Great video man, I've been their mate its a nightmare especially when it continues from one job to the next, pin pointing where its from is a real pain, we had it at a shop for weeks i worked at, it would only happen on smaller jobs, if we sprayed bigger jobs it didn't happen, the boss spent thousands trying to eliminate it, ended up buy a new screw compressor and replacing all the pipe work around the workshop it turned out it was from the mixing cups, we used to use the 1/2 lt cardboard mixing cups on the smaller jobs then he had brought some cheaper drinking cups for us to use to save some money and it was coming from them, they had a waxy coating inside them 😂 the bigger jobs we used tins to mix the paint in 😂 Great lesson man have a blessed weekend mate 🙏

@@Oneinacrillion2000 thank you Nick I'm glad it was easily understood 😁 and yeah the issue you're having is because so much clear is built up on the run it's like having 10 coats of clear in one spot hence the reason of the color change. That sucks big time 😕

Apparently you and hundreds of other guys never knew about it. I'm actually surprised. I got a couple fish eyes in my base today. I dry sprayed the spots and then continued as normal. Did not have to sand it. I was taught the 1/4 trigger dry spray method. I have never used fish eye eliminator. I have heard it helps paint flow but its not a good idea. Since I spray in a booth that gets air from the roof I don't get contamination from the air. To be honest and with having many years under my belt with spraying, this looks more like "solvent pop" more than fisheyes.. Solvent pop occurs when you lay on the coat too wet and not give it enough time to flash off before applying the next coat. What happens is while the first coat is still flashing off the gases if another coat is placed on top, it traps those gases and they start to release through the last coat you laid (leaving like a pop look) and it looks exactly like what you have in this case.. To fix solvent pop is exactly the same as you would having fisheyes with having to wait for the paint to dry and then lay on a dry coat first followed up with wetter coat making sure the last coat is tacky before applying the next coat..

I’m a firm believer when using singles stage paint always put a tack coat on first. See what it does, if it looks good spray as usual. If not keep dusting the paint till no more fisheyes. All we had back in the day was smoothie and smoothie 2 fisheye eliminater. I hated that stuff because like you said, it’s contamination and it can get all in the booth and then you have to keep using it..

I spray all of my single stage wet. Every job for 12 years in this booth has never happened. That didn't even happen on this job, I sprayed mosquito repellent on he good after the first coat was already down, I actually sprayed a few things to make it fisheye but the mosquito repellent worked. Once I took the hood out I painted 4 more cars with the same gun in the same booth. I think there are a lot of myths around this stuff. In the real world that has never been the case for me. Yo trigger its paul from phantom ,again ..lol now dont hold me to this but i used a little trick once that worked really well, i was spraying a direct gloss after extensive repair and after i layed down first coat as always the dreaded spots of grey primer came through, so i grabbed another gun same fluid tip, same aircap and filled pps cup with thinners not standard thinners of course but paint thinners, did two semi wet coats then after that had dispursed , did a slight mist coat of the direct gloss again to basically let the two meet , and bang! The fish eyes were not showing through weather the thinners melted it or what i dont know but i could then apply the top coat as intended, might not work all the time but it saved me going back to square one.
