Actually in Tanzer you must keep those orbs "alive" if you want the good ending: I think those orbs have kidnapped people inside and you must keep them(they're basically jump blocker you're not supposed to jump on them)...otherwise the ending will be like "Ok you win but there is no one alive to see that"

Great review! I have two suggestions for next videos (maybe about other platforms?) 1) Always mention the year of the release, as this makes a lot of difference. Development tools evolve considerably. 2) Use the black bars on the sides to always display the game title. This way you won't have to go back to check it if you forgot while was paying attention to the graphic and sound details

Probably someone mentioned it already. But there is also the megadrive port of cave story, officially acknowledge by the main site. Maybe it is not on the list because the game was never sold, it was always free, just like the original cave story. But it is a fantastic port of a fantastic game. _Man._ _Tanglewood._ I knew I loved this game dearly. First played it during the lockdown times- but I didn't realize quite how much of an impact it had on me until I got chills hearing the title screen theme here. There really _isn't_ another game like it on the platform, and there aren't a lot of games like it in general. What a beautiful journey that game is. I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of these games I haven't heard of- I thought I'd done a pretty good job keeping up with what's been going on with new Genesis/Megadrive titles, but there's SO much here for me to dig into. No Stone Protectors? For all watching Stone Protectors was released in 2022 by Piko in a special edition with all the tv show episodes on a DVD, its on steam also. I can beat Paprium using only jump kicks so i dont know what youre talking about when you say theres no other game that plays or has features like Paprium. I understand the adiction mechanic and the paths you choose, the big sprites and the cool soundtrack but cmon man...between stolen sprites and stages from other games, really bad enemy AI, enemies with 3 animations max, no real special attacks, theres is nothing special in Paprium. SOR 3 and 2 do it better. Yeah Metal Dragon is nothing special and the physical edition was really poor also. A manual with 2 pages talking about the game and the rest just names tanking people that backed up the project. Good video anyway, looking forward for the Ancient schmup, ZPF, Final Fight and the Real Bout Fatal Fury Special port that is being developed in Brasil.
@panos_sigma
@panos_sigma Жыл бұрын
Except from Paprium, I've played all of these new MD releases and for me Tanzer and Tanglewood are okayish and only Demons of Asteborg and Xenocrisis can be comparable with the old classics of the system. I don't consider Darius, Ultracore, Mad Stalker and other games from this list "modern", because they either are ports of old games or just cancelled old games which were given a second chance. The rest of the really new ones, are at best mediocre. The upcoming releases, such as Phantom Gear, ZPF and Irena Genesis, indeed seem really promising. I'm not optimistic about the fan made arcade ports for the Mega Drive though. All of them are made for fun or for first impressions and reactions and they all get abandoned real fast. I hope I'm wrong for most of them though. I only know Darius as a completed and succesful fan-made project so far.

Enjoyed the video my friend, nice work as always 💪. Lots of games in here I didn’t know about and some that look very cool and I plan to try. There’s one I didn’t see here and absolutely love called Omega Blast. It’s a caravan only 3min vertical shooter so it’s not a full game per se, it’s for playing for high score. Mega Drive exclusive and it’s free. But it’s sooo much fun and one of the best caravan levels I’ve ever played. We even did a competition for it a couple years ago and everyone loved it. It was in an older video of mine. I’d recommend trying it one day for fun. Warning yes it’s hard 😂

The game has 7 races by default, but it looks like there's room to expand up to 10 races. So, the question arises, what 10 *_Star Trek_* races would YOU add to such a romhack ? And what would your 4 party members be ??? Me personally, Imma say... 1. Male Aenarr / Female Betazoid (both Healers with Telepathy). 2. Male Human / Female Augment 3. Male Android / Female Borg. 4. Male Ferengi / Female Changling (both Rogue-like). 5. Male Klingon / Female Andorian (both Fighters). 6. Vulcan 7. Male Denobulan / Female Trill (both Scientists & Medics). 8. Male Cardassian / Female Bajoran 9. Male Nausicaan / Female Caitian 10. Male Gorn / Female Orion 11. Male Xindi Reptilian / Female Xindi Insectoid. Jeez, I cheated hard on that list to fit in extra species... Here's a non-cheated list: 1. Human 2. Android 3. Ferengi 4. Klingon 5. Andorian 6. Aenar 7. Vulcan 8. Betazoid 9. Changling 10. Borg Altho, my four party members would probably Android, Klingon, & Andorian to overpower everything with a Ferengi Rogue to haggle, pick locks, disable traps, & steal stuff :P

Although it is a proper adjective for unlicensed games, it has the connotation of something illegal, beyond licensing for use in a console. In short, when you talk about bootleg, you are talking pirate copies or games that use IPs without the consent of the owners. The term Unlicensed is the most used for games like those Taiwanese games and, technically, all the modern indies. And speaking of bootlegs, I think you shouldn’t have included those projects to “port” SotN and the others. I know, Darius started the same way, but I doubt it will be the case for any of these. Also, those guys are probably just using asset rip and pasting them together, some of Mega Cat games might be mediocre, but at least they tried to be original. And, yeah, I still think you’re a sellout for Paprium. Way too high on the list.

I think the reason people didn't get their game is because there was a link in the Watermelon email that took you to another page where you entered your address. I found this link years after I had already moved to another city and entered my new address. I received my copy of the game within a few weeks from entering my new address, so I'm pretty sure that obscured link is what tripped people up. It wasn't intuitive at all, and I could have just as easily missed it.

Nice selection, thanks! I love Tänzer because of its buttery smooth gameplay and extremely responsive controls. And you can actually buy it...unlike the cruel joke that is Paprium. Seriously, the kickstarter shows that Fonzie has learned nothing from the innitial release. By the time this will see a release that is available to everybody willing to pay people will pirate it just to show him where he can stick his business tactics...

I feel like Xeno Crisis belongs in the "Worst" pile. The game's difficulty is the "LOL! We made it hard because retro!" style, and punishes you for using so much as a single continue or playing the game on anything but the hardest level, basically forcing you to do a perfect run on max difficulty, if you wanna see the ending. I won't support a developer who does that.

I finished Brave Battle Saga recently, and while I liked my time with the game, I have some issues regarding the balancing, because most of the equip I bought have almost no change in how much damage I receive, and leveling up didn't help. Also, I don't recomend the Steam version that much because, for some reason, the code for level 99 doesn't work there (which is strange, because it's emulation). Sometimes, the game relies on too much fetch questing (when the MC fell sick, we had to ask for the help of the Goddess of Life, but she asked the group to recovered the captured fairies, the guy who captured the fairies asked for help to lift his curse, and to lift his curse we need to get and specific item on a mountain, and we only know about the item when we talked with the goddess about the guy's curse), and despite the game being straightforward, the navigation on some points are a absolute nightmare. I needed to get this out of my chest since I finished the game. Anyway, nice video, although Insane Pain, a fighting game released in december (I think) isn't in the video. The rom is available for free, but the devs are also selling physical copies of the game. I played a lot of the games on this video, and it's fantastic how, since the advent of the SGDK, it's easier to make a Mega Drive game, but kudos to the guys before that time that were able to do something for our beloved 16-bit machine.

@@st1ka The funny thing about brave battle saga... Is that there's a NES bootleg port. It doesn't recreate the game in a 1 by 1 scale (they omitted the intro scene with Lucia and his dad) and I will give it a try to see any differences.
