varuna deva- he is god of sky and water • Samudra deva- he is a king of oceans and • Ganga devi- she is a goddess of rivers and personification of river ganga • and there are many goddesses who resemble the different water bodies.

I think Lady Buddha Quan Âm also deserves to be on this list!! In Vietnam, she is considered the goddess of the sea, supporting seafarers. Although the origin of this goddess is from Indian Buddhism, in Vietnam we have variations and myths to suit Vietnamese folk beliefs!!

@@heiAMB Besides Theravada Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism also exists in parallel. Both are Indian Buddhism, dude!! When Buddhism was introduced to our country from Indian missionaries (around the beginning of the 1st century BC), Mahayana Buddhism had a stronger spread in our Vietnamese community, cuz in all aspects, Buddhism Mahayana is suitable to connect with the local beliefs of the Vietnamese people. And the truth is, any religion introduced to Vietnam is changed to suit local beliefs.

@@heiAMB one more for you, Actually, LadyBuddha Quan Âm in Buddhism is male, but when Buddhism was introduced from India to Vietnam, we created Avalokiteśvara ( original image ) with a female gender because at that time My country is a matriarchal country, with the concept that Buddha can also be a woman, why not?? and we still call her Lady Buddha Quan Âm to this day

That kind of gods belong to animism religions, like the japanese Shinto, which you are referring to. Those religions believe that most (if not all things) have gods or spirits governing them. Shinto alone I think is said to have 8 million, so that kind of video would take way too long

Tangaroa / Tagaroa also believed by the Austronesians, there is speculation with Indonesian word "Tenggara" which means Southeast that perhaps the word was refers to the Tangaroa diety. and in some source, Nyi Roro Kidul is just a subject to a higher diety "Kanjeng Ratu Kidul" the true queen of south Java sea, so Roro Kidul is just her henchwoman.

Talai : divinity of oceans Ukulan: god of lakes and sources Yayik khan: god of rivers Su Ana: the old spirit of water over the globe’s face before the extension of continents Su iyesi: other spirits related to a specific lake river etc In old western Oğuz culture : çay ninesi, which is an old woman living next to a specific lake, her spirit is relied to this lake and she is kind of owner and protectress of the lake and animals, she don’t really like people, especially those overusing lakes ressources or observing her lake too long. This legend is still alive among Turks and Azerbaijanis.
