When I was young I assumed he was bald with one strand because of the peanuts movie, but when I saw what he looks like in an old strip, I saw how his hair was drawn and just kinda understood what was going on. His hair is short and feint enough where all you really needed was a squiggle to represent the little bit of tuft in it's cartoon style. And looking at the way the others have their hair drawn it makes sense

I will defend the positive ending of the 2015 “Peanuts Movie” on the grounds that it was a sendoff to Charles Schultz, considering that the film’s story was created by his children in honor of his legacy. Fun Fact: My grandfather taught Schultz’s kids English literature at the elementary school they attended.
@That_One_Gaming_Guy5 ай бұрын
That's actually pretty cool
@GatsbyCioffi5 ай бұрын
I also remember hearing that Schulz ultimately regretted, or at least seemed to regret, that Charlie never got to kick the football. I think that letting Charlie finally win wouldn't be too off base for what he would've eventually wanted. Had he been able to pre-plan a final sendoff, he probably would've come up with something similar.
@KremBotop4 ай бұрын
@@GatsbyCioffiYeah, his declining health in the late 90s might've caused him to abruptly end the strip without being able to give it or Charlie's story a proper send-off. So what his family did for the 2015 movie was a great way to make up for it. And even though we eventually got more Peanuts animations afterwards with the Apple TV stuff, those are not really Charlie Brown centric, so his arc technically did end in the movie. What's more impressive about the 2015 movie is how it found a plausible way to simultaneously break two of Charlie Brown's biggest "curses" of "not being able to fly a kite" and "not being able to talk to his crush" as part of the movie's climax. All while still leaving the "not being able to kick the Football " and "not being able to win a game" ones mostly unresolved in order to not fully break tradition, though those did previously get broken in a few specials.

Race For Your Life Charlie Brown was my first exposure to Peanuts, period. 1982, my brain starting to form coherent long-term memory, this film along with Star Wars, Star Trek II, and Raiders of the Lost Ark are the films I watched the most (yes, I was 3 years old and these were the films I was watching). It’s the standard by which I judge all Peanuts films. Bob Voyage is the second Peanuts film I watched the most. The meandering pace didn’t bother me cuz anything Peanuts was great to me as a child. The Peanuts Film is definitely a weird piece in comparison to the other Peanuts films, but I see it as a love letter to Peanuts from fans. When The Little Red-Haired Girl tells Charlie Brown why she thinks he’s great, that’s all of us speaking thru the filmmakers for the 50+ years Schultz shared his talent with us. I know Schultz never wanted Charlie Brown to win (he can never kick the football), but I wish he’d have been capable of drawing a proper final strip where, instead of Snoopy essentially writing the farewell speech, instead have the final strip echo the first, but have as many characters from the series as possible watch Charlie Brown pass by, and say “there goes good ol’ Charlie Brown…how we love him!” Life can suck most of the time, but I think even Schultz can agree that sometimes, it’s worth living. Thank you for your videos. Peanuts content is always must watch for me.
Thank you for giving us the gift that is Chad Charlie Brown. Truly a masterpiece for the ages. And happy 100k. Good job guys, let’s shoot for 200k!

Since you mentioned Snoopy and Woodstock's relationship, a weird but true fact about Woodstock is that he was originally a girl in the comics, which was supposedly emphasized by how the character was Snoopy's secretary in certain early appearances. But probably around the same time Schulz decided to give the character a name, he also decided that the character would be male from then on. He even admitted it in an interview, saying that the good thing about comics was that they made it easier to make those sort of changes. So perhaps there can be a case for Woodstock being an official trans character as a result, or it can be viewed the same way as it is when an animal's sex isn't clear. Fans should feel free to make whatever conclusions they want though.

30:41 - I don't know if it'll make you feel better to hear this, but you're wrong. I'm the single person that agrees with you. "Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown" is my favorite of the Peanuts movies too. It might be partly nostalgia based since it was the first one of these films I ever saw after renting it from my local video store (God I'm Old) but it seems the most like a "Movie" to me. It seems like it has this grand scale about it that the other ones don't. I feel that "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" is the best in terms of being a psychological character piece for Charlie Brown, "Snoopy Come Home" is the best at giving Snoopy a much more well-rounded personality, emotional range and storyline rather than just dicking around for comic relief and the Blue Sky movie has a soft spot in my heart for creating what has apparently come to be considered The Little Red-Haired Girl's definitive design if the recent spike in shipping fanart between her and ol' Chuck is anything to go by. Don't worry. Pretty much everyone agrees that "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown" is the worst. I'd probably like it a lot more if it was just a special and not a full-on movie. Take out a good chunk of the filler and this could probably be trimmed down to less than a hour.

@KremBotop5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was so used to it being light blue. Peanuts basically pulled a Disney's Sleeping Beauty color change on Sally's dress. And the funny thing is that both are blondes and had the same dress color change. Guess there was a need to make Sally a bit more distinct from the rest of the female cast since Lucy is the one most remember using a blue dress. Also, Sally's design in the 2015 movie really feels like the middle ground of her classic and modern designs. It established the pink dress of today but restored her wider / longer hair from the earlier specials.

It's not always considered THE worst and I think too short to be on this list, but I love the old fans almost universally having vitriol for that one football (Superbowl?) one with a stupid ending for the sake of a gag, breaking that weird rule of never being *Too* Mean to Charlie Brown. Apparently it was so badly received Schulz (who apparently wasn't very involved) was getting hate mail over it and commented he didn't like the ending either. I mention it because it ALSO, I think, was the first time they broke the rule of never showing the Little Red Head Girl clearly. So when the Blue Sky movie came out and seemed like it would do the same, I was initially really worried.
