I was just getting ready to post something similar. He made KC much better, including one of the best games I remember going against John Elway and Denver in a back and forth game. I think we made it to the AFC finals, which is better then all but 3 other teams so we'll take that every time.

Chiefs trade for Montana was a success for the team. They almost got to the Super Bowl his first year and he brought legitimacy to the franchise, and helped kick start the regular season dominance for the rest of the decade. They didn't win in the post season for the rest of the decade after he left, but that was a successful trade for the Chiefs. A bad trade would be moving up to draft Ryan Sims.

Honestly if Santonio Holmes was our worst trade then I’m pretty confident that we actually don’t do terrible trades. Holmes unfortunately never lived up to his full potential and was out of NY after 4 seasons; 12 games played in 2010, fully healthy in 2011, 4 games played in 2012, 11 games played in 2013. That “terrible” trade was actually a successful one as we had traded that pick to the Cardinals in exchange for their 6th round pick who eventually turned out to be Antonio Brown.

@Christopher Bingham its not meaningless for the new coaches who want to see how their offence or defense will be before the regular season. Did a 15 year old compile this list- football did exist before 1995. There are some serious reaches for what constitutes a "bad" trade. Nobody would call the Joe Montana trade bad, he took a mediocre Chiefs team to the AFC Title Game and the playoffs both years. Santonio Holmes averaged 30 rec.and 440 yards in the 5 years after the Steelers traded him, how is Pittsburgh dumping him a BAD trade- he wasnt productive after the trade. I dont think anybody would say the Leonard Williams trade was bad either..... I could go on, but my points made.

John Hadl was the worst Green Bay Packer trade. In 1974, the 34-year-old Hadl was traded by the Los Angeles Rams to the Green Bay Packers for five draft picks-first and second round picks for 1975 and 1976, as well as a third round pick in 1975. Hadl was very good with the Chargers and the Rams...by the time he got to Green Bay, his best days were behind him. Hadl went 4-9 in 1975. The Packers were horrible until the 90s. The Rams were very solid in the late 70s thanks to Green Bay.

While it may not have worked out for the Redskins due to the injury I wouldn't let an injury be the reason to consider a trade bad. As a Washington fan, I think is a very underrated player my father quit playing him twice a year ago that day in my past okay I am keeping my bad knee injury and he got hurt and it got worse He helped KC to the AFC Championship for the first time since their Super Bowl 59 4th run. Every NFL team with a record that will never be broken flop in Washington. They screwed him by making him play with a very bad knee injury and he got hurt and it got worse They almost got to the Super Bowl his first year and he brought legitimacy to the franchise, and helped kickstart the regular season dominance for the rest of the decade. They didn't win in the postseason for the rest of the decade after he left, but that was a successful I am sad so like my dad's lifestyle backstory okay can tell somebody loves me in my family wait to see I was hiding about okay I want to trade replace really is I hope is missing and I can talk about okay let me know to help me fix it okay help me out here????????!!!!!!!!!!!

If Cal QB Joe Roth didn't die in Feb. 1977, the second pick would have been traded to a team that wanted him, not Dorsett. As a result, Tony would have probably went to Cincy with the third pick or the Jets with the fourth pick.

Alright the RG3 selection wasn’t a bad draft trade. He was great but because the Redskins had a terrible O-Line, RG3 got destroyed. Then during his recovery, they didn’t effectively bolster the O-Line or get much talent around him so RG3 was still forced to play at an elite talent while still injured. So of course he’s not going to reflect the trade value to get him.

Giants fans defending the Leo trade like the Jets didnt watch him have a pro bowl career year one time and then barely do anything else his entire time there. He balled out in a contract year, so did Mo Wilkerson. And plenty others. Let’s hold off until we see if he capitalizes on that year now that’s hes gotten paid. Leo is infamous for making you believe he can put it all together and be a stud, then you forget he’s on the field.

Pats: Brady or Gronk? Let's see... Trading the best and most dominated TE in the NFL history to the Lions and making him retire and losing this players for nothing in return. That was the worst trade (attempt). Not some 36 overall...Gronk is a goddamn HOF-player who had (and has) a huge impact on the game. Brady was not a trade but could be added here as abysmally bad front office decisions.

The Herschel Walker trade is not just the worst trade in Vikings history - it is VERY likely the worst trade in the history of professional sports.

Let's be fair about what happened to RGIII. He was playing with an injured knee in a playoff game, when he should have been on the sidelines. Mike Shanahan should have known better. Griffin got hurt even more seriously and was never the same player. This is on the coach and the team, not on the player being at fault for getting injured. And as far as "maybe he wanted to play", that is why the coach is there- to look at the situation and do what is best for the long term interests of the team, not just at winning a playoff game.

Can I just say as a Giants fan I don't think that Washington necessarily would have lost the trade if RG3 could stay healthy. We all saw him in his first season dude was a beast. I actually wanted him to do well it's a shame about what happened to him he would have been the next Michael Vick

The Leonard Williams trade was a good one for the Giants. He had 11.5 sacks last year…

The worst trade in Giants history had to be Sam Huff, not Leonard Williams. The Giants went from being perennial contenders to not even being able to make the playoffs for over 15 years.

imagine you have a Mercedes, you trade it for a BMW, you then slash the tires, empty the oil out the engine and take it for a long drive destroying it, then saying you regret trading your Mercedes......... Thats the best analogy why I think having the RG3 "trade" on here is stupid

I think actually the Seahawks Worst trade trading frank "the shark" Clark to the chiefs for draft pick which end up L.J collier because frank Clark help Kansas city chiefs help the chiefs win first super bowl in 5 decades while L.J collier as been injuried and hasn't put the stats that frank Clark did.

Seriously? Clark's last 2 seasons were worse than the previous 3 in Seattle and he might not even see the field in 2021 if he ends up on the commissioner's exempt list due to his felony charge. It took a year, but they found a comparable replacement and smaller cap hit in Dunlap. This trade could be a lose/lose for both sides, but Seattle isn't giving $43m in guarantees to a DE that's averaging 7 sacks a season and off the field issues.

If you want to look at a bad trade for the Seahawks, look at what they gave up for Percy Harvin. 3 picks, including a 1st, for a guy that got 26 targets over 5 games in 2 years. Within two years of dealing him to the Jets (for a ham sandwich), he was out of the league.
