There's a deeper form of the persona that effects people with mental disabilities (particularly those with ADHD or ASD) known as masking. It's like a persona, but that persona is more towards just being "functional." The desire to be normal is all we neurodivergents would want, and we often have to put on a mask to do that, and it often, or in fact *always* fails.

​@@suave605Well if you're talking about Autism, I assume you are, it is a spectrum. However, typically while yes Autistic people tend to not understand sarcasm or metaphors, that doesn't mean they aren't creative or think extremely abstractly! A LOT of talented people that are less social in history are thought to be autistic. Autism is honestly just a different perspective, way of thinking, and experience than the "norm". I can definitely say, as a diagnosed Autistic person, that I'm a very creative person who has a pretty good abstract mind. Is it perfect at catching sarcasm and or sayings/metaphors? Not really or all the time. Oh! I should also note that yes, there likely are some Autistic people who struggle with abstract thinking but certainly not all. I too adore psychology and philosophy, it's fascinating to try to understand how and why people think and act the way they do. Not all Autistic people see the world in black and white, a large portion of us can grasp the shaded grey areas of the world too. Also an FYI, please don't take this as a lecture- I'm just passionate about educating people and tend to go on rambles about that educational topic. If you want try to read it as that one person who's vibrating in their seat as they talk about the book, game, or movie that they've been waiting for a long time. Complete with a wide smile and a sparkle in their eye of barely contained joy. If you read all that- good lord, thank you?? If not, that's fine lol

@@dejavuskelecat9582 I’ve got an autistic cousin who understands metaphors and comedy pretty well, but when it comes to philosophy or deeper form of literature it doesn’t hit for him. Then again i wouldn’t necessarily say it’s an autistic trait since there are a lot of non-autistic people as well that struggle with said topics. Which is why i find autism sort of interesting since a lot of the traits that come along with it are also present in a lot of non-autistic people, yet there is always just some small minute difference between us that says “oh he’s a little different”. When all it really comes down to is a different perspective and experience of life.
