"Every Morning"? Sugar Ray's "Every Morning" came out so long ago that you're pretty sure you first heard it on a phonograph in the rubble outside of Dresden.

If it's any consolation, it'll feel like your current age was only a couple of years ago when you hit 40. Wait, that's the opposite of consolation. Shit.

The days my shoulders aren't crying out in pain should be joyous days. But the long shadow of knee pain casts a darkness upon them so that the brief ray of light is snuffed out as soon as it is seen. Hope is gone and my days are suffering... #37isheaven

The flesh is an overcomplicated and flawed machine. But nonetheless, it is still a machine, and machines are to be maintained accordingly, and repaired when they inevitably break. That's my positive outlook on ageing: it is an impetus to forward the frontier of maintaining the fanciest machines known to man. If a thing is broken, it must be fixed. If fixing a thing requires replacement parts, then may the human machine be more obviously a Ship of Theseus. Our body is always gradually replacing the microparts that make up the larger parts, and thus is already a Ship of Theseus. Even as old parts are exchanged for new, you are still, at heart, always you.
