I've been asked by a police officer if I had a gun before and I said "no, I don't even have a pocket knife" because I assumed he was concerned that I was carrying a weapon so I elaborated on that train of thought. The police officer didn't seem to think I was being suspicious and didn't even ask to search my bag before he gave me a ride in his car to the nearest town (my motorcycle had broken down).

In a household, realistically, what is the most likely knife you will use to hurt somebody? anecdotally I believe most people would picture a kitchen knife because it is logical, NOT a pocket knife, which is a street thing. you were being questioned on the street, you went to pocket knife. who has a pocket knife in a house??? its not a house thing. people dont get stabbed with pocket knives in houses. so strictly speaking, he ESCALATED it, by going from a house thing, "a knife" which ANYONE would just think "kitchen knife" immediately, and then he made it into a street thing by talking about a pocket knife. if he said "utility knife" i would agree with you. if he said "i dont even have kitchen knives" i'd agree with you.

Timothoes Powell, a 29-year-old man from Holly Hill, Florida, has been arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated child abuse in connection with an incident last month involving his younger relative.12 Powell claimed that the cuts were accidental, but a doctor and a nurse who investigated the boy's injuries said they were too precise to be a mistake.2 Powell was seen on surveillance video changing the child's diaper, and he initially told police that he found a piece of glass in the diaper and believed it cut the child.1 He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is up at court on the 21 of November for his trail

I run (often court-ordered) parenting classes at a methadone clinic. I often hear "My parents hit me & I turned out fine!" I have to gently remind them of where they are- in treatment for a serious addiction, multiple arrests, homeless, having CPS in their lives/having kids taken, mental illness, domestic violence etc. They're not at all fine and much of their problems began with their own traumatizing childhood.

When you grow up with someone you don’t see them as ugly or strange. The mother was incredibly proactive, she immediately came home and got the child and rushed him to the ER. She contacted CPS (not the hospital, the mother contacted CPS) and cooperated with the department. Additionally the mother immediately moved out of the home.

I think the problem is she was under the assumption that her mother was the one watching him. I put some blame with the kids grandmother for leaving the baby alone with him. The mother didn’t even seem to know this guy well and didn’t know that he was providing the majority of care.

He is her family, she thought she was leaving the child with the grandmother and creep. She was proactive when she found out the child was injured and rushed him to the ER. It is also reported in the video that the mother was the one who contacted CPS. She also moved out as soon as she was aware of the incident. She lived in the same house as him, saying you don’t know your cousin super well just implies you’re not BFF and she could have also been meaning she didn’t know he would ever do this, which she followed up with stating directly after she was asked about it.
