Idk Trigger. All this YT stuff, people wanting their hand held. I worked in a body shop over 30 years ago, for about a year, as a teen. Lots of bondo, sanding, and primer. Lacquer paint and clear, then the wool pad and ebony. I’ve since painted several cars since then. I didn’t know jack about psi settings, gun size tips, reducer rates, blah, blah,blah. The art of painting has maybe been lost a bit. It’s gotten too mechanical, oh the good old days.. miss them bro? I know I do.

Do you have a video of the Black widow settings like fluid control / spray pattern etc? I have a 33 gallon compressor. I'm fairly new to this . I'm trying to get a glass finish without wet sanding . And thanks for the fast reply!

@@Bergs9317 Thank you man Glad you enjoyed. The PRD 715 and the 627 seem like they give just about the same results to me. I've heard guys say that the 627 gives them a better finish but in my opinion they're both about the same. And I like the way the 715 feels in my hand.

What's the difference between a Ls400 and a LPH or do they spray the same?

@@craigcarter5276 the LS 400 is from a different line up from iwata. They do not spray the same. In my opinion the lph is more versatile and can be used for many different applications. The LS is made for base coat. But it sprays clear well. Lph is King in my book.

shuld i get TE20 or T110 1.3 for clear coat. Im a beginner. What cap do you use in the video?

@@VLOGISGARAGE in this video I use the DV1 spray gun it does not have either of those caps. T110 and TE20 caps go to the devilbiss Pro light / tekna And with that gun I prefer the TE20 cap. I have the t110 as well but it does not accommodate my spraying style. I like to move a little faster The t110 slows you down. It's supposed to get you a finer finish so maybe that would be better for you a slower gun while at the same time giving you a nice finish.

The thing I preach the most to guys is to know your materials I've been spraying this clear for 12 years now I know how far I can push it before it runs or solvent pops if this were a new clear I was trying I wouldn't dare pull that off. Guys just don't realize they do their self more harm than good when they keep trying different clears all the time instead of sticking with one and getting to know it better kind of like it was a chick 😂.

What's up Triggerman! Quick question, occasionally I paint semi-trucks I get from the auction in 2 stage paint and high solids clears, just the hood and cabs, and some cars here and there. After watching your videos I'm looking at the Porphis PRD-717 because I like how it sprays. Should I get a 1.3 or a 1.4 tip? I consider myself a fast painter. I already have a HF HVLP 1.4 gun that I've used for years and a A610 gun I picked up recently. Thank you!

@@DanielShaw-l3f being a custom painter I could understand spraying at a slower speed. Every job is different for custom work. But these repair jobs are pretty much the same thing every time. So it's like riding a bike in comparison to custom work

Can clear coat change the entire tone/shade of a color? say you 'spot' in a very small 2" x 4" spot on the fender you sprayed in this video, then cleared the entire fender..unmask and then the entire fender is off by a couple shades?

@@ammreid it can cause a slight change of 4-5 heavy coats but 1 or 2 coats of clear it shouldn't change it much. Unless it's some real garbage clear coat. But it's rare

@@thetriggerman954 It's way off, I'm going to sand it back down and try a different clear, I used some Speedokote Super fast drying clear, forgot the exact one. Or my other thought was maybe the surrounding door panel is just "dirty" Hazy and I need buff it out to get the 'true' color back. The panel sprayed looks very grey and the surrounding panels look grey/brownish. Maybe it's just dirty and when buffed the original color will be more closer to the new sprayed panel. Thanks

@@ammreid if clear changes the color adding more clear won't correct it. You'll need to base the entire panel with the correct color then clear it with better clear, some of those speedokote clears are acrylic and not that great.

@@thetriggerman954 I was thinking since that small fist size section was airbrushed in and blended to surrounding area..that I could just sand the new clear back down to the old clear right before the basecoat...so that I can just put new clear right over the Original paint..to avoid and color match problems.. you're saying it's best to sand it, then base the entire panel, then clean ?...

*_Back in the day when the 3M/Devilbiss DeCups craze hit the scene I tried them and sold them as a salesman too. And I liked them just fine. But ... For me IMO I'll still stick with my Factory Offered Large Capacity Aluminum Cups that were offered as options. They work well for me get the job done and I've never had an "incident" yet._** hahaha LOL*

you can also take a cup and mix the base and pearl together 50/50 and blend your last coat of base out with that instead of adding the blender in it. think a sikkens rep showed me that years ago and it works flawless

*_I own a SATA-Jet and an Iwata front and center among other top brands and I use them ALL occasionally but day in day out it's my bread and butter good old fashioned 175 dollar DeVilbiss ALL-Purpose Gun that pays the bills that dang thing will spray anything and everything very very well ... and it's fast too. As far as speed goes like in the production line its the fastest gun I own. Kinda funny I'm an American but use German Japanese and French Paint Pistols... hahaha LOL_*

I'm 40 years old and I'm just starting and one reason I am is even pro paint shops Round here dont paint that good. For one theres junk under the prep and etc may not be on them but its orange peeled and expensive. Still expensive though! So I thought fckitI'll start. So I like that I've not had time to get into bad habits I also have long reach so I dig that maybe I could paint half the car as a bedside. That part is sweet.

3 main variables : paint gun , product and temperature all factor into speed , being comfortable and confident in what you're doing is the most important part if you ask me , and both of those come from experience 👍

Great job and explanation on 3 stage pearls, using the blender mixed with the base coat for diluting the colour for blending it out is pure gold advice man, that is one of the biggest issues with blending 3 stage pearls is seeing the under coat transition once the pearl coat is on top, the pearl is not going hide that and taking the pearl right near the end of blend area won't cause you any issues. Great information here and the TriggerTroll is on great form 😂 i have the same issue doing voiceover weeks after the footage 🤦♂ I also have one of those touch up pen things they are great I've never seen anyone else use one before , Brilliant Fantastic work man it looked prefect, God bless 🙏
