I would argue the Jame Harrison pick 6 coast to coast before half time was far unluckier for Arizona, especially because Larry Fitzgerald ran Harrison down, but a team mate on the sideline got in the way to stop Larry from finishing the play. That would have been the margin of victory.

Agree. Giving up a late touchdown drive is unfortunate, but that happens a lot. The pick-6 to end the half was much worse.

@@nedruss7040 - More specifically, this video is about UNLUCKY. Watch the mini doc about that play and how Larry Fitzgerald was interfered with by his own teammate on the sideline that could have prevented it with his raw effort. Holmes making a toe tap grab isn't "unlucky," it was skill by him and Big Ben, but the Pick 6 going coast to coast was a combination of unlucky events.

Seahawks fan take - the pass at the end of 49 was the *worst* play, but the *unluckiest* was Jermaine Kearse dropping a third down dime in the 4th quarter of that game that would have basically ended the game before the Pats came back.

Jesse James scored. Two distinct motions - he completes the catch, and his knees are on the ground, thus making him a runner. He then extends the ball into the end zone. Cheatriots got away with another one.

9 teams - Ravens, Jaguars, Seahawks, Panthers, Falcons, Jets, Chiefs, Steelers, & Chargers - had their "unluckiest play" against the Patriots. 4 teams - Cardinals, Bengals, Colts, & Raiders - had theirs against the Steelers. Of those 13 plays, only the Immaculate Reception was before the turn of the century.

Jags play would have been down by contact. Also, there's a difference between one team's best play and another team's worst play. The Holmes catch wasn't the Cardinals worst play. The Edelman catch wasn't the Falcons' worst play. They were simply good plays by the other team.

Nothing "unlucky" about "The Tackle". It has that nickname for a reason. The defender made an amazing tackle before the goal line. Skill helped him, not the receivers "bad luck". Mike Jones also made a wonderful read. His job on the play was to cover a completely different person. He read that McNair was gonna throw to Dyson and adjusted just in the nick of time to make the tackle.

The Redskins' most unlucky play took place in SuperBowl VII, when Billy Kilmer had Jerry Smith wide open in the endzone, but his pass hit the crossbar. The next pass was intercepted by Jake Scott and ran back 50 yards in a 14-7 game.

Cardinals should be the Harrison return. The odds of getting picked off at the goal line, and having a linebacker break ALL those tackles resulting in a 14 point swing are much steeper than the Santonio catch on 2nd down. Without Harrison, the Cards lead at half and force the pedestrian Steelers offense to cobble together more than just one drive

While they always point to the Malcolm Butler play in the Super Bowl as the Seahawks worst, I'm not sure it's the unluckiest. I think clearly the Vinny Testeverde touchdown where he was clearly down on the one and put the ball into the end zone well after the play was over to keep the Seahawks out of the playoffs in 1998, the play that brought back instant replay, has to be here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXnXZpWOZrarhposi=cWpiaw-Uw7ZU4yM2&t=150

There is a lot of ways the NFL can manipulate games to help certain teams, especially the ones with the biggest superstars advance. They could call certain fouls at the right time, not call a foul, use subjective calls to help a certain team, find an obscure rule like the tuck rule an use it at the right time to give a team another chance, or let a touchdown pass after the whistle stand. Both of the last two scenarios were called on the Raiders. The NFL could doctor the kicking balls with counter weights to make them hook to the right or left, or make them heavier so they don't fly as far, like when the Rams were playing Tom Brady's Bucs a couple of years ago when the Rams kicker could not kick a field goal of 47 yards in a game, or they could fill a kicking ball with helium so it flies farther, when the Ravens made that 66 yard field goal to beat the Lions a couple of years ago. Tom Brady advanced to a Superbowl when the Ravens kicker shanked a short field goal, and Mahomes advanced last year when the Bills did the same. I say the NFL steers the games to make sure the superstars advance for ratings...that's why the Patriots were so lucky when Brady played with them, just like Kansas City always seems to get all the luck today...expect the Chiefs to be the new "luckiest team in the NFL" until Mahomes gets traded or retires...

Anyone saying that the Minneapolis Miracle should be on here doesn't understand the pure insanity that occurred on that play for the Saints. A triple lateral touchdown to potentially send a game to overtime, only to have an otherwise lights-out kicker miss a chip shot extra point as time expires is so much worse than a missed PI call.

The two plays I think would’ve worked better are Aiyuk catching a pass that bounced off the Lions player’s helmet and the Calvin Johnson game-winning touchdown against the Bears that was called incomplete because he “didn’t complete the process of the catch.”
@astros7242
@astros7242 2 ай бұрын
@@nathanrodriguez8125 I think both of those would have been much better. Also I haven’t gone back (since it happened) and watched to see if I was just biased or not. But wasn’t there a play against the cowboys in their playoff game where a bad pass interference call was made? Basically cost them the game? This was 2014-2015 season. I remember because I felt like it was a curse. Cowboys benefited then played packers and got screwed on the Dez catch - no catch thing. Then the packers lose to the Seahawks in bizarre fashion (including the onside kick shown in this video) then Seahawks pass the ball on the goalline. (Also in this video). But to be honest what I am not sure about was it really a terrible call? Or was I just biased as hell going for the lions because I hate the cowboys. It’s very possible I was just biased because not many people bring it up anymore.
@nathanrodriguez8125
@nathanrodriguez8125 2 ай бұрын
@@astros7242 ah yes, that play. It wasn’t that a bad pass interference was called, but that one was called then inexplicably picked up. The Lions threw an incomplete pass on a 3rd down while leading 20-17 in their game against the Cowboys, and the refs threw a flag for pass interference on the Cowboys as the defender never looked for the ball and grabbed the Lions receiver to prevent the catch. However, after the penalty was announced, the refs picked up the flag, so instead of keeping the drive alive, the Lions were forced to punt, leading to the Cowboys scoring the game-winning touchdown. As you mentioned, the Cowboys would lose the next week to the Packers in part due to the Dez Bryant catch that was ruled incomplete due to the rules of the time, then the Packers blew a 16 point lead in the NFC Championship Game to the Seahawks, who then lost the Super Bowl to the Patriots because they threw on the 1 yard line and had Malcom Butler intercept the pass.

@@nathanrodriguez8125 lol my bad I was giving you a thumbs up and accidentally thumbs down at first (now corrected) not sure though what your notification says. Either way ah yes you are right! And I remember now. My memory is a little faulty (then again it was 10 years ago lol). But yes it was the other way around a bad non call. And it sure did seem to be the curse that kept on giving lol! I never forget the game in general (even if I forgot the circumstances) only because it’s rare to find a situation where one team losing in unfortunate circumstances directly leads to every team after that in a chain losing in bizarre all the way up to and including the championship game. That goes for any sport. The funny thing for me was - I actually issued a curse Texas A&M this year after they beat my team (Nebraska) I really thought this would be our first ever tournament win. Well after I cursed them they lost to Houston who lost to Duke who lost to NC State, who lost Purdue who lost to UConn, it made me think of the 2014 all over again lol. In college basketball I feel like my team is kinda like the Lions in the NFL lol.

That said, WOW, the Patriots are EASILY the LUCKIEST team in recent history. SO MANY calls went their way. Let's not forget their entire dynasty began with the Tuck Rule. It just so happens that the Raiders have been snake bitten quite frequently, hence, The Immaculate Reception. Otherwise, about a QUARTER of these games (32 teams) came down to the Patriots winning on either a freak play or a bad call. Am I sour? At this point, not really. @ClassicJukeboxBand Two things: One, your foil hat is showing and Two, I don't know about conspiracies, but I did find it slightly annoying that I saw Taylor Swift, who is dating a Chiefs star, three times before the kickoff of the AFC Divisional Round playoff game INCLUDING during the previous game, as if she was literally the reason to watch the next game (I didn't see Mahomes or Kelce at all during that previous game, by comparison). I'm not a big "theorist," but I certainly found that to be more than a little odd (and, again, annoying-because I don't care who someone is dating, I care about football). ...perhaps my foil hat is starting to show as well...

@@tritonogletree2806 So don't question those liars. I don't care if you believe me. What I''m telling you is real to some extent. If Mahomes plays in 5-6 more superbowls, this will prove I'm correct and I'm predicting this now. I know he will because the NFL will make sure of it. Of course, since you don't have the capacity to question, you will still think it's all real.. you can't fix closed minded...stay that way pal...

19:34 Are you seriously telling me that some nothing week 3 game in 2021, has a more unlucky losing play for the Lions who were LITERALLY just in the NFC Championship, and didn't convert on 4th down to keep their hopes alive when the ball was IN THE RECEIVER'S HANDS?!? You know that was their first NFC Championship game in like 35 years, right? Whoever made this video is fired... you are bad at being a fan of football.

@@mattbrendlen I didn’t make it that because losing a game isn’t a play. But losing because the other team achieved the longest field goal ever AND it was a doink is far unluckier than losing a game.
@mattbrendlen

@@Buffaloproductions17 So you're saying that the Brandon Aiyuk helmet bounce catch... the failure to convert TWICE on 4th down... The Jahmyr Gibbs fumble... Purdy escaping a sack and throwing to Juice to convert... all of these plays that didn't go the Lion's way, and most likely cost them a trip to their first Super Bowl EVER... you're saying that given the choice between any one of those plays, and the Week 3 field goal, they'd pick the field goal to miss? Hmm... care to make a bet on that?
@Buffaloproductions17

@@mattbrendlen yes I would say that the field goal is unluckier than that because those are just mistakes that could have been prevented if they just simply played better lol. The lions can’t control how good a kicker is man
@mattbrendlen

@@Buffaloproductions17 I'd say an unluckier event is one that you have some modicum of control over... like say, for example your own player fumbling a football... or a receiver getting a pass in his chest, but failing to come down with it (both of which happened to the Lions in the NFC Championship). It's okay to just say, "Yeah... I guess maybe I should've put the NFC Championship game in there" instead of defending your demonstrably bad take... Because where are you getting your data from? This video is called "Every NFL Team's Unluckiest Play of All Time!" which, first off all, that's a pretty bold statement. Second, says who? You? Okay... why are you the authority on that? Why not see what the Lion's fans in the comments have to say? It just seems like you really wanted to post this kick SOMEWHERE, but couldn't figure out where...

See, that's why I'm gonna stop watching this video. The Seahawks' clip wasn't unlucky, it was a bad call, which has nothing to do with luck. Just like the cardinals' clip, was it unlucky for the cardinals or very talented by the steelers? Change the title to unfortunate if anything

I actually don't agree with the Gary Anderson missed kick for the Vikings. That wasn't bad luck, that was just a choke, pure and simple. I would have to say that the Vikings truly unluckiest play of all time was that insane Antonio Freeman catch for a game-winning touchdown.

it's really poor form to type out what is going to happen with each play---even if we watched them LIVE, let us SEE THE PLAY not give spoilers with every one. Yes we know it will be bad for one team. It's silly to announce it--why bother showing the video at all, just make a list, show a Google Doc.
