“If you can’t afford gas you should just buy a $40,000 electric car” nailed it. People who say this are so out of touch
@PG-34622 жыл бұрын
Most people are buying massive 4x4 SUVs which consume tons of fuel, so the $40 000 electric car does make sense. However, the sales of big 4x4 SUVs and pickup trucks are increasing, so I guess we'll still hear people complain about gas prices in the next 30 years 🤷♂️
@karendinkel90402 жыл бұрын
Most people don’t buy cars they can afford, you’re right. But the point is still the same; if you can’t afford it you shouldn’t buy it. And to tell people to go and buy a car they can’t afford to fit an agenda is out of touch with reality
@PG-34622 жыл бұрын
@@karendinkel9040 The reality is that where I live (Eastern Canada), 9 out of the 10 best selling vehicles are big 4x4 SUVs which are all worth around $27 000 to $36 000 CAD. When taking into account gas prices, purchasing a Hyundai Kona or a Chevrolet Bolt for $32 000 (including the government subsidies we get in our province) with a roof box if more space is required is actually much cheaper. I'm pretty sure that the best sellers in the USA are also vehicles that consume tons of fuel and which are also not that much cheaper than most EVs. On the long run, EVs are in most cases better.
@PG-34622 жыл бұрын
@wyllie coyote That's actually not true, or it depends at least where you live. Where I live, 100% of our electricity comes from hydropower. However, even if it's not the case in your region, electric cars are still better for several reasons. 1) Electric cars are mostly charged off the consumption peak hours. Thus, most regions have at least some of their power produced from hydro, nuclear or wind power. The advantage with these 3 sources is that they have approximately the same output 24h/24 and currently, our electric system wastes the surpluses produced, most particularly during the night. This is a bit complex to explain in a KZbin comment, but in short, electric cars can allow a more efficient use of the total electricity produced by using all the wasted energy. 2) Even if 100% of your electricity comes from coal, power plants are still much more efficient than millions of individual petrol engines burning fuel. Not only that, but in power plants, there is less space and weight restrictions, meaning that much more efficient filters and catalytic converters are installed. Thus, relatively to all the millions of individual petrol cars, power plants are much cleaner as they burn fossil fuel more efficiently and the gases and particles released are better filtered. This is even more true when we know that most drivers drive big 4x4 SUVs and pickup trucks, which are even worse in terms of energy efficiency. And by the way, I'm pretty sure that most power plants in your region burn natural gas, not coal. Natural gas is by itself cleaner than the petrol burned by cars... Sorry if my english is bad, I'm from Québec in Canada
@RLang032 жыл бұрын
@wyllie coyote it 100% does not take more gas to generate electricity for an EV lmao. One gallon of gas has 33kwh of energy. A tesla battery is 75-100kwh depending on the model. So it would be equivalent to 2-4 gallons of gas for a full charge.

Dark 💀💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣
@peterrwagner32892 жыл бұрын
So... your kink is telling Tesla owners a fact that you think is a "gotcha" but really isn't? There isn't a single state in the United States where mile-for-mile it creates more pollution charging an EV from the grid than it does operating a gas vehicle. Even in West Virginia, the worst offender for using fossil fuels to generate electricity (over 92% coal), it's still cleaner mile-for-mile to charge an EV from the grid than operate a gas vehicle. Furthermore, EVs also pay back their manufacturing carbon debt over time, even when charged from the grid. Gas cars never do that, they only add to their carbon debt every second they operate.
@iNick902 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the best part about that is we don't have to pay gas :) We just pay our power company to burn the coal 😂

Hay, you’re not that much of an idiot if you can tell you were off/wrong about something! 😆

Ukrain only supplied 10% of fuel to US. The gas prices increased due to inflation by the printing of money.

Wow, nice ignorance you got going in there. The primary drive behind oil price increases is mainly the oil future speculators taking quotes and try to turn them around for a quick profit.
@MrSw7ndel2 жыл бұрын
@@guyman1570 so is that why once we become energy producers the cost of gas went down. Ok the shitty president in office now is the reason it went up. Futures are based on the amount of oil that is being pumped and shipped around the world, also it has to do with the projected use and weather. Don't get me wrong the oil companies are nickel and diming us every chance they get. The fact that we are no longer producing oil is the reason oil is so high. If you can't see that either you are dumb or blind. Or you have too much pride to say Trump was (for the economy and peace) the best president in history.

My first memory being aware of gas prices was when it was $0.75 a gallon. Now I'm just waiting for the reality of BTTF 2 to come to pass where a Pepsi is $50.

We’re probably similar ages because I remember that, too. I couldn’t believe it when gas went above a dollar. My dad was totally the extra gas cans guy. 🤦🏼♀️
