Chiefs trade for Montana was a success for the team. They almost got to the Super Bowl his first year and he brought legitimacy to the franchise, and helped kick start the regular season dominance for the rest of the decade. Honestly if Santonio Holmes was our worst trade then I’m pretty confident that we actually don’t do terrible trades. Holmes unfortunately never lived up to his full potential and was out of NY after 4 seasons; 12 games played in 2010, fully healthy in 2011, 4 games played in 2012, 11 games played in 2013. That “terrible” trade was actually a successful one as we had traded that pick to the Cardinals in exchange for their 6th round pick who eventually turned out to be Antonio Brown.

@Christopher Bingham its not meaningless for the new coaches who want to see how their offence or defense will be before the regular season. Did a 15 year old compile this list- football did exist before 1995. There are some serious reaches for what constitutes a "bad" trade. Nobody would call the Joe Montana trade bad, he took a mediocre Chiefs team to the AFC Title Game and the playoffs both years. Santonio Holmes averaged 30 rec.and 440 yards in the 5 years after the Steelers traded him, how is Pittsburgh dumping him a BAD trade- he wasnt productive after the trade. I dont think anybody would say the Leonard Williams trade was bad either..... I could go on, but my points made.

John Hadl was the worst Green Bay Packer trade. In 1974, the 34-year-old Hadl was traded by the Los Angeles Rams to the Green Bay Packers for five draft picks-first and second round picks for 1975 and 1976, as well as a third round pick in 1975. Hadl was very good with the Chargers and the Rams...by the time he got to Green Bay, his best days were behind him. Hadl went 4-9 in 1975. The Packers were horrible until the 90s. The Rams were very solid in the late 70s thanks to Green Bay.

Alright the RG3 selection wasn’t a bad draft trade. He was great but because the Redskins had a terrible O-Line, RG3 got destroyed. Let's be fair about what happened to RGIII. He was playing with an injured knee in a playoff game, when he should have been on the sidelines. Mike Shanahan should have known better. Griffin got hurt even more seriously and was never the same player. This is on the coach and the team, not on the player being at fault for getting injured. And as far as "maybe he wanted to play", that is why the coach is there- to look at the situation and do what is best for the long term interests of the team, not just at winning a playoff game.

imagine you have a Mercedes, you trade it for a BMW, you then slash the tires, empty the oil out the engine and take it for a long drive destroying it, then saying you regret trading your Mercedes......... Thats the best analogy why I think having the RG3 "trade" on here is stupid

I think actually the Seahawks Worst trade trading frank "the shark" Clark to the chiefs for draft pick which end up L.J collier because frank Clark help Kansas city chiefs help the chiefs win first super bowl in 5 decades while L.J collier as been injuried and hasn't put the stats that frank Clark did.

Seriously? Clark's last 2 seasons were worse than the previous 3 in Seattle and he might not even see the field in 2021 if he ends up on the commissioner's exempt list due to his felony charge. It took a year, but they found a comparable replacement and smaller cap hit in Dunlap. This trade could be a lose/lose for both sides, but Seattle isn't giving $43m in guarantees to a DE that's averaging 7 sacks a season and off the field issues.

If you want to look at a bad trade for the Seahawks, look at what they gave up for Percy Harvin. 3 picks, including a 1st, for a guy that got 26 targets over 5 games in 2 years. Within two years of dealing him to the Jets (for a ham sandwich), he was out of the league.

Raiders trading 3rd and 5th round picks for Antonio Brown, who never play a down for them
